If some Koreans talk to you, they might just want to greet global people in English. When I was a child, I said to someone 'Hello', and then the man smiled for me. It was a very good memory to me :)

Loved this. As a Brit, it is so interesting to hear other European’s experiences in Korea. I love your format, you get straight to the questions and your questions are interesting. Often a lot of these interviews are filled with fillers, but you get straight to it. Great job 🙌🏻🇬🇧

I experienced both in France and Korea where random people help me with my big luggage. In France, one old man helped me with my big luggage down from the airport bus in Paris Montparnasse and in Korea one guy helped carry my bag in metro staircase. I dont even have a chance to say thank you..coz he gone in a blink of eye. And it is sooo trueee that there are so many lovey dovey couple in korea. I went to see the cherry blossom with my sister and friends. Couples are everywhere and we started to joke with each other saying 'why do i even go to this place with you girls'. Never felt sooo single in my life hahahahahaja.

Like in the Netherlands we are used to Indonesians and Caribbean people , the Dutch colinezed them over 300 years. And we had contract workers from Turkey and Morocco. Maybe we feel connected ? It’s so interesting to think about what people perceive as normal or not. Because in America my current semester tuition at a public university is almost $10,000 with scholarships so 5,000 to me is quite cheap but compared to the girl from France I see how it can be different. In America things tend to vary independently by state almost. So sometimes things are accessible while in other places they aren’t

I’m British. No idea what she’s talking about at 5:33 maybe she worded it wrong? Or it’s not the whole of Europe and just her country but in wales and England. that would be considered cheating if you were dating. Unless they both decided to have a open relationship but that is extremely rare.
@user-bn8tk4md6b
@user-bn8tk4md6b Год назад
No she means that typically you would date someone a few times and get to know them before becoming "exclusive" and "in a relationship." But it's very different in Korea because there is no "dating" phase. You become exclusive bf/gf first and then get to know each other. Thats why you can hear people saying here that there are so many couples in Korea... and generally relationships don't last long just because to them a "relationship" isn't necessarily deciding to commit long term but deciding they like each other and want to go on a few dates and see what's up

I used to be on Japanese based church here in Portugal and things were different to what we Westerners are used to . I remember we had Ikebana classes and we’re told to place a little towel under the scissors so that you won’t disturb the person next to you with the noise. And we learned ( At least few of us. i said few of us because things took a bad turn) to value even the little things in life . Besides, i can't have vaccines when I was a baby , my doctor advised my mother to not let them vaccinate me due to my medical histoy. so when i was 14, my mom spoke of a trip to Japan and that people that wore face masks. so starting wearing it. and since then it's been my only protection. of course because of that i faced prejudice here in the West. Well, it’s 2022 now and nobody is laughing now well, few still do but most don’t laugh anymore at me. Anyway, we Westerners need to learn from Asians. i only mentioned japan because i was talking about my own experience and at the time, i didn’t know anything about Korea. . So please don’t come at me. . I think maybe South Korea would be more accepting of foreigners if some ( if not all) would do a research on Korean culture and try to understand it before going to Korea . i’m not trying to trigger anyone. i’m just saying it so that the shock would be less…. shocking , if you understand what I mean.
@unka2007

You seem to sound very arrogant to me ( Westerners should learn from “ Asians” ) :( well Japan and South Korea are more advanced and richer than Portugal :) thanks :)

Not for wearing masks. I do believe in getting the immunity healthy. Because that’s what fights off infection. Also people need to have manners how cough, sneeze, yawn without spreading their germs. Masks hides the face and I rather see it.

As a Korean born and raised in France and still not seen as apart of the French because I am not European (and I am completely okay with that) I don't understand why foreigners go to Korea and expect to be accepted into korean life just because they live there? You're not Korean
@gogogadget9126
@gogogadget9126 Год назад
I agree the acceptance that foreigners seek from Korea is naive. It's a mix of self entitlement for some. Those people believe that they should automatically be accepted because they either live or vist there and the Korean people should be grateful. Then there's people who just want a genuine connection with the people but fail to understand that it's not impossible but if you dont speak the language and understand the culture norms you cant expect much out of it.

I am a Jamaican living in Germany and I must and do accept the fact that I am seen as a foreigner. I think it is stupid for the Europeans to want that which isn't true for even themselves. It's diffrent in Jamaica because of the size of the island and the fact that the island was shared with two different race and culture before it was colonised first by the Spanish the the English. The English had brought people of different races and culture and all placed them there and some how they accepted the fact it is better to get along than to fight. They inter-married and shared their cultures over hundreds of years. And even though the greater numbers are of African desendance they themselves were from different countries in Africa spoke different languages and had different appearance. They had one thing in common and that is they will not be enslaved to the British. The others that weren't from Africa also shared this opinion but the Africans were the ones who fought because they were treated poorly. This common goal united the cultures and this is true " should you ever visit Jamaica no one would look twice ". It's more likely they would think you're Chinese because we have a lot of Chinese living there. First when you speak and the accent is out you will be welcomed. Everywhere you have nice and not so nice people, I think it's the same in Korea or anywhere else.
@basugunja
@basugunja Год назад
@@celianeher7637 Why Chinese? No European in your country should be looked as a Chinese because racially and even visually Chinese and Europeans look different totally. You Jamaicans should understand this.
@SY-fp6ng

You ARE European if you're: born there; and have a citizenship. Not being seen as French is pure unadulterated racism. Regarding Korea, just because you're a foreigner doesn't mean discrimination or second class citizenship is okay, such as not getting into certain clubs, foreigner prices, etc
