Thanks for the really interesting video! “Kobato” actually MEANS “Small Pigeon”. There are actually over 70 pigeons on the metal front. The whole plate is the largest pigeon. There is the obvious one at the bottom and the entire rim is full of little pigeons. The number 5810 39 can be read as Ko-ba-to Mi-ku. There is also the “po” character in Japanese “ぽ“ hidden in the bottom of the roses and leaves design. “Kuruppo” is the full version of the Japanese pigeon coo. M.K is Miku Kobato and “from 2016” indicates she started using Zemaitis in 2016. The original pre-tax price of the guitar in Japan is 390,000 yen. 3-9 once again for “Mi-Ku”. It was originally released for sale on March 9th... 😜 To see more Zemaitis models, check out Miku’s April Fools Day MV as cluppo (ie. Kuruppo) - Peace&Love. She uses 5 Zemaitis guitars in the video, none of which are metal front because cluppo’s music is completely different from Band-Maid so she didn’t want any association between the two. Edit: I really enjoyed how you snuck all those Band-Maid riffs in there when demonstrating how it sounds.
For a guitar channel, your intro to BandMaid’s music and other tidbits were honestly much better done than most music focused ones. Props to you for doing the artists justice. Don’t know much about guitars but I recognise a pro who takes their craft seriously when I see one. I’m definitely coming back here for reviews if I need to purchase a guitar someday.or recommend one to a friend. Btw Kanami the lead guitarist is also the Songwriter and Arranger of the band so their music is overall very centred around their guitar work and the instrumental section. Despite the language gap, their music definitely has something for most guitar lovers and Rock/Metal fans in general. My best recommendation for a new listener would the music video for “ Warning! “ which is the intro track of their latest album “ Unseen World “.
Make sure you check out Spotify as well. Many of their best songs don’t even have a video on RU-vid. Too many songs (over 100), too many good songs (arguably, close to 100 😜).
I have been listening to Band Maid for the last year and a half and to be honest it was the song "Thrill" that hooked me with them. I am constantly waving their flag trying to get others to give them a try. After years and years of American and British hard rock / heavy metal I found these young ladies to be such a fantastic breath of fresh air in a super dull male dominated rock world. Miku and the Ladies of Band Maid should never be sold short, they are on the rise for sure and we will be seeing way more of them.
THIS IS GREAT!!!!! Over a year ago(ish?) Trogly's did a review of the Silent Siren all white Telecaster (still love that guitar!) - So I checked out the band Silent Siren. Not being one to judge a band by one song, I clicked on another video. It was a BAND MAID video in concert MORITORIUM was the name of the song. I was blown away!!! I have been a MAIDIAC ever since. In a past video I thanked Trogly's for introducing me to BAND MAID. Please check them out! You will not regret it. Any song will do - They have a wide range of songs - DIFFERENT (an Anime theme song) being fastest and ABOUT US (a song to the fans) being a slower song. Everything in between is either hard rock or edging toward metal if not out right metal. Just check them out you will not be disappointed.
Bandmaid is all female metal rock... Probably the best in the wold... Last time we watch in singapore 2019, it was a blast and plus they are very friendly especially if you speak Japanese!
Nothing wrong with labeling a band with a genre at all. I mean they are a mixed bag but I would definitely say they're hard rock. Though they did have the odd "metal" moment on the word domination album.
@@Delvizual Just me or just you works great by itself, and I hate labels as much or more than anyone. But when you try to convey an abstraction to another person, you have to find a common term that both can understand in order to evaluate its relevance, merit, importance, etc. Then, and only then, can the person recieving the message be able to place it properly in their own mind. For instance, I'm telling 'so-and-so' 'whatever', but how would I tell him he would like it or enjoy it unless I equated or correlated it with something likely known to both of us? Like a category or label. In short, the answer is: Yes, absolutely. _Some_ things *need* to be labeled or categorized.
as a MASSIVE band maid fan and massive in lowercase trogly fan, HOW IS RU-vid ONLY JUST NOW SHOWING ME THIS VIDEO!! my respect for trogly just went up tenfold.
Band Maid are amazing. ! While Miku didn’t even touch a guitar until 2014, With Kanami as her teacher, she very quickly became a competent rhythm guitarist. I think Zemaitis saw Band Maid’s potential, and wisely created the Miku signature guitar. I’m hoping PRS will follow suit and come out with a Kanami Tono signature model, because she is an amazing lead guitarist and music composer.
@@ShoreyJr guitars have always and will always be referred to as "her" and instruments are not inanimate objects they are alive and have a tendency to breathe I dont understand why women get all butt hurt
I don’t use your channel to find new music or bands. But, holly crap....Band Maid is the shit. So much fun listening to them. The drummer is off the charts!
Band-Maid is great! Thanks for reviewing this! I'd love to see you review a Dean V Select Flame Maple signature model of Miyako from Lovebites. She's also an amazing guitarist.
There is a video including English sub tittles with Miku touring the Zemaitis factory.....really cool. And just to let you know that satin finish is created by hand with steel wool hence the ultra fine scratches you saw on back.
Awesome to finally learn more about this guitar style. I always remember seeing Beady Eye live, and Andy Bell having similar guitar. It always stood out to me, but I never knew exactly what it was. If I remember correctly it was a custom order. Cool to finally know more about this style. They’re definitely stage ready: I remember the lights reflecting off his guitar
Tony Zemaitis was a one-off custom instrument maker, a true idiosyncratic genius from concept to completion. And the work of master engraver, Danny O’Brien is spectacular , whether you love or hate the look. Good to see that Greco is doing a pretty decent job upholding the Zemaitis tradition.
