I recently had dinner with a girl who I would best describe as agnostic that I wanted to get to know to potentially date. During the night, I found out we had a lot in common and I really liked her. I explained to her that I was a Christian and even asked if she’d like to come to church sometime. She didn’t seem opposed which I knew was a good sign. Unfortunately, as soon as she found out I was a pro-life person, she wanted to leave right then and there, only to text me the next day and say that she didn’t think we were compatible and didn’t respond to any further messages. I was sad at first, but I believe that was God protecting me because if anything serious would have started between us, it would’ve been a nightmare in the long run

Bro, God did protect you!!! I know of some Christian whom are married to non-believers. All of those marriages are nightmares. I’m a 60 year old single guy (went through a divorce before I became a Christian). It’s paramount to that if I ever marry again that she’s a true believer. I used to be atheist, condemning Christ name, and I met now my wife who is Evangelical Christian. We had similar political views (i.e. right leaning) but I told her I had no desire to be Christian. She accepted that, and we dated, asked her to be my gf, and slowly I had a began opening my heart to Christ. The biggest revelation I had was when I heard the spirit talk to me and say "something will happen and you will try and repent but by then it would be too late, do it now or else you will not have chance" After that experience, I devoted my self to Christ in full.

Excellent call out that probably doesn't get done enough. Some people say they grew up as a Christian, but how do they know it's the true version? The common turn away is because there's so much emphasis on rules and regulations, while missing the real point. And that is Jesus. As for the individuals, before they date, should they not assess what their core values are first? Perhaps there ought to be more discussions about the practice of dating and whether one should take part in it.

I must point out that those who love Jesus will keep His commandments as Jesus says “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” If they refuse to wait till marriage, if they see no wrong in being drunk or watching porn despite scripture presented, it is because they do not keep Gods words and do not love Jesus. To add to this, be mindful of the denomination a potential mate is coming from. There are more and more groups that are falling into apostasy and no longer abide in sound doctrine. I feel that any proposed partnership needs a lot more thought than they are often given. How does it work if he plays golf every weekend and she wants him to take her shopping? How does it work if a 'strong' Catholic marries a lapsed Catholic? Or a pro-life atheist hooks up with a pro-choice atheist. A slow 'courtship' is probably a good idea, how do we make relationships work? A difference of religious belief could cause problems but it is not as simple as finding a partner who goes to the same Church/roller skating club/political youth group.

I'm dating a non believer now but she is probably the best relationship I've ever had. She's always been sweet. She is what some people would describe as almost a Christian. I struggle with what to do. I've introduced her to my faith recently but it's an uphill battle. She's one of those people who can't accept the concept of things that can't be scientifically proven. I don't want to break up with her because she's been so good to me and I don't want to break her heart. I've never been able to date a Christian woman. Not one has ever been interested in me to my knowledge. Maybe that's just God's way of saying I should remain single or is testing me or maybe there is another plan entirely I don't know. However it's a hard situation. What's crazy is there is nothing that feels like a problem. It's just her reluctance to except the existence of God. It feels like part of her even wants to but she's being held back by something. Like she knows the truth but she's afraid of what it could mean if she went down the path of faith. It really breaks my heart. I hope that there can be a Godly resolution to this. Please pray for me everyone.

Good luck to you. Two things to think about: 1) At some point, life is going to happen which may require completely trusting God. If only one of you is doing this, the relationship will fray. 2) From a scientific standpoint, a Christian marriage is actually more likely to succeed. In sociology, they teach triads (group of 3) are more stable than diads (groups of 2). The reason for this is that the 3rd person (in the case of a Christian marriage the 3rd person is God) helps to meditate between the other two. From my own personal experience, I tried dating “good” women by societal standards and even those who said they believed but would otherwise not go to church unless I brought them there with me and unfortunately, I broke up with every single one of them. The short story is I got comfortable with the idea of being single for life and once I did, it was a short time later I went on my first date with my now wife.

Your plan is perfect and nothing can constraint it to give the full potential of my life down this Earth. I praise you to let me here your plans and accept them instead of my own will. I trust that if I have to lose this girls it's for a better reason. Give me the strength to work through your paths, not mine. Give me the courage to give up on my will and do what you have prepared for me until the origine of time. I trust you. I love you. I'm Jesus name. Amen" All my support to you brothers. ok, I am one of those evil, immoral atheists that eats babies for dinner every night, but I'll chime in a bit anyway (I'm also single, which is probably the more significant problem 😅)... I suspect that your differences might become a problem down the road, and, if your faith is something you hold very dear to you, then eventually things are likely to fall apart, if your faith is more important than your love for someone, or if she finds your faith to be a problem for whatever reason. I am not sure if this is unavoidable, though - she did choose to be with you, so it's possible that this doesn't become a problem at all. Trying to convert her, IMO is a good way to ruin it, though, again, it depends on her background and it isn't a simple "issue" to solve. I, obviously, wouldn't advise to try to convert her, but it would indeed be sad to throw away someone that you love and that loves you for any reason. And, I suspect I might actually have to say this here - yes, atheists can genuinely love someone as well, we're not in it just for the demonic orgies, though those are kinda fun as well xDDD (the demonic orgies thing was a joke, just to be clear)

