Hey. Boks here. I enjoy your informed and level headed discussion and the knowledge you have of both teams. The endearing way you speak of both teams is awesome. 😢 It’s sad that we are pitted against St Patrick’s. It’s like playing against family! I have a soft spot and huge respect for the Irish nation. If we don’t win etc, I wish them a final ether against France or the AB’s. This is a longtime coming.
What an exciting prospect 1 vs. 2. Whoever wins this weekend I hope we meet again in the final. I have absolute respect for the Irish and may the best team win. GO BOKKE!!!!
As a Springbok fan, I'm very excited and very nervous about SA vs Ireland. In my opinion, Ireland is the single team that's the most likely to match the Springboks' physicality.
@@klaus1292 That's true but Ireland have a knack for working out defences in real time, often spending the first twenty min apparently going nowhere and then changing the way they're attacking to one that works. It's rugby, you can't heavily defend the centre and out wide and have players left over behind the line as cover against short kicks and wingers in place to stop 50/22s. The springboks can defend all of them but not at the same time, it might be a much bigger game of cat & mouse than people expect in the first half. Ireland could be fast enough to get the ball out wide before the rush defence can stop them, or Bundi Akis been buldozing enough to get over the gainline against it, or Johnny might be skillfull enough to kick over it. Or none of it will work and South Africa stop them, but Ireland aren't one dimensional like Scotland, it won't be enough to just try and block the link from 10 to 12
The contest will be won in the set piece and discipline fronts. The team that puts scoreboard pressure and maintains discipline wins by 10 points otherwise the margin will be greater with the other team chasing the game and giving opportunities in the process
No body in their right mind would write SA off as an Irish fan I just want Ireland to play the great rugby they have been rest is in the lap of the Gods cards could have a say as well.
From the turn of this century Ireland have played SA 14 times, 7 victories apiece, 9 games played in Ireland 6-3 in favour of Ireland, 5 played in SA, 4-1 in favour of SA. Last Ireland win in SA, 2016, last SA win in Ireland 2010 although Ireland have won 6 from the last 10 meetings. So it's a 50/50 call for this one.
Ireland is SA bogey team. Similar situation with Australia. South Africa is a much stronger rugby nation than Ireland. The other stats support that statement. In 2023 Ireland is the favourite. This is a golden generation of Irish players including foreign imports. SA lost key players. I expect Ireland to win, but not start selling the idea of parity between the rugby nations over time.
@@garyadams2913 yes, set the cruise control at 55mph and trundle down the highway. Ireland have more or less a fully fit a team, might be different if the two teams meet later in the tournament, but then lots of crying from boks fans about Marx being irreplaceable, so I guess injuries can go both ways, funny how SA fans are so bolshy about this game, they are clearly secretly crapping themselves already thinking up excuses should they lose.
As a proud Bok supporter, I want the Springboks to win but I think it's just to close to call. Either way, it will be a great game and I can't wait for it!
Absolute great team! That French victory in 2022 was to my mind the toughest and roughest game Les Bleus had played ine last 4 years. Now that was an absolute feat considering the level of the Irish! And that defeat against les Verts ("The Greens") was SOOOO impressive! Amazing team! Good luck to you guys!
Understood CJ. Much respect and lets look forward to a great game. Technically it doesn't really matter who wins as its France or NZ next but go South Africa.
@@bosstrading928Different beast with foreign players. Yeah, you are right. How can you feel proud of such a team? Where is your patriotism? Treating international rugby like club rugby.
I really respect the Irish rugby team, Irish folk I general. I Irish people are awesome but the Springboks man whoa they are a really tough and tricky proposition. I have a feeling they'll win by 10 points.
But rough as bullying but in Ireland safrica where beat there weeks ago I admit the heat willful damage will be cause for concern.abd the refs won't be kind seen world 🏉 are currently currupt
@@benvisagie8844 very true However applying great pressure allows room for mistakes and lack of discipline Lets see how it goes, hoping for a great game!
Greatest single compliment to this Ireland team is the amount of warnings being issued by the SA Fans in comments sections like this one. Will be an interesting bellwether of where both teams are…but that’s it…still have a v tough game v Scotland for Ireland and a tough QF if both get through…5 weeks post game until someone lifts the WC
Aki has a great connection with Sexton, they just click and bring out the best in each other, he has strength beyond his kg's and very determined at the moment.
@@benvisagie8844 And that will take PSDT out of the game so someone else gets through. What's interesting about this match is nearly everyone in both squads have been playing eachother regularly for the last 2 years. It's not like the All Blacks front row suddenly coming up against decent scrummaging props for the first time in 3 years.
