The amount of sheer musical information this group had to learn to be able to do this, song after song just speaks to the very high quality of musicians they are. And that musicianship is loaded with energy and emotion. Great job L&F.....
Jeff, I’ve been waiting for you to react to this one. This may be Chicago’s funkiest tune. And the original is definitely worth a listen. This song always gets me going, even at 66 years old. It’s quintessential Chicago: all 3 lead singers involved, a fiery baseline, tremendous brass arrangements, Terry shredding as always, Danny Seraphine ripping it and even a keyboard solo. Leonid and the boys once again produce a flawless masterpiece. Your reaction reminded me of the first time I heard this song. Keep pounding this seemingly endless Chicago catalog.
Hey, Igor talked! I finally heard his voice! What a way to start the day, listening to this performance! Absolutely great! But watching Jeff’s jaw dropping has no price 🤣🤣🤣🤣. My jaw dropped too and people in the subway train may think I am crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@StrateleStudios There is a YT video of Chicago doing this at the Caribou Ranch. At the end Danny Seraphine says "It was nice." Igor, I think, was emulating him. Worth watching to compare the two groups
Oh my goodness! This is too good! Just when I thought I had heard my “most favorite” song done by L&F, this pops up. Fantastic by everyone! And yes, Leonid is a monster bass player! It’s like he rips through the whole song but so musical all the way!
One of my favs from Chicago VI. They really nailed this one and of course the lyrics mean as much today as they did in ‘73! This one helped wear out my first copy of this album as did FSED!
Saw them in concert twice in the last two weeks in New York city and long Island. Absolutely amazing. Met all of them and had conversations with most of the band members in the meet and greet afterwards. I don't recall this song but it was smoking from beginning to end. Hung out with Leonid and talked about the work he does. He's a special guy. Ksenia Vasily Igor Oleg Michael and Danyel all were available and talked to me and my wife. Can't wait for you Jeff to see one of their shows.
They did this song live in Minneapolis back in 2019 and it was utterly fantastic. Of course, they had about 2 dozen fewer songs in their repertoire back then.
Leonid never fails to have the best players available, that is what i love about this band of Friends. Igor's comment at the end was spot on. tyvm for posting. ☮❤🙏
Don't remember L&F doing this one, ... either that or I just forgot about it altogether, because it wasn't in my top Chicago songs that I remembered from back in the days.
Jeff: As always a great R & A. I am amazed at your ability to digest it all at the first go-around. Maybe your friend Ray can prod Leonid to put this one on their set list.
I've seen them live 5 years in a row. They have never played it at the shows I attended. Would sound very different now since the 2 out of the 3 singers no longer in the band. I think its an improvement on the original. Much more pop and funk. A straight 10!
This cover is spot on compared to the original! Another song I would play my drums to over & over...trying to come as close to Danny Seraphine’s drumming as I could (obviously not coming close...but had fun trying). Great analysis....as usual. Always love to hear your professional take on L&F renditions. Keep em coming!
Yes, Chicago's original (studio) version was this 'smokin'. Great job by Leonid and Friends down to the drummer's version of Danny's comment after the end of the song. You have to check it out.