Personal faith doesn’t hold a candle to the extent other people’s faith impacts life. Just the fact that you exist, shows the most dramatic impact. If your parents’ faith in end times had been fulfilled, you wouldn’t have been. If you get to that area of the mark of the beast, it won’t be through people who have no belief. Do you think your children will spend the reprieve for your err in prophecy like we see current Christians doing? Give their life purpose by denigration and humiliation of other belief? More evidence that the faiths of others impact our lives more than ours could ever hope to do.

I think they're just giving opinions But if you go to the bible, Paul gave a strong opinion on marrying outside of the faith, and he gives the reasons why. Even God from Genesis to Revelation hones down on the importance of marriage and its purpose. Perhaps you'd desire their answer more if they used Bible verses to prove their point? Marriage is about agreement and if 2 don't agree on the basics of their salvation, then how is that of the Lord? The gift of discernment needs to be utilized more in believers
@Kevin-hw1fi
@Kevin-hw1fi 8 месяцев назад
@@dorcaso1619 But giving their opinions by saying God is instructing them to do something while being innacurate of God's will is playing God weather they know it or not. I know and understand Paul's opinion on marriage and to a degree agree. Two people that do not share the same values will have a higher likelyhood of having a bad relationship which is why Paul said what he said, and that is fair. Wasn't Paul a murderer before converting? Didn't Jesus hang out with unbelievers? How does that dynamic come from God? A believer has the power to potentially lead someone to God which is why he instructed people to spread the gosple to the unbelievers. Now sure the dynamic of a romantic relationship is differnet sure but the outcome could be the other person converting and submitting to God. How would that oppose God and his will? Isn't Satan the one who tries to sway people away from unbelivers? Who are we serving if we tell someone to not be with another person if it could actually be God's will in the first place. What if the other person is already at the process of opening their heart to God? What if the other person has miscinceptions of what the bible said and their lartner could guide them into the truth which would bring that person closer to God? We have the responsability to lead people to follow God's will not to instruct others to do what we think/feel is best for the other person. It is one thing to say that it is not recomended it is another to say not to do it. And how is discernement being used if one says to another "don't be with that person" without even knowing either one of them and their circumstances and what the future holds for them?

Marriage, in God's eyes, is an assignment as well as a gift, for his children Jesus, bridegroom, is married to the church, the bride. But the church is ONLY the people who follow Christ (they're being prepared for his second coming). It doesnt include people who are wayward and lukewarm, and especially unbelievers... God is very serious about marriage When Jesus marries the church, the purpose is to shut down the devil. When Jesus died on the cross, his purpose was to, shut down the plans of the enemy. When Jesus was born, his purpose was to shut down the plans of the enemy I hope we see the pattern. Yes, God wants us to enjoy relations with our spouses, but the big assignment is going to be in the place of prayer, when it comes time to agree and make decisions. Where there are 2 or more, the Lord is in their midst. Who's the second one if the unbelieving spouse don't agree? Amos 3:3 gotta agree to get things done Christians already dont agree with those in the world, so knwing this and having this synopsis about how God views marriage...why are Christians, so called Christ followers, entertaining unbelievers in the place of marriage and dating? I'm not saying that you cant, nor is God sayings dont do it. The strong suggestion from Paul was to avoid being unequally yoked. Meaning, don't walk in line with those who ain't yoked to what you're yoked to. Aren't you yoked to Jesus? Wouldn't you want someone who is yoked to Jesus as well? But, who am i. Please check biblical characters who did married unbelievers without Gods approval (Hosea was told to do it, but you can read it to see why established marriage) and let us know how that worked out for them. Honestly, God wants us To avoid struggle but it seems many people like struggle... Like Hosea 4:6 says, The knowledge of God saves. Advise is to choose that, if you're claiming to be a believer in Jesus

If someone who claims to be a Christian is pursuing a relationship with an unbeliever, they are (1) extremely immature, naive and shortsighted (2) engaged in some massive suppression of obvious truth and elevation of desire or (3) not actually a believer...or some combination of these. When you consider the meaning and purposes of marriage from a biblical perspective, as well as the magnitude of a marital commitment in general just from a practical perspective, the thought of not sharing the most fundamental and foundational beliefs with the person that you intend to spend the rest of your life with and perhaps raise a family with should without any doubt whatsoever give one serious pause, raise red flags, and honestly should strike a believer as a sad and repulsive thought. If one is clearheaded about this and not blinded by their desires or confused about their identity and ultimate allegiances, this is not at all a difficult conclusion to come to or determination to make.