Not much has been said about Ireland’s win streak, and I haven’t really paid much attention to it until now. Ireland are currently on a 15-match win streak. If they beat SA, it takes them to 16. To win the RWC, they would get to 20. The ABs hold the record at 18. That would make Ireland the best team ever. The only reason I mention this is with even a top team, the ability to keep winning eventually becomes too much. I fear for Ireland that the team is exactly at that place. Ironically, it may have been better if Ireland were on a lesser win streak.
Which one of the 2 teams can control the ball and pace of the game, will ultimately win the game, it starts upfront with the forwards like all rugby games, discipline is also another factor, can't wait for the game to start, it is gonna be the epic battle in this WC
Ireland played their A team and beat Romania them 82-8. The Boks played their B team and in some positions the C choice, even played a Scrummie at Flyhalf and won 78-0. The irish will need the "Luck of the Irish" with this one. Go Bokke 🇿🇦🇿🇦👌👌💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Northern hemisphere teams need more game time because the 6 nations was in feb. , a lot of teams are only clicking now that's why Ireland played a near full A team !
Boks A team do not have a No.10…all things being equal, Boks need two extra tries to beat Ireland accounting for the kicks they will miss. Hard to do that against Ireland.
@@DeusExMamiya but so did Romania have to play in 40C which would make their defence weaker if this is the road you want to take. You also played Romania in their first game.
@@ciaranoconnor4027 Brits aren't playing next weekend mate. If you bring a shillelagh on Saturday though I guarentee you you're waking up sore in the morning.
Both teams are coming in fully prepared for the other. Anyone who is writing off either team is hopeful. This game comes down to the slightest of mistakes. Both teams are so precise in exploiting weaknesses. If SA comes to the breakdown and forces penalties, they can frustrate the Irish momentum. If Ireland can beat the Springbok line speed their line play will succeed. Every dimension of the game is so robust between these teams. Every match before this matters not one lick. The field has changed. The lineups are different. The stakes are higher. Their follow-up matches matter differently. This is a once-in-a-lifetime match for these players and they will give every drop of blood, sweat and tears. As a SA fan, I am beyond excited to watch and no matter the winner (fingers crossed SA) we will watch a phenomenal match.
Agree 💯% These are both genuinely excellent teams. Very well matched. It could go either way, and will likely be decided by the finest of margins during those 80 minutes on the pitch. No-one can honestly say they *KNOW* who'll win it: belief is subjective. What I *do* know, is that this has the makings of a CRACKING game!! 🏉🏆 (Fingers crossed Ireland here.) Thanks for such an objective, well-reasoned comment. It's appreciated!
The Bokke have great dept and there isn’t much of a difference between their 1st & 2nd teams. Ireland played most of their 1st team to get more needed cohesion before playing SA. The Irish didn’t have the huge advantage of playing in a recent championship to get match fit. Put your house on it if you’re so confident of a win Mr Bokke. They are two great teams that play different styles, which waters the appetite. It’s going to be extremely difficult for any team to break down this SA defence, but if anyone team can, Ireland can. They’ve been planning for this match for a long time and nobody has really shown their cards yet. I’ll be there shouting for Ireland and celebrating afterwards. Gone on the Irish.. 🇮🇪🏉
The Irish are so egotistical its amazing how they try to forget their lack of success in worldcups. The Boks will put so much pressure on them from the onset that will incapacitate their gameplan like was the case with NZ. Ireland lacks gametime against big competition and it was evident against a poor Tongan team.
The Irish team are predictable. I can almost guarantee that they'll continue with Aki as their battering ram, running straight into the Bok loosies. They've been doing it none stop. So when the pressure is on they'll turn to what the know best.
Ireland need to fear no team. They are an outstanding generational side and should go deep. This is their time this year. The problem is France are also a generational team who have been waiting forever for a RWC win, a SA that can beat up every team on the planet and NZ who are just NZ who if they click and pull the trigger very few teams on the planet can stay with them. Best of luck the QFs are going to be brutal.
Very respectable commentary. Still can't see either team throwing everything at this game just to avoid France in the QF. Risk not worth the reward imo. Both teams will know that their readiness for the QFs is far more important than the opponent they'll be facing and both can back themselves to beat either France or the ABs.
