I have an 09 SG Special in faded cherry. I bought off ebay in 13 and I love it!!! I put grover tuners on it but no upgrades other than that. Very light and has always played nice. Your SG will make a fine guitar for someone 👍
I never find deals like this in the UK, saying that I bought my own Gibson LP Studio and SG Custom in the '80s when prices were fair compared to how they are today, I also bought another LP Studio in 2007 for £840 including a case, they are more than double that here now. I also inherited my dads 1968 goldtop, the very guitar I learned to play on.
@@boechlerguitarsandrepair Yeah, my dad bought it in 68 when he attended a family wedding in the states, he used to play in bands in his younger days, his spare is not as elegant though a 1961 Burns Vista sonic, it has a unique tone though for English guitars of that era. Its shaped similar to a Telecaster but has 3 single coil Burns Tri-Sonic's, well 2 really as the middle pickup is really gritty sounding, I have been thinking of re-winding it.
I really like the look of that SG and you got a great deal on it. You find some gems maybe I should start a channel, I collect and restore old film cameras. There was a time when people were practically giving them away much like vinyl records and I would find both in charity shops and garage sales for pennies, those days are long gone and the deals are getting harder to find.
I was going nuts with the look peeky bids sure glad to see this type of video great deal on the SG Mines the model before the PCP board series love mine
I have the exact same guitar but got mine the year before from one of their factory shops. The stickers on the dials started coming off a couple years back and I barely used it for a bunch of years!.. The gibson strap it came with I left lying on top of it and their white print on the strap actually fused with the varnish and damaged the guitar a bit.. I don't think it was worth the price I paid, let alone how much they cost new !
Good price for a player grade instrument. You said "a calculated risk" but considering today's market and the moral ethics of many selling used guitars it was risky. When you bought it you didn't know the truss rod situation, you didn't know if the electronics worked or indeed if they were original. You'll probably be able to double your investment if you find the right customer but whatever happens you can't lose money on this one, as parting it out would bring more than you paid. You took the risk, you deserve the profits. I wouldn't however recommend anyone jumping on a deal like this one without adequate experience and background knowledge.
