What's Wrong with the Beef you Buy!

Why beef in the grocery store gets more expensive, but ranchers make less money than before.
When you buy beef in the grocery store, you don't know if you are eating local beef, foreign beef, or even pink slime ( not beef at all)! Buy beef locally or from a rancher so that you know what you are getting.
Top quality Montana beef can be purchased from marbled.com and you can use the Code TRINITY to get 10% off!

RETIRED USDA CHEMIST; these gentlemen are EXACTLY CORRECT about what the meat industry does to meat & USDA allows them to do it! From my point of view, USDA "WORKS for the Meat Industry" rather than Actually "Regulating it"! You pay taxes & your taxes pay USDA to "WORK for the meat industry" & "NOT WORK FOR YOU"! The Government is supposed to "Work for YOU, the PEOPLE"!

That's what's wrong with failing health of America and the rest of the world. Corn is full of GMO. Food is for nutrition #1 not about what only tastes good. Cows eating corn and soy-based feed is unnatural and most importantly unhealthy for the cow. You are what you eat same goes for the cow sadly they don't have a choice. Why it's done, is simply to render a quick larger profit. And not maintaining pastures correctly. Support the grass fed cattle industry.

Our local ranchers here , except one, were bought up by a big box corporation. Their sales tanked after that. However the one that didnt sell out saw his business skyrocket. Residents from neighboring counties/parishes became prominent customers. Big box corporation tried to buy his business again but was unsuccessful so they went through the federal and local system and got him to start paying higher fees and higher taxes which naturally he had to increase his prices to stay in business. I dont know how long before he relents and sells his business but i hipe our community stands together and keep him afloat. Dont ever believe what the label says. Remember these are the same people who supported vaccinations and other radical ideas leading towards poor health. Profit means more than quality.

It is about the same as Grass fed/finished from an Arizona Ranch I buy from. Good stuff and healthier. There are many ranchers that process their own beef. USDA approved facilities and are part of a 3rd party certification process that insures the beef is what they say it is.

Part of the solution is bringing back the local butcher shop. It is the final step between the local slaughterhouse and the individual shoppers. If you want to build a community, then you need locals to do business with local shops. I can only think of one butcher shop in by community of nearly 300,000. I remember as a kid (I'm 73 y.o.) of going with my parents and grandparents to local butcher shops that processed local carcasses in various cuts. Local shops would be good not only for beef producers but also pork, mutton, goal, and poultry producers.

And if you think they are hard to find well you probably pass atleast 5 ranchers on your way to Wal-Mart or Costco! And you dont hv to live out west, i live in north GA and we hv plenty no thier not a big rancher like out in the grassland out west but thier enough to supply thier little communities..Yes its a little higher but is your family not worth it! But if you figure it all out all the way to the end of the slaughter then its really not that much more,you may say i cant afford to buy a whole cow well get 5 people or however many just 2 whatever and yall go in on one cow and split the meat between everyone that put thier money in it,its not that hard or expensive if you do this. My neighbor and i go in half on a cow and the meat last both my family and his all yr.. both of us hv a family of 4 per household. Now we don't go wild on eating it but it does last us, and its so much of a better meat.

I have noticed when I grab meat in a pinch (usually forget to thaw something) from a grocery store my stomach doesn’t feel right and often upset. Unlike when I cook beef product from the rancher/locker. A young couple of friends of mine in Az are similar with any protein his wife eats from the grocery store resulting in a frequent trip to the ER. But fish they catch themselves, wild game and protein direct from ranchers she is always ok with. Stuff in the stores is chemically added poison anymore.

I work in an industrial beef slaughter and packing company. USDA is not working up to standard. There were any times we should have been temporarily shut down. My girlfriend also worked there as a QA (quality assurance). She told me that with briskets once theyve been processed the final stage is to inject them with some kind of liquid mixture just to make them seem bigger and heavier because at the end of the day it all comes down to money. Also, the washing the meat part they talk about, when the meat is on the production line towards the end before they get to the packaging team it goes under some sprayers that spray this "sanitizing" mixture to keep the meat free of pathogens. When i was selected to go to a safety meeting that included very little people the guy holding the meeting said that just a drop of that substance without being diluted would clear a room thats about 15ft by 15ft of all adults very quickly. Yet we we douse the meat in a diluted version of this stuff. I have so many stories its just unbelievable.

The butcher we went to was out of business in the late 70’s, and the produce farm decreased their production to mainly pumpkins in the fall in the early 80’s. Sad state of the country.

People have been programed to buy beef from the big box stores and they no-longer see small farmers as a source of beef. I take great care in raising each cow, bull and calf. I give my cattle all the hay and grass they can eat, and they never go to a feedlot. They are always on pasture and always happy til the last day. When I try to sell beef processed by licensed butchers, most people say they prefer to buy from the big box stores. Sometimes they want me to eat the beef first before they will try it.

For some odd reason I am suddenly interested in this topic, maybe the Texas fires and all the lost live stock. I don’t eat much meat but have felt it necessary lately to gain more muscle and strength on me. I bought some organic ground beef at Costco and I noticed it really smelled bad, like rotten. So what I really want to know is do you humanly slaughter and how is that done? I cant really enjoy meat because of the slaughter aspect.
@MintRanch
@MintRanch 3 месяца назад
@@lovesdogs8616Hi, I transport the live animal to the butcher, the they do all the processing and packaging. They are licensed butchers in Texas and handle all the processing. I can ask them how they process the animal, the next time I go there. The cows are more than just meat. My farm used to have grass that grew 6 ft tall when I did not have cows. Now the cows keep the grass well mowed at 1 inch tall. The reason the Costco meat smells bad is because it has bacterial growth and you should probably not eat it. Raw meat is not supposed to smell bad. A large percent of the meat in the big box stores come from far away countries. If the meat is processed in the US, the USDA allows them to put the "US beef" label in it. The big box store meat is transported hundreds of miles from places like the Amazon rain forest and then processed in the US and relabeled as US beef. As the box store meat is transported hundreds of miles, it sometimes picks up a few strains of harmful bacteria.

It’s not just beef, I used to drive refrigerated trucks and haul broccoli from Laredo to Kent Washington and then back to Arlington Texas and then open up the doors of my trailer and I would have all these little boxes of broccoli stamped Made In the USA and this was in February there’s no broccoli 🥦 being grown in Texas in February and get unloaded at Walmart Distribution. So I agree 100% with you. We catch wild pigs and load them up in a livestock trailer and then haul them to Dallas for slaughter and processing into boxes to be flown to France and sold as “Wild Boar”. It used to be horse meat being transported to France but now it’s wild pigs.

The idea that trucking broccoli up from Mexico (I assume), across the Rockies all the way up to Washington, having a facility box it, then truck all the way back to Texas, under expensive refrigeration the entire way, is more cost-effective than producing and cold storing it locally, is mind-boggling to me. There have to be a bunch of non-economic incentives (tax, regulatory) behind these goofy practices.

Thanks for the information. They must be doing the same thing to pork and fowl as well. You've opened my eyes to what I suspected was going on. Time to share this information and support our local ranchers.

Thank you gentlemen, this was so educational for me. I just went and bought on sale a whole bunch of that box hamburger to 75 a pound thought I was getting the best deal. I will now go and find a direct cell Beef producer here in Utah, and pay the price, I am so sorry for being one of those consumers, always looking for the bargain. I am now repenting.