Yes Either teams know they through (Ireland has Scotland but its very inlikely Scotland will worry Ireland - if they do it'll be very irregular) why go all out with 2 big teams waiting in QF Both teams will push hard but to a point Go SA
Losing Marx is like losing Sexton or Dupont, he is arguably the best hooker in the World, he carries better than any hooker, better at the breakdown and technically perfect at the line outs, that's the bad news. If the Boks can dominate against a very strong Irish scrum, then we stand a good chance at taking this game. Very tough to call
Ah gotto love the Irish commentary! Haven't got passed the QF before, if in group C or D they make the SFs but we all know the draw is horrid. Saturday will be an epic game, I do see Ireland struggling to get over the line and their defense won't keep this Bok team out. If it goes that way, will be interesting to see how they go against France, as much as I want them to win, I think France takes that. Don't fear the Boks you say, do so at your peril!!!
I really think this will be the second biggest game of the tournament and it will be followed by the same two teams meeting in the final for the biggest game of the World Cup.
Andy Farrell needs to focus on winning the WC, not on trying to give everyone game time, just because they want to feel part of the squad. Being sentimental is not going to get you far in a WC. Andy needs to be ruthless and focus on winning every game at any cost, not on worrying about unproven players not getting game time and their feelings about it. There's no time for that in a WC, especially with how Ireland's group has played out
If Ireland win, Boks can still feel thye have a great chance in the final rematch bcos they have several big names to bring in , and different combos. Whereas if Ireland lose, I expect they will hope to avoid SA in the final.
@@ChrisBreen-ox1sn Hi Chris we'll talk after the encounter!!!???👍 Springboks are at the World Cup for 1 reason only ....To make it 2 in a row!! AND BE THE BEST TEAM ON EARTH. How many World Cups have Ireland won???Springboks will win.Scotland might send you guys home early AGAIN!!!!!
Looking forward to a great duel on Saturday. In my opinion this boks side is the best we've ever had as its the perfect blend of skill, brawn, athleticism and discipline. Ireland also seem to have their best team ever so this could go either way but my gut says boks will get the w as they'll be too strong for the Irish and have a master tactician in rassie. Atb to both teams.
World rugby has evolved so much since 2003 and many teams have improved. Look at Fiji who have beaten England & Australia this year. Just 5 years ago nobody would've believed that. I don't think Ireland fear South Africa. They definitely respect them as do every other team but fear amongst 1st tier nations sounds silly to me. As a South Africa fan I hope the Boks win but I expect a stiff challenge from the Irish.
Whomever controls the set piece, breakdown, gainline and keeps their infractions to a minimum will take this game. It's going to be a tough game...Go BOKS!
To be very fair, the history between Ireland and the Springboks is quite even. They don't have the psychological fear Ireland would have of, say, the All Blacks, who took a century to beat. That said, there is no denying the depth of South Africa and their form. This world cup officially starts on Saturday.
@@bosstrading928south africa are favourites at the bookies. But I think this is definitely the 2 top teams at the moment and hope its a great game and no cards🙏🏻
How are they better? You barely won at home last time against the boks with points left on the table too! You say it's the best team in 2019 you were number 1 also. I will be impressed if you can get past the quarter finals, either NZ or France, pick your poison
Does Ireland have a back up for Sexton? He is really getting on and will he have the speed to play his normal excellent game? His team will have to protect him…..
World cup time is really the only time South Africa put together all their best players from around the world. Also, most wins Ireland have against South Africa was played at home in Dublin at the end of a long season for the Boks. Things will be different on Saturday.
@@charlesvanonselen6251 I hope you're saying that tongue in cheek because the saffas are on another planet when it comes to arrogance. Like literally go to any vid about Ireland rugby and it's always saffas mouthing off, no other countries, and this was even before the competition started
Well done AB's. You showed class and a little humility in the lead up to this game. At least we will now be saved from a thousand Irish commentators and pundits talking as though they'd already won it. They counted them chickens too early. Frankly, they could all learn a little humility. Alan Quinlan was the only commentator with humility and an opinion that it's never over till the lady sings. Boy, was it getting tiring listening to all the ":We're the best team on the planet" stuff. Well guess what, you're not anymore. There are a few shows I'm keen to go watch now. A little humble pie is going to be on the menu. Now, for tonight's game Boks vs France. I'm hoping the Boks will see you in the final
Individual brilliance: O'Driscoll>Sexton. From a team perspective, Sexton has a greater impact on the team. Bok supporter here and can say we have never had a 10 like Sexton. Gerber> O'Driscoll though.
That’s a fair comment. O’Driscoll’s skill, sheer athleticism, balance and deceptive power for a small guy allowed him to produce individual moments that changed big games…but as a strategic director for the team, distributor and galvaniser, Sexton is unparalleled. Certainly Ireland’s best ever 10 and if they win the World Cup, surpasses O’Driscoll as best ever player overall.
