Trillia Newbell, Blair Linne, and Rosaria Butterfield discuss what to do when you’re in a small group setting and someone says something inaccurate or unhelpful. Read: www.thegospelc...
This is so needed. So many people share "what I think" or "how I feel" in the small group setting. And it's definitely challenging when it's comes to keeping respect for the other person.
@6:15 Trillia: What do you do when there's push-back? Rosaria: I think that's OK. I've said my point, and it's not my birthday party🎈(😂)! The Lord will defend His Word in whatever way He will, and that's that! 🙌
Great video! I'm in need of boldness, discernment and love for God's truth! Also, let's soak our minds in the Word of God so that the Spirit can speak through us!
I have to agree that it is very important in any kind of planned small group setting that ground rules are laid to allow for respectful voicing of other views. As stated in the video, the type of group and degree of authority of the leader is important; so when the Bible is held as the highest authority it helps deflect and make things about the actual Word and not personal confrontation.
I am a man and I watched this. I've wondered what to do in this circumstance. My problem is that I go to church to learn the Bible not for a motivational speech. Motivational speeches do nothing to encourage my faith or witnessing capabilities when I work with Islam and Buddhists. Years ago when I needed self esteem and personal healing I went to therapy and a doctor, people who had sufficient clinical training, not a pastor. I'm not sure why so many pastor and ministers approach church motivational to get people out of poverty and depression, I didn't think that was their job? I am beginning to wonder if I should still go to church?
Not all churches are like that. In my denomination, the pastor goes through books of the bible section by section with the focus being on Christ. I hope you're able to find a good church!
Find a church that teaches verse by verse, chapter by chapter teacher. This forces the pastor/ teacher to teach from the whole council of God and not pick and choose topics, avoiding the hard ones.
Is it heretical? I don't care who's teaching. By the way this can occur anywhere, bible study, seminary, Sunday school, etc....wherever it occurs error cannot go forth.
One reason why I listen to these is the fact that people here are informally conversing about these things, not formally mandating. The main thing I needed to repent of was tuning someone out of my perception when they err.
affidon kévin It's unfortunate you had to comment on that. Next time I recommend you don't watch the video of you are that annoyed. It was a great discussion, really appreciated Rosaria's comments.
Can't i have an opinion ? And express it ? What kind of world conception do you have ? To recommend me not to watch a video, obviously i had to watch it to be annoyed, i loved the convo, was just a lil bit annoyed that's it
affidon kévin You definitely can have an opinion; however as Christians, we should submit all of our thoughts and opinions to Christ and His word. Col 4:6 There may be appropriate times to be critical of someone's behavior, I feel confident this was not one of them.
