In this vlog I walk around and ask people in Holland what they think the best Dutch food is as well as what the worst ones are (at the end). Dutch cuisine may not be world-renowned, but there are still some great taste experiences to be had...
Most locals tend to eat traditional hearty foods during their daily life in the Netherlands. These dinner dishes (mostly mash pots) aren’t very well known and thus not popular among travelers visiting the country. Nonetheless they can still be quite tasty when prepared well, and they most accurately represent the local culture.
The more famous foods such as stroopwafels, poffertjes and Dutch cheese are covered as well of course. To be more specific: the categories within this video are: hearty foods, street food / snacks, sweets, and fish. All food groups are covered, and the best meals (according to locals) in each category are featured in the video.
As for breakfast and lunch, that’s mostly bread. Not much variation there, though visiting a good bakery and trying out some of the pastries is something I definitely recommended as those can be quite tasty too.
In the end I hope this gives you a local perspective of the best Dutch food to try, so you get a more authentic and not-so touristy view of what to eat when you’re visiting Amsterdam for example. That’s it for this tour guide, hope you enjoy the tips!
