Did you know, the Gen 6 and 8 Fossil Pokemon were designed by Hitoshi Ariga. Some of his designs include the Corviknight Line, Mega Bedrill, The Vikavolt Line, and more recently the Garganacl Line, Hisuian Sneasel and Sneasler, Espathra, and Flutter Mane. He is also a big fan of Jurassic Park.

If you're wondering why there aren't any Fossil Pokémon introduced in Alola, it's because Alola is geologically speaking, a pretty recent island, popping up a million years ago, give or take. Meaning, no real fossils could live there since most fossils that're like that is minimum, five to ten million years old. Gen 9 makes sense with Paradox Pokémon. But Gen 2 is a mystery...I still don't know why they didn't introduce at least one new fossil line.

Hisuian forms and evolutions are not past or ancient forms, they are regular regional forms that just existed in a past climate of Sinnoh. It is confirmed in game and on the Legends Arceus website that some of the hisuian Pokémon came after the original forms. It is never confirmed if they are actually extinct or not since they are retcons into the series so we may have to wait and see. I’d say the Sinnoh fossils being level 20 upon revival is the right level. That’s about the same as the wild Pokemon at that point in the game. The issue is that they’re really bad for the upcoming gyms (Maylene = Fighting-types and Crasher Wake = Water-types). Fortunately, they’re really good into Fantina in Platinum since Cranidos gets Dark-type moves and Shieldon resists Ghost-type moves prior to Gen 6.

you could also backtrack to revive them before the fight with Gardenia if you really wanted to, however shieldon realistically would be the only useful one since cranidos is just bad against her....then again gen 4's fossils suck anyway since they are so hyper focused into 1 route...and don't do particularly well in it: rampardos suffers from being too slow and frail, while bastiodon suffers from a terrible typing, poor HP, no recovery and being unable to move the battle much personally i think cranidos has a worse time since it does poorly against Gardenia, Maylene, Crasher Wake and Byron, as the ONLY gym leader it's effective against is Candice

Gen 1 definitely handled fossils quite well. But having to wait until the cinnabar lab to revive them deffo was too late. You should have been able to revive them at the pewter museum (or put the science lab there) so you'd be really rewarded for backtracking. Either put it behind cut so it's put off until later or really, really reward stubborn backtracking trainers by giving them a level 25 pokémon before the second gym if they seriously took the fossil and backtracked all the way to pewter just to revive it. Now what about the amber? Have that be obtained in the pokémon mansion and revived into a Level... dunno 40, Aerodactyl at the museum. Basically, swap the lab and museum or something.

@DracoSafarius 9 месяцев назад
Well it's not actually past and future, just the idea of them. If there was actual time travel of that scale going on Dialga would have showed up to stomp it out, but the whole thing got left running for months/years. It's more akin to teleporting and then mutating Pokemon found in the region with the two differing energy types (one exacerbating their natural physical attributes, the other forcibly adding electric and steel) that are related to Tera (and slightly to Mega Evolving as we see with the Salamence variant). Still, is weird that they didn't show up at all, especially in Scarlet.

Cue the revelation that the Galarian fossils are actually just Galarian forms of Archeops (Flying/Electric), Relicanth (Ice/Water), Lapras (Ice/Dragon) and Dragapult (pure Dragon; its 'dex entries explicitly state that they're extinct and appear as ghosts.) Now that I think of it, why can't the other Fossilmons appear as ghosts? Is Gengar actually just Caracosta? Not only that, if its possible to revive fossilised creatures that have been dead for billions of years, why can't we revive a Marowak that was run over by a bunch of gangsters? Also, if this revivication technology is able to preserve memories (as shown in the Tirtouga episode of the anime), why have no potential dictators used it to extend their dominion for all eternity? Clearly the only logical solution is that these fossil revivers run on necromancy. To that I must also wonder why the Pokemon world isn't on the cusp of a zombie apocalypse. Or maybe the gates of PokeHell are torn open one day when some kid wants to get a Kabuto and Lumiose City gets obliterated while Ash Ketchum gets fused with Pikachu and is given the choice of becoming Arceus' tool in spreading lifeless order across the galaxy, teaming up with Giratina to destroy all law and create a chaotic mess, or saying "screw it" and rebooting the Pokemon Multiverse in his image. Indeed, there are many questions that the Pokemon games have yet to answer.

@andrewince8824
@andrewince8824 9 месяцев назад
@@GoinGreninja charmander is just an example. I'm thinking more like a game set in the past (similar to Legends Arceus) but with more focus on humans literally just arriving and finding pokemon which have thus far never been observed by humans and therefore which exhibit different traits as many pokemon have, or so it seems, developed into niches suited around human habitation. Meowth and Grimer for example often get mentioned in pokedex entries for their apparent dependence on human settlement. Now wouldn't it be cool to have a Sabre-toothed Persian or a Wooly Ryhorn. I'd love to see pokemon as humans first encountered them and how humans developed their new societies with these creatures in mind. Why not expand on Legends Arceus?

I'd think of it less as a retcon and more as a way to distance themselves from the past. When Pokémon was first created, Jurassic Park was all the rage. @GoinGreninja
@GoinGreninja 9 месяцев назад
Fossils would be in the prehistoric age like with real life. Hisuian forms would be there 160ish years ago from the present of the Pokémon world since PLA looks to be taking place in late feudal Japan. And Past Paradoxes are likely in a separate timeline altogether since they don't seem to fit with the current understanding of the prehistoric age of the Pokémon world, since it's stated that Scream Tail was around a billion years ago even though the only things that were around back then in our world and presumably in the Pokémon world as well are bacteria and other multicellular organisms that'ren't proper animals or such.

It feels so impersonal and boring when you catch/get given something at a high level. ...also, the "new" broken/overpowered Exp Share is the worst thing ever to come to the games. It makes everything overleveled with no effort needed. Sure it's to make things easier for their target demographic of kids, but at least give people the option to turn the thing off.
