We visit one of the most interesting Buddhist Temples in the world Meth Bo Sewana in Southern Sri Lanka. It's a meditation center, and home to an ex-surfer turned Monk, as well as an ex-Australian tattooed night club goer who gave it up all to find peace and happiness.
Kristina and I spend the day with the Monks, visiting the working farm, new buildings, Vipassana center, cinnamon farm, and stay for the chanting. We asked all of the difficult questions we could think of and always wanted to know, and happily, they didn't hold back and told us everything we wanted to know including:
What is Happiness?
How to be Mindful?
Am I allowed to eat meat?
Don’t you miss surfing?
Can you see your family?
What does your wife think about you becoming a monk?

Lord buddha never wanted to make his teachings a religion. He wanted to teach his philosophy to save others from suffering. People made it a religion. So even if you are from any other religion, you can practice it to improve yourself mentally and physically

The monk who was explaining used to be my teacher (assistant lecture )in university(best state university for science in Sri Lanka), at that time (before becoming a monk) he was a law undergraduate and had a special degree in zoology, was on the verge of becoming an accomplished scientist since he used to be a terrific researcher in the field of natural sciences (most outstanding student of the batch in department of zoology),,, he could have won a PHD scholarship in USA. His brother was killed by the first high way crash in Sri Lanka. During his school years ,his debating team(popular school in colombo 7) came 1st in the country for consecutive years including the " The Debater Season 1"

The explanation by the reverent monk on the meaning of the robe is spot on. It was a reminder to me as a Buddhist layman of my duty to look after the needs of the clergy.

It has been a point of controversy and serious debate the question of what makes life meaningful or boldly saying what makes life worthy of living. Considerable numbers of ethical theories provided equally important and interesting answers as an attempt to settle this question. Buddhism, on the other hand, offers another important perspective about life. The Buddhist perspective of life is more realistic, and thus, it offers also a simple answer to this fundamental question of what make life worth living. Buddhism sees life grounded on impermanence. As much as there is nothing permanent, clinging too much in this life is the very cause of suffering and this is due to or notion of “self”. Thus, to get rid of suffering and be liberated from it, one must learn how to detachment. When one learns to detach himself from his possessive attitude towards the things of this world, one gains a truly happy life and worthy of living. Life becomes more meaningful and worthy of living if we understood the real nature of things, impermanent, and thus, it can help us gain real happiness.thanks for the video, greetings from Russia
