Last year (since I live in the country) I kicked my old pumpkins down the hill towards our creek thinking the deer and squirrels would eat them. This year I had all kinds of colors and shapes of pumpkins and gourds growing through the forest😳😂😁
I live in a mountain area…Love this idea, just kick the pumpkins down the mountain and see what grows next year 😂…Maybe the deer, squirrels and rats can snack away from my garden areas😊…
Tomato plant tip: If you are nearing the end of tomato growing and you have a bunch of green or partly ripened tomatoes on your vines, you can pull them out by the roots, knock some dirt off the roots, and hand upside down in a cool, dry place (like a garage) and the fruit will continue to ripen on the vine. You can get several weeks of vine-ripened tomatos storing them this way.
I’m really love to see your suggestions and as well as hear your suggestion on different plantings. You really inspire me to have a better garden sending hugs, love, prayers and kindness with the daily dose of encouragement with a smile.♥️🙏🏼👍🏼🌹🇺🇸
Well Linda. I was one of those people who said she saw this before. But I never tried it and the idea of using DE in the dust buster was something no one else TOLD US ABOUT! Thank you for sharing what to do with those bugs once sucked up! Now once I purchase a dust buster for my garden I will be all set!!!! Love your channel and the extra ideas your subscribers add. Great community!
The garden is so beautiful, the air is fresh and peaceful. Taking care of the garden yourself helps you relax and calm down. Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures with everyone.
Stewart, it might be good to put a tag on the screen for people to subscribe. It is an absolute crime that Linda does not have higher numbers. You two do such an excellent job!
Thanks for the tip on agapanthus. I think this fall, I will gather some of the bulbs and put them in a planter to overwinter then replant them in the pot next spring. Hopefully 🎉they will bloom again. (Z-9b, Houston)
Hey there, I simply have run a drip line to my bird baths off my existing drip line. It is great I just blast them with hose to clean out fallen debris. Drip keeps water in bath all the time!
Thanks to you Linda I can’t be without Cool Jobs gloves. I also ordered the knife sharpener you recently recommended & I just finished putting together the gray outdoor deck box to stash away small every day items/tools. Much appreciated!❤🎃🍁
And that small pepper bush grows beautifully as a potted plant in rooms. It seems that this is the one that is very spicy. And grannies I add it to the dressing for borscht and to preserve eggplants and other vegetables. 💙💛
One by one, I'm taking out my annuals that aren't looking their best. We had a couple of nights of frost last week (33 and 34 degrees) here in N MS, Zone 7B/8A, so the coleus were nipped. I pulled a few into my garage so I could let them go to seed and collect seed. No rain here since Helene, but just now saw that we may get a system by next weekend. So not a drop of rain in October this year. At least we're having cool nights but the days are back up in the 80s now. Pumpkins are still looking good. I didn't buy many this year. And it's the first time in 30 years I didn't buy a single garden mum--all of mine overwintered from last year.
Please, please, please, connect me to the original episode about the Dustbuster. I absolutely love this idea, but I want more information on how to use it and what kind of it will help control.
Yes to the tired of watering! It has been an incredibly long season-some of my annuals have been in the ground since the end of March-time to go! We are still a little warm here in Louisiana, but nights are much cooler. So I did put out some greens, broccoli, and lettuces as well as pansies and snap dragons, and watering again. Have not had a rain here since the last of September.
Mums are beautiful in the fall. However, I’ve read they do nothing for pollinators. Maybe you should talk about that and encourage people to plant Asters.?
We are too hot too! Phx wondering if it will ever cool down here! I emptied out my garden box last week too.. I over watered so much this summer my black liner collapsed the bottom out in the middle 😣 so after I put some new supports in and a new liner, fresh dirt I’ll be in business again. I’m thinking I will paint it to match the garden like you did. 😁
The birdbath not only needs to have plenty of water , it mustn't be too deep, and be kept very clean to stop any diseases in the water , birds are very susceptible to germs.
You could plant Turnips are Mustard greens in your flower boxes to eat all winter. Your Periwinkle flowers were beautiful and here in NC they will come back up during the spring if you start working your flower beds and keeping it watered
Amazing the amount & variety of plant material that you have collected! Everything looks beautiful 😍 . I am in SoCal, agapanthus grows year round like a weed.
By the way, pumpkin seeds are very tasty and healthy! Dry and fry them and can be peeled like regular sunflowers. Pumpkin ones are much more expensive here.
Hi Linda. You have way to much going on. You are fabulous at all of it. So please try to narrow it down to what is most important to you. Don't worry about the lost tomato or a little herb plant. Keep working on what you enjoy most. You are fantastic at everything you do. Keep up the great work ❤
What is your secret for nandina. Mine never does well. I have several varieties and I noticed lately the lemon lime has splotches on it. Maybe a fungus? 8 a metro Atlanta. Any suggestions. Yours looks great
I would go ahead and plant the lettuce. If it gets too cold you can make a mini green house by putting a clear plastic storage tote upside down over the lettuce.
For the agapanthus tulip swap, you could plant the tulip bulbs in a similar pot and sink them in the empty holes. that would eliminate re-digging the holes.
A lot of plants seem to to be wasted, that would not suit my budget, I would transplant them to another spot not throw them out!2 Can't bear to see plants wasted. They need to be respected .
I feel like the cover photo for this video is very awkward and kind of inappropriate for gardening. This is not the half naked gardener. I know you are not but it’s just weird.
