I've been sowing seeds for a few years now and I still get excited when they start to germinate. When you were showing us your Lupins I could sense your excitement too. Have a great week.

Wow! I thought I had a lot of seeds😀. You are growing a lot of perennials that I have in my garden. I love Monarda. So sorry to hear of the damage to your lovely greenhouse. The same thing happened to mine in storm Isha. I made a video about it 😁. I have subscribed and look forward to watching all of your videos. Your garden is stunning. Diane x

You're so welcome! Hope this works in your area too 😁. (And save a few seeds just in case nature decides to not go your way 🤓 and they don’t come up. That way you can still sow in the spring.)

Hallo guys! I followed yout your example and am trying Winter sowing for the first time😂 I'm very anxious to see if I'm successful! I usually plant in Spring but will see how it works this way. You made it look so easy. Do you plan to keep all the plants in your garden when they germinate or put somme in the cemetery or give to friends? 😮 Cant wait to see what comes next! Good job❤
@perennial-garden

Wooo hoooo! Yay to winter sowing. You’ll have way more time for other things in the spring now 🥰 We’ll sell a lot of the plants at local markets here in the area - we join a lot of those during the growing season. We can’t put any at the cemetery, they have a contract with a supplier - so anything new has to come from them 🤓. And… all of our neighbors get plenty of plants that we have too many of 😂

WoW! What a variety of plants you are growing. I am scared to sow half hardy plants in winter as the seed packets always say to start in spring indoors. I can't believe all tose different plants will survive the Winter and start growing as the soil warms up. I obviously molly coddle my plants too much, lol! Can I sow HHA in winter or just HA and HP? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us- brilliant! Happy gardening 😃

Thanks for watching! We sow perennials and hardy annuals here at ours. Of course if something else has worked for you in the past… stick to that 💚. Whatever gets our gardens growing, do that 🥰

I am behind this year and don't have anything to sow! Hopefully by your next video I can sow something. Would you kindly tell me what the sprayer is called that you are using? I am in Canada and haven't seen one like that yet and use other sprayers that do a poor job and usually knock over seedlings. It was so lovely to watch your video today thank you so much!
@perennial-garden

Thanks for asking! It’s a cheap pump sprayer from a store here called Biltema (a store that sells everything from light bulbs to car parts). I looked it up online and it was just called “pump sprayer” in Danish. No brand name or anything. It is 1.5 liters tho - and we have to pump it before spraying, if that helps.

I’m in the states in zone 7a and our temps have already started to be about 14-20C during day and 0-10C overnight Have I missed my window for starting perennial seeds in the greenhouse? Should I put them in the fridge?
@perennial-garden
@perennial-garden 7 месяцев назад
It sounds like you should be ok to still winter sow with those temperatures. You can always use the fridge method if that’s easier for you. I sure hope they all germinate for you ❤️❤️ (hope ours do too!) 😍

Hi! Thanks so much for watching 🥰 In Fredericia (we're a coastal village (East coast)), the summers are comfortable and partly cloudy and the winters are long, very cold, windy, and mostly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from -1°C to 21°C and is rarely below -8°C or above 27°C. This week ranges from 0-8C. The past weeks we’ve had minus evenings for several days in a row.

Thank you for your content. Your videos are always compact, filled with information and very comprehensive. I live in central Germany. Do you think I can winter sow zinnias since I do not own any grow lights and heat mats? Are zinnias considered a hardy annual seed? Thank you
@perennial-garden
@perennial-garden 7 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for your sweet message. You can presow Zinnias in mid/end April or sow directly in the ground end May/June Zinnias are not hardy, they do not like any cold/frost. Good luck with them☺

Thank you for including the list of perennials we can winter sow. It made it easy for me to add to my spreadsheet. Another great video. I love that you guys are excited as we are to sow seeds. It's not just dirt, it's our babies!! Your garden is absolutely beautiful! I'm now going to check if you have a video of cleaning up the garden and cutting off the dead stuff.