Light and darkness cannot share together. Of course we have free will to do so anyways but as one mentioned earlier look what happened to Solomon. He abandoned the Lord for his wives gods. So if Solomon, the wisest man (except Jesus) to ever live abandoned his faith, it would be foolish to think we wouldn't either. This crazy question that he likes to ask "if Christianity were true, would you become a Christian" is just so silly. If you had some way of proving Christianity to be true, nobody would reject Christianity. The purpose of the question is to show that the fact that people don't become Christians is not based on lack of evidence but really lack of desire to be beholden to believing in Jesus and living a life with rules. This however is absurd and based on the premise that it is actually possible to prove this. It's impossible to prove it so the real reason people reject it is because there is doubt and skepticism whether it is accurate. It has nothing to do with anyone wanting to deny it despite knowing it is true. The answer to the question however is always going to be a "yes". This in fact is the major dilemma Christianity faces when dealing with the fact that the Pharisees rejected Jesus. If it is was so obvious that this person was the messiah and he did so many miracles and was resurrected, how is it the least bit possible they would have rejected him? These were the only people 2000 years ago who knew one word of the bible, who knew anything about the messiah and who were anxiously awaiting his arrival. There is no rational reason they would have denied this if it was actually true. The fact that they almost unanimously did shows that they knew better than the gentiles who couldn't read a word of Hebrew. This is a thorn in Christianity and has been for 2000 years which is why more resources and money is used to convert Jews than any nation on this planet

Sweetie they rejected God as soon as He freed them from Egypt. They saw His miracles and knew He was real yet melted their jewelry to make a false god while God was talking to Moses on the mountain. Yet they swore they would follow God just before that. So you can rethink that malarky you spouted. There is more than enough proof God lives, but you want to be god of your life so run along and stop whining at us. Not interested in you trying to justify yourself.

@@chloemartel9927 Malarky? I haven't heard that word in a long time. I'll have to use it more. First of all, where did you get the idea that I don't believe in God. Of course I do. Are you seriously comparing this to when they left Egypt? No, they didn't reject Him as soon as they left. This was 3 moths later. It was also very different circumstances. They were being led through a desert relying solely on God to provide for them and now all of a sudden they all believed He was gone and Moses was gone. They never wanted to reject God but they had good reason to find another avenue. The Pharisees had zero reason to reject this. How can you possibly explain this? It's not like Christianity is some life altering burdensome belief system. They would be going from a life based solely on your deeds and your own merit to a life filled with nothing to do but believe in someone else to do it all for you. So please explain this. Doesn't it rather sound a whole lot more logical to say that they simply knew better? The rejected him because they knew what the messiah was supposed to do and what the Hebrew scriptures says and they knew this wasn't it.

