Probably the best song on the laid back Chicago VI. It was an interesting pop album with it's western feel.

Yup Chicago has a trumpet, trombone, and sax. And this song has a sprinkling of a baritone sax too at the end there! The bass is funkin (Peter cetera is a massively underrated bass player), and 3 lead singers (Peter is one of them as well). The perfect guitar playing and singing of Terry Kath, and that KEYBOARD SOLO by keyboardist and singer Robert lamm. Amazing

the contrast between Kath and Cetera on the same song is amazing!

I couldn't agree more. Once Peter became the front man they really lost that jazzy rock sound and became a rock ballad band

One of the best bands, ever! The guy with the the soulful voice is Terry Kath! When he died, they were a great band, but they lost a big piece of their soul! Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarist was Terry Kath!

Whoa - this is a deep cut. All three vocalists! Edit: as a gen-Xer I died inside when BJ said his mom was a gen Xer. We are the ones who had it easy as the boomers took over from the WWII gen and it was before the boomers got old. Early 90s were weird.

Chicago's core included a trombone, a trumpet and a sax to go with precision , lead guitar, bass and keyboards. They had 3 lead singers with distinct sounds. This album came out inthe mid 70s, and I was kind of towards the end of Chicago's first phase as a rock/jazz/blues experimental fusion. I think their producers thought their style was starting to feel dated and they started guiding the band in another direction that I didn't follow. This song is kind of a deep cut - you'd never have heard this on the radio and I can't think of any kind of club where it would have played. But this old Chicago fan is happy you listened to it and liked it! Now I'm going to go back to being mad at you for making me wait for your conclusion to LOTR on your other channel. 😊

Peter Cetera formely of this group did a solo shot and did a song that I thought was awesome, it's called "Living in the Limelight", not that a whole lot of people have heard of it and maybe was not a popular song but was in my opinion kickass rock.

Great showcasing of the impressive call-and-response vocal approach sometimes used by Chicago-- three different voices, in this case. And for anyone who may be interested, there's a video clip out there that features Terry Kath's "isolated" rhythm guitar part from this song. It's just mind-bending, the stuff he has going on there, although unfortunately it got pretty much buried in the final mixdown.

Robert Lamm's musical hero was Ray Charles, so that have contributed to his jazzy piano playing.

There's a video out there that has just Terry Kath's rhythm guitar part on this song "isolated", and it's mind-boggling how imaginative it is. And it's a shame it got buried so deeply in the mix!

If every succeeding generation complain about the desperate state of the world then that means we are devolving instead of advancing especially spiritually.
