43 minute scuba dive at the Train Bridge in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. This is a tidal river so must be dived at slack tide. Water temps 53°F/11°C). Max Depth 23'/7M. Visibility was excellent on this day and we saw lots of life including a clearnose skate, striped burr fish, puffers and lots of other fish and crabs.

Woah this is where I fish often, I always wonder whats down there. Now I realize why I get snagged and I always get hits but never bring in a fish- damn puffers ! llol great work though, you should dive a little further where the crrab boats dock where the sandbar is- I'm wildly curious if the bottom is the same or more sandy

You may be seeing crabs that have molted. Crabs shed their shells as they grow. When they shed out of their shell they exit with a soft body That hardens up within a day or so. The "old skin" just ends up washed up. You can always read up on crab molting to fully understand the process.
@brandonseyfried1251

Yup. Lifeguarding there in the 80s I'd see live horseshoe crabs all the time. When one would wash up the bathers would lose their minds. We would just walk down, pick them up by the tail, walk them to the south end of our beach (usually a north-to-south sweep), and toss them back in. "OMG! Why'd you throw it back in!?" "It lives here. You don't."

@travelingwithelliot8001

For temps in the 50's I wear a drysuit and 5mm gloves and hood. For the 60's and up I will wear a 7mm jumpsuit with a hood and gloves. I saw people there last weekend (April 30) with wetsuits and the temp was 51.

@@travelingwithelliot8001 thank you for the info. I’m guessing I could probably get away with a 7mm suit. I have a 5/3 but figured it wouldn’t be enough right now. I want to get in the water. Yes we beach and underwater metal detect. We just got back from St. Thomas and it has me itching to get back into the water here lol. We don’t scuba though, we use surface air supply systems. Mostly shallow water dives, max 30’🤙

@Patrick-ni7bs
@Patrick-ni7bs 2 года назад
Fishing isn't "bad" it's commercial fishing that's tacking away most of the fish in the ocean. Also this is NJ dude it isn't some tropical Hawaiian Bay with a bunch of coral and tropical fish and other stuff. Also just because you see less fish in one area doesn't mean they've been overfished. Fish don't stay in one area for they're whole lives they move to you know