Pretty amusing that Frank brings up Paul's admontion about "not being unequally yoked," etc. I have yet to hear anybody of the same ilk talk about cases where people who not only are divorced, but are divorced and sbusequently get remarried, because after all Jesus His very self tells us that such things are not to be allowed. Probably there's some made-up reason why that one doesn't count, at least not anymore, or that somehow that's not what Jesus REALLY' meant!
@dorcaso1619
@dorcaso1619 8 месяцев назад
Moses brought up not divorcing Overall, it's not God's will. But the context of the verse, when Jesus spoke on it, is more spiritual than it is physically. How long do you fault a person who is a liar? Until they die? Even God, they ask for forgiveness, they repent, and redirect their mind and lives back to the Lord. NEW creation. I see divorce is the same. It's a choice to marry and then another choice to divorce. Is every choice from the Lord...no. but can the Lord redeem, yes. It's Grace, what they didn't have in the old Testament, when Moses was leading the people Check the verses specifically. The Pharisees asked "divorce legal for ANY REASON?" Jesus responded to them saying, sexual immorality would be the reason. The verse before, all in Matthew 19, we see Moses permitted them to divorce because they had hardness of heart. God doesn't like it. He made the two one flesh. Can you imagine if marriage were still sleep with the person and you're married? That's how it was in the culture of old....it's still like that. In God's eyes. Paper is a new thing. But God recognizes it the way that he instilled it
@KenCunkle
@KenCunkle 8 месяцев назад
@@dorcaso1619 Your response reminds me of an old joke about a guy being on trial. The judge pronounces his verdict: "Mr. X, this court finds you not guilty of armed robbery." The defendant replies. "Gee, thanks, Your Honor. Does that mean I get to keep the money?" Letting him keep the money is effectively what you're advocating for here. You can forgive somebody who's lied, but if their lie resulted in them becoming rich while impoverishing somebody else, it would be normal for somebody to suggest that if they're REALLY sorry, they might want to make amends and offer just a smidgen of his ill-gotten gains to the person harmed. This isn't a hard call, even for a non-Christian. Repentance implies not merely reform but (where possible) restitution or otherwise making things right. When you divorce, and especially when somebody remarries, they are perpetuating the wrong every day. That's not my opinion, and in fact I think it's cruel nonsense, certainly in the modern world. But it is decidedly what the Bible says. So do you believe it? Apparently not. It's pretty obvious you're attempting to muddy the waters with the preceding verses without ever looking at what was actually said. As a matter of extremely clear Biblical fact, Jesus not only told people not to get divorced (except for sexual immorality), but also said that if they remarried, they were committing adultery. It's really very clear, just as it's clear you're trying to avoid it. It's also quite clear that Jesus' own disciples--rather like you--didn't much like this answer. Jesus just shrugged and told them, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given....The one who can accept it should accept it." Of which it's clear you are not one. Christians have a long and inglorious history of justifying their own particular stances by twisting the clear sense of the Bible, and this is yet another example. Other notable examples include American Southerners justifying slavery on Biblical grounds, and Southern Baptists insisting that God wanted us all to be teetotallers. It wouldn't surprise me if Christians in Nazi Germany would have justified genocide by airily referring their critics to 1 Samuel 15. Yeah, it's lucky for you guys that God doesn't ask you to do anything you don't like.

Also Christianity is not about rules and regulations, it's about.....rules and regulations, both direct (do this, don't do that, follow this, don't listen to that) and passive-aggressive (you don't need to do this but...hell, if you don't). Simply hilarious. Amazing stuff.

As a non believer I married my Christian wife 53 years ago. Through her I found Jesus and six years later we both entered full time ministry serving 44 years and we are both still active in our church. Her pastor in front of me told her not to marry me. I am glad she didn't listen but sad he did not see the changes that were happening in my life because of her. The bible advice of not being unequally is true, but beware of making your christianity legalistic, allow God's grace space to move thus avoiding the danger of believing the power of God is greater than the power of unbelief. However unlike this girl I respected my wife's belief and later discovered it was The beauty of Jesus in her life that made her so attractive. I thank God every night for her and through her His power and presence in my life.

Good testimony. All glory to *Christ.* Testimonies like yours are rare. But to obey *God’s* Word doesn’t make a Christian a legalistic. Yes and amen for *His* grace. However, *God’s* grace teaches us to not obey the flesh. Titus 2:11-12, “For the grace of *God* that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age…”

@sterlingfallsproductions3930 My point is that, we're all terrible people in need of redemption. God gave us a way out of judgment. He sent his only son Jesus to be the scapegoat for our sins. If we have a change of mind about our standing with him in our sins, and trust on his atonement for us on the cross. Then we will be saved. Upon that moment we will be given his Holy Spirit and we will begin to change from the inside out. Have your parents been perfect for you? Mine sure havent, God had been the BEST Father I've ever had. He's also been the best mother I've had as well. My parents are not perfect people. Neither are you or me, but I know someone who is. That's our Savior, our redeemer. Jesus Christ, the only one who can save us from ourselves. I hope you have a good day my friend. God bless you, and I pray a door is opened for you to be in right standing with God. No matter what you've done or who you are, he has a new identity for all of us.

Men tend to follow their wives' desires.... which is why the Patriarchs and the Jewish nation were warned again and again not to intermarry with the daughters of nations surrounding them, and when they ignored that advice, it was always to their detriment. It was also the case with my mom and dad... Dad was a former Mormon who turned atheist in college, and my mom was Lutheran. He eventually learned of the true God through her, converted, and became a staunch believer in Christ. That's not the norm, though, so I am very grateful it did work out in that case. You're unevenly yoked , you will not go far in the relationship butting heads. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil

If my foremost goal is to grow closer to my Savior, and everything else in my life stems from that, how could I entwine my being with another human who doesn't even share that? Let's take a look in the Bible. There are many stories and many times it has been told. Men that marry women outside their faith, will turn away from God and worship their false gods. Samson married outside his circle and that got him blinded and his hair cut off. Solomon had 1000+ wives and built altars for worshipping idolatry. I am a guy who married a christian woman and have been recently gotten more into the Bible. Was always a sort of a nonbeliever myself. Dont really know where I stand yet, but I hope to get to where I want and need to be one day. May God bless and stand by your times of difficulties and decision making.
