Posted in another reply. Two of my four main stage guitars (Tele style, Strat style, R8 Les Paul, Es 335) are Nash. S-57 and T-52... and I don't even really care for relic'd instruments. They just played and sounded better than any Fender or F style I'd previously picked up. But quality control and consistency: Picking up any two of the exact same model, one I'll love and one I wouldn't touch again, and for me it's been about one in four or one in five that I've played that I like.

I have an S63. I was never a fan of relics until I picked it up in a store. It was one of those “I cannot leave without it” moments and now it’s my #1. Best feeling neck I’ve ever played and the lollars are incredible sounding. Nash licenses the headstock shape from fender. That’s how they can use those parts.

Normally nash doesn’t clear coat over the work area. That was probably a request from a customer. Most nash guitars are custom made from stores like ours. You can have them do almsot anything. And that neck shape was definitely a custom order. Normally nashes have a chunky more modern neck. Kinda close to modern Gibson 50s standard neck size. But I’m sure they would do more thin style. Just pay attention to the listing If you are looking for one. That neck is referred to as a “boat” neck. I wish you did a bit more research on these wonderful instruments. Nash is one of the best in the bizz. They have better output then any modern fender you will try. Even most custom shop fenders fall short to them. As nash are known as custom shop killers at the Chicago music exchange. Don’t let nostalgia of fender sway you’re idea of them. They are fantastic

@@looking_33 They're far from garbage. Decal logos don't tell anything and they certainly don't make anything good. Properly selected and dried wood, good fretwork, snug neck-pocket fitment, proper alignment of neck-strings-pickups-bridge, good electronics and clean wiring fundamentally make good guitars. Anyone and everyone who knows well made guitars knows this. There's not a thing in them that's junk. Their setups from factory come at about 8 out of 10 by pickiest standards.

It has a mastery bridge and I’m not sure about the tremolo or how it differs from the Fender. @@tonyhill1141I've considered a JM63 but I don't care for the roller bridge that they come with. Do you know if the bridge holes on yours had to be filled and re-drilled to accommodate the Mastery bridge or was it just a matter of swapping out the thimbles and popping it in?
@tonyhill1141
@tonyhill1141 11 месяцев назад
I don’t see any fill ins. I bought it from a luthier and he copper lined the pickups and put on the mastery. I’ve played other ones that just don’t sound as good as this one but don’t get me wrong they were all quality guitars. I’m probably just biased for mine.

@@tonyhill1141 Understandably so! I was just curious. I've had 2 Novo Serus Js with Mastery bridges and vibratos and one Mexican road worn Jazzmaster with a vintage style bridge that I put a Mastery vibrato on and the Mastery hardware is just flawless. I was gifted a S67 in 2014. That guitar changed my life and still does to this day. Mine has a solid ash body so it’s quite a bit heavier than most strats, and the neck profile is the D shape that’s 1.00 at the 1st fret and 1.05 at the 12th. I was never a fan of relics until that guitar came to me and now I only want that one. I loved it so much I played through the frets in just over 3 years. Tone Shop Guitars in Addisonx TX is a Nash Dealer so I had them put stainless frets on and it bends smoother than a roller skate on a greased ice rink. Every guitar player I let try it has this moment where they just go “woah”. The tone is unmatched of any other guitar I’ve ever owned or tried out, some multiple times the amount as mine. Bill Nash is also known to donate guitars to charitable causes, which is pretty cool for a small boutique guitar maker.

Exactly what I was thinking. I built a Warmoth Tele with the Boat Neck years ago and it's beefy alright. Having big hands, it fills up the palm nicely and feels great. It has a Broadcaster bridge pickup, Strat style Hot Rails in the middle and P90 at the neck, so it covers the tones. All tung oil finished.

Have owned three Nash guitars in the past. All very playable and with great pickups. To my mind, they are ideal for a gigging guitar player as the main and reliable 'workhorse' guitar.

Not all Nash necks have this carve. They are generally nicely C shaped, but can vary slightly due to the fact they are shaped by hand. Nash also offers a boatneck carve.

I live in WA and own an S-57 and a T-52 Nash. Nash, I believe, is still based in Olympia. For the main parts, body and neck, there are three great makers in the immediate area to them. Warmouth in Puyallup is a licensed by Fender maker, but there is also Best and USA Custom in Tacoma. Both of those makers have headstock designs that... can be creatively sanded with minimum effort into the Fender shape. There is a strong rumor as to which of those three companies Bill Nash gets his parts from, but let's say it's fairly certain that he's using one of those three companies. Lollar pickups are based out of Vashon Island WA. The funny for me about Nash guitars is I'm not really a fan of relic instruments, but the very first Telecaster I played was the best playing and sounding Tele I'd played to date. better than Fender Custom Shop, better than tens of thousand valued vintage ones I played at Emerald City Guitars. And... unfortunately I did not get that one, but when I picked up the white Strat with 57 specs I play, I found the same experience for an S style. And I did eventually find a Nash Tele that seems as good. :) But the main caveat I have to offer with these "magic" instruments that I own s that is that in trying out several Nash instruments, I only find about one in four at the most is a truly "special" one, and the rest I don't like at all. I should also note that the two I own have big baseball bat profile necks, which I love but folks who like "slim taper" or Ibanez RG slim type ones would probably hate.

@@cataclysmicconverter Yes, but that's sort of why I was talking about the quality control. At one point I held my own S-57 and played it, and I love it, and played another S-57 from the wall of the store I was teaching at a few years ago, same specs, same parts... it was a boat anchor with strings. Two of the four main stage guitars, the ones I would never part with, are Nash... but I would never think of dropping two grand on one without playing it first.
@cataclysmicconverter
@cataclysmicconverter Год назад
@@guitarcd I completely understand that for sure. Even with a few of the LP Standards from the Demo shop I've gotten in the last couple years. The latest was a Classic that everything just felt right about and I love the most. Just subtle differences, but this one resonates like magic and with a slimmer taper neck than I usually prefer. Bottom line is the instant connection they make and when you know, you know.

I totally got "catfished" with your title. I was in Les Paul mode and thought the "Nash" reference in the title was a Nashville guitar. I was a little pleasantly surprised to see a Strat copy. If it is a Fender I tend to go for a Tele but I do love small shop custom guitars.

I never thought I was narrow minded and I could embrace new the ways of doing stuff. But, I have a problem of justifying guitars that look like crap! I'm missing something about that is wrong. I buy my guitars and take better care than those guitars that look like I'm a pig on taking care of my guitar the majority are steel string guitars and I'm planning to have my own handmade electric guitars and 5-string basses. Keeps me out of trouble. Cheers!
