Though most of us don't want to actually admit it, only a small fraction of the world actually knows the words to Auld Lang Syne. Liam Cox not only teaches us this, but shows us the beauty of the Scottish poet Robert Burns and the Burns supper.
The intro animation was produced as a collaboration between TEDxBasel and the Hochschule Luzern. This animation was created by Benjamin Lüthold, Rhoda Berger and Ramona Graf. Find out more about this event and the other ideas that were shared at www.tedxbasel.com Liam was born and bred in Berwick-upon-Tweed, a town which has changed hands 13 times between England and Scotland. He is a Physical Education and Sports Science teacher and has lived and worked in the UK, USA, Kenya and Switzerland. A former rugby player, he has now taken to running marathons. He is passionate about holistic education and loves the poetry of Robert Burns.
“The best laid schemes o’ mice an men gang aft agly.” - Robert Burns, interpreted by Mike Tyson as “everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

I honestly don't want to be critical or pedantic because the presentation was perfect and very enjoyable but (there's always a but) the pronunciation of syne is not "zine" but "sign" and the crossover of hands is at the last verse which begins, "And there's a hand my trusty fiere!" The only reason I've mentioned this is in case you come to Glasgow for New Year.