Tony Zemaitis was a friend of mine here in England. A true eccentric mad cap genius. The origin of the metal front was to cut down noise. Danny O'brien a gun engraver friend of his started the acanthus leaves style engraving for the fronts as used by a number big names (honky tonk woman for example, the riff was played on a 5 string lp style guitar he made called macawber ) . Tony also made awesome accoustics. I have a bass of his, kind of rare and all of his guitars/basses had....soul. Thumbs up for Greco for keeping it high quality and just that little bit different.
I really enjoy seeing uncommon guitars like this. I'd like to see more videos about Japanese made Les Paul models and how they compare to the real deal. A lot of people claim their Edwards/Greco is better than a Gibson. I'd like to hear your opinion.
When comparing guitar’s people’s definition of “great” do “good” vary wildly. This guitar seems somewhat overpriced considering what you could get for the same price from a different builder. The brand name of this guitar is what is driving its price up (IMO). At the end of the day a guitar is great if You like it and are happy with it.
Thank you so much for reviewing the Flappy Pigeon. I've been a huge Band-Maid fan since 2015 and I'm so glad to see them getting more attention thanks to Miku's new signature guitar. Btw, for anyone interested in checking out their music, I highly recommend the live version of their song Domination that they posted on their RU-vid channel last year. It's one of their best songs and they're amazing live. Also, Trogly played a little bit of it in this video.
Check out BAND-MAID if you have not done so already, they are the best hard rock band on Earth! They are not like Silent Siren or Scandal, these women of BAND-MAID are an impossibly hard-rocking maid band! To the uninitiated, you have no clue what you have in store for you... Prepare to be blown away.
totally agree about BAND-MAID being the best band around right now - but also Silent Siren and Scandal are nothing to scoff at. Silent Siren's got incredibly catchy tunes and their bass player in particular is extremely good, and Scandal is like the female Japanese Green Day. They've been around 15 years and are probably the biggest influence to inspire this current generation of girls starting rock bands in Japan.
Band Maid is phenomenal! The "IT" factor for them is off the charts! Each member is outstanding in their own right. Misa, the bassist for the band has such a strong stage presence, she could hold her own against Steve Harris.
I have never heard of Band Maid but thanks for the lead. I will definitely check on their music. Am always interested to learn about bands I haven't heard of before.
I saw band maid live in Japan. They absolutely rip, and it's super weird to watch them go between the idol personas and face melting playing. Would recommend
For anyone wondering about this band, they layer catchy vocal melodies over hard-rock music. Are they real or a gimmick? Can they play? Are they a weeb band? I won't list a dozen songs I'll just say give their song "Dice" literally 3 seconds. It's awesome that you featured them on your channel. It's easy to tell that you really like them.
@@cepho8349 Apparently there are fans who love Japanese bands because they are just in love with all things Japanese - at least that's a common assumption made by people who don't get why people like foreign music. In reality, people who like Japanese bands tend to be just as picky and almost tribal about their choices as they are with bands from their own country.
A band that is as good as their drummer, and Akane Hirose is the best! Proof is in the hearing! All their music is on Spotify! They are awesome! Love Kobato guitar!
The plate engrave design was drawn by Miku for the guitar, and the words above the Zemitis on the plate is what she sometimes says instead of po, as you’ve mentioned early on in the video. This was a much better video than I expected. Great video. I’m jealous you got #4. 🙂
I own two "Z 'es " and love them both . Aces & eight's and a one off from NAMM show . Never would want to open them up , So thanks for the show . Trogly : What is your favorite Band Maid song ? The one I am listening to at the moment . Big fan of you and B. M .
they are available still but you're going to be north of $5000 for one on the resell market. TBH, after all the shipping nonsense I went through, if you can land one under $5500, you're doing really well.
@@sjnix7044 Not to mention I live in the UK. That's pretty much a big no. Doesn't matter, my dream guitar is on its way as we speak so I can't complain XD
Nice guitar - and seemed to inspire you, as you peeled some tasty licks :) Definitely sounding good there... Good band, too; I follow them as well as Lovebites. Asia has been kicking out metal and all-female hard-rock bands at a rate 10X any other country.
Props to you Austin for covering Band Maid. They're awesome. If anyone is looking for specific songs of Band Maid worth checking out here are 5. "Puzzle". "Secret My Lips". "Non-Fiction Days". "Anemone". "Thrill". Bonus song: "YOLO". Band Maid is sick. Highly recommend.
Miku is the living Flappy Pigeon, who doesn't care what people think about herself; she just move from zero to hero. The Wonder Lady of 21st Century. LIVE FOREVER GODDESS MIKU & BAND-MAID!!! >> Edited: Sorry, I forgot to acknowledge your effort to this demo. Thank you so much! ;-D
I LOOOOOOVE this guitar! If they could make a cheaper production run, similar to this guitar, or even a double cut version, I don't think I could find any excuse not to purchase one.
A guy I used to know many years ago handed me one of his Zemaitis guitars (yeah, he has 3 if I remember) from the 70's. Absolutely an amazing guitar! People complain about tool marks on Gibson's, the real Zemaitis I played had them in several places but I thought it added to the look. Different animal than this, although I like this guitar.
Such big thanks for this video. The guitar was really interesting but I followed your recommendation to check out Band-Maid. Easily the best band I have come across in a very long time. Just fabulous.
Young mr. Trogly , i love watching your show. I love all the guitars you play and show. From the time I was 10 i wanted to learn how to play a guitar but i could never save enough money for the guitar, amp . All i have is the cord to the amplifier, the poster with the notes and the tracks on how to play many songs. This past may 15th I turned 60 and it's time to give up learning to play guitar. Have a very blessed day.