This hype talking Ireland really makes me only think of England vs the Boks 2007 & 2019. England 2003 Champs and in 2007 England 0 and Boks 36 the hype talk of these the NH teams man it’s just something else. Respect the Boks and be very very careful the Springboks are not your average team…
SA rugby has evolved over the years, with the URC which SA teams are playing many lessons are learned. But, Ireland cannot for one second think of two factors 'Rassie and Nienaber' did not make any plans since they knew the Boks were playing Ireland in the group, yes, for Ireland the same. The Boks have evolved they can play any game at any time and this is what makes them unpredictable for Saturday. How deep can an Ireland player play, and how fast can the Boks make the game? Let us see who the Ref will be?
Can't wait for Ireland to be brought down to earth, super excited for that day......Springboks forever PS genuinely shocked at how arrogant you all are, always thought AB held that title 😮😮 Can't believe I am listening to this, 5 minutes of my life I can never get back 🙄🙄
I believe the upcoming game will be the highlight of the tournament. My view is that only three teams have a shot at reaching the final: New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. Ireland's backline is impressive, while South Africa has a strong forward pack. I anticipate a tactical battle with forwards trying to force mistakes and penalties, which is why Handrè Pollard is back to replace Malcolm Marx. If South Africa can disrupt Ireland's backline, they should win. Otherwise, Ireland might come out on top. Thankfully, this game doesn't carry too much weight, as the winner faces either New Zealand or France next. Personally, I'd consider giving some of the newer players a chance to play to avoid the likes of Eben Etzebet and Siya Kolisi getting further injured going into the quarter-finals.
@@taintabird23 Since the last RWC, South Africa has exclusively played teams in the top 10 (barring a single game against Georgia in the warmup to the Lions). So pick any of those.
@@MOLEPO_SA Australia were beaten by Fiji and are very poor, New Zealand have been beaten by Ireland three times over the last 2 year and Argentina, and beat SA earlier in the summer; Scotland, are a mid-table 6 nations side.
When Rassie and Jacques are coaching and running Irish rugby you guys are gonna love all of Rassies wild ideas and out the box thinking..........then you will call it genius.
Boks to win, this is exactly the hype England had when they beat NZ in the RWC 2019 and the Boks was the under dogs with England having one hand on the trophy 🏆. Watch out for the Boks hype talk is doing Ireland no favours facing the Boks with their bomb squad.
"Tedious"... You're willingly posting in the comment section, of a video on an Irish media channel... about Irish rugby... ❔❔❔ Probably not the right place for you if you find it "tedious". No-one is forcing you to watch a *47+ min* video of Irish supporters... you know... *supporting* their national team? I genuinely don't understand the thought process behind that.
Ireland continue to try and convince themselves that they will beat the Boks again. Ignore the stats and technical playbook. If they don’t muscle up, they have no chance. Have you guys been to South Africa? Have you seen what those guys grew up with to toughen them up. Hulle is ysters. All these pundits talk about bringing physicality on the day…on the day…really? It’s not something you turn on or off and you can’t hide from it on the day.
I really want to come back after the game.. im a huge fan of Irish rugby . But the last 2 years they have gotten waaaay to cocky . The springboks are not pushovers.. and they even said we would lose to scotland... that pissed me off . What a big head 👏
Irrelevant really as Ireland will have a lot tougher game agaist Scotland who they have alreasy written off...in the end no matter the result both will have to play either NZ or France and its a qf..so..its knockout. Abs will have Frizel and all.their injured players back...so...its irrelvabt who comes.1.or 2...it Will be equally difficult.
So wait... Is a group stage match now bigger than playing in a world cup final? A bit wierd. I'd think playing a world cup final would be bigger. Since this is what alot of poeple are saying regarding this match concerning Ireland. It's Ireland's "Biggest Game". I know this match is big but wouldn't getting past the quarters be bigger? Coz if they win this game (Which I think they could) but get knocked in the quarters again then what's the point? What's the point of treating this game as if it's a world cup final? But if they win this game and then win thier next biggest game the quarters how much more confidence would that give them to win the whole thing? Probably alot! But it's all understandable. Just my thoughts. Still gonna be a great game though... C'mon bokke! 😂👍
big for ireland BECAIUSE if they lose without that bonus point, means they face scotland with everything on the line. South Africa has already beaten Scotland, so more pressure on the Irish
If I were to guess I would say Finn Russell plays off emotion and flamboyamce whereas Johnny sees the path ahead with more structure. Two completely different players.
@@hannesbornman1045 correct, he survived this one, although I heard a SA pundit talking about the previous encounter, his words were 'PSDT went after Russell like a cheetah hunting down its prey' PTSD clearly slipped up in the last match
