I have often said that the so-called New Traditionalist movement in country was music's last collective gasp of consequence. And Earl Thomas Conley was one of its leading lights. One of the absolute masters. He is greatly, greatly missed.
Notice he didn’t have to prance around like a teeny bopper. The voice speaks for itself. My dad is a big ETC fan and got me into his music at a young age, I like it better now than I did then.
His voice takes me back. To a sunny day in the 1980s when i was a kid. we would hang on the lake with the boat. Fishing, swimming, family get together with picnics. And on any giving country station. They were playing great artists. Real genuine talented artist. And songs that actually meant something. Those days are over now. Now i am a lost in yesterdays
I have listened to country music all of my life , I never came across E T C until his Passing so Very Sad enjoying every song I can get my hands on . Thank You , Cant get enough .
I first heard this song on a country radio station when i was living in Boston, MA in the early 80's, i'ved loved it ever since. And 36 years later, im still listening. R I P, ETC
He really is an awesome singer And I love all of his songs But I gotta say the guy he is singing about in this song just has no consideration for his wife and doesn’t put her first, while his wife does all the compromising.
