I think this was one of you most informative videos to date. I can relate, for I have some professional software (Photoshop) like you and it comes down to time. Do I spend the extra time to learn the many cool features of the software I own or take the easier route and use something like Kittl/Canva to do the same things, but faster. Hearing that you too have the professional software, but use this other software to save time is a relief that I'm not along in these types of decisions. Thank you .......PS I felt others should see your video, so I copied the link and added it to a few Facebook groups. I hope this helps.
I think so too, the informative part,,, I really sat down for the script writing, making sure I don't miss out on anything... You're def not alone making these decisions... When we are working for ourselves, and working for the money that the business will make- time saved is crucial. And thanks, every share and like or comment help out
This video was super helpful and made up my mind for me. I was really wanting Kittl to be enough because what I like about it I REALLY like, but using it along with Canva Free I think is the ticket! Thank you, and subbed!
Kittl Pro is $10/month, right now, so you may have just talked me into it. Creative Fabrica is only $9/month, right now, I would rather have those two, and not have to worry about using an element, then, just go with Canva Free.
You're a Genius, girl...love listening to you! I really resonate with your personality. You seem to really be a Multitasker like me!! And this Digital design world fits me just right!❤
ok, you have me convinced, l'm asking Santa for the Kittl Pro subscription ! lol, thanks for answering so many questions l had ❤🔥❤🔥now hoping l can get my creative flow back on track, it's been bad lately
Well, entering contests could be an awesome thing to try and get that pro account :) And I'm crossing my fingers for your creative flow to come back...
I love both programs, but the fact that Kittl is more geared towards vintage, and I can use Photopea or Photoshop to warp text. I do agree, though, CF and Canva just have too many elements or graphics, and it is so overwhelming, but I don't just make vintage designs, so, that is the one reason I don't go with Kittl. I know I can bring in my own design elements, though. I think I may get CF, though, because it is only $9 after the first months, which is only $1. I am hoping to be able to get Kittl, eventually, though, because, yes, it is more geared towards POD. I am really disappointed in Canva, because if you're are paying, you shouldn't have to question whether you can use a design element or not. I wish they would separate those, make a category of elements that you are allowed to use, make another category that you have to ask to use, etc.
I feel like for them to make these categories would be "so hard"- cause people use Canva for so many different things... That's why a curated platform makes it easier to "think" of what you can or cannot do. But yeah, if you got other softwares to help you out that's amazing! Also, I wanted to say thanks LOL Your comment on Ryan's video of Repper made them contact me, we actually spoke that very same day, and I am issuing a video on them in the next few days after properly exploring the system :)
Thank you great video. I use both little and Canva for sublimation. Usually I have my own elements I uploaded to the canvas and sometimes add text. The ai background remover oknkittl and Viectorize gets used a lot. Finally photoshop is used to print and manage colors on an epson f570. I’m not sure I need Canva for what I do with printing but I’m going to explore the social Media creation features.
Mey great info on your video. Really helped me decide which platform to pay for. It sounds like Kittl is the way to go. Would not like to be worrying about license user terms on Canva if it's so complicated.
It;'s def been a breath of fresh air to have Kittl grow in this timing of Canva being less clear to use... plus the DPI control and text morphing- big game changers for me LOL
All good points. I wish there was one program that could do it all and all be allowed for commercial use. It's confusing to use four programs. I do love how easy it is on Canva to make seamless patterns out of your own uploaded elements though. And I used it to make a fanart book as a gift that we printed via an online service. it was easy for that. Also, I swear I'm seeing Kittl and Canva designs on Creative Fabrica.
Yeah, Canva's seamless patterns option is still better, but I have been emailing with kittl a bit on developing that as well, as it won;t be a hard feature to add, these guidelines that help with the patterns. (also, there's a video coming up later today about patterns, I think you'll like it LOL) If you do see them on CF- can you DM me?? I already found a design marketplace that people just bluntly sell the same graphics of canva, pissed me off...
I think Photoshop is still best and if you don't have the $$, Gimp is a decent alternative (if you know how to use design software). Canva is good for people that are not skilled in Adobe Suites. I think, though, that Canva does not always make the right size and people think they have a 300 dpi but it does not translate when they upload. I have seen distortion that I have had to fix for people. What you see is not always what you get. Hot tip: ALWAYS look on a rgb to cmyk conversion site because the conversion is not made in Canva. You can see how your actual saved graphics will look BEFORE you make a big mistake and send a design file to your chosen pod. I guarantee you will get one star and disgruntled buyers. As you said in one of the videos (I watched the other day), hard to come back from that. It is ok to get a few people that did not like your work (you cannot please everyone) but that should come after you have a fair amount of business. People can overlook one or two negatives out of dozens or more but not when it is one of your first sales. Always give your best cs but even go overboard to get those ratings with extra positive comments in your early days.
Ohhh I can't "hack it" with Gimp, feels too slow or weird, I do have CSP which resembles photoshop. and yes, these are amazing softwares with great options, just sometimes making things with Kittl or Canva is simply faster... and yeah, many people "fall" for it, thinking Canva gives out great DPI... also a lot of people selling printables don't really know what that is... I can count over 100 people who started selling printables on Etsy writing 300 DPI cause "everyone is writing it" and they have no idea what it means. and yeah, Canva can't make CMYK, they are built for web design... not printing. I feel like so many people just don't realize that LOL love this comment :)
@@MisterSolitude why hard? Need 10 inches in 250 DPI that’s 2500 pixels. Multiply the inches with the DPI if you can’t clearly see the DPI in your design tool.
@@MeyTribe Facts! You always do great videos. I was using the free version of Kittl; Now, I'm a Pro member as of today! I simply love the freedom of font.
Very useful and informative comparison - that's information I will use in the near future. I would lean towards paid Kittl transferring to free Canva. Unfortunately my designs aren't text heavy enough usually to warrant moving out of my drawing program and I end up doing the lettering by hand...some day that will change. How much would your opinion on Canva change if they made their licensing easy to decipher? I really think text manipulation and font selection is underrated but then I used to develop graphics features for business software in my former life (in which text engines featured strongly for several years). :) Thanks for another great video!
Hand lettering is brilliant ! I need to practice that more with procreate, what software are you using? I think that if canva comes out with an easier licence to understand- it would def make it easier to use them, however,- that also depends on what that licence is LOL I can still make tutorials with them, if I add my own graphic elements or use CF ones... But I guess I got sucked into kittl, I just started using them and couldn't stop, the distort text feature and the effects that are better suited for my style really won me over :) also- the DPI control ! And yeah, so many people don't "appreciate" these enough, using the same basic fonts, or spending zero time trying to find the best font for a project,.
@@MeyTribe I'm using Sketchbook Pro (the former autodesk free version) - so it's all oriented towards drawing with a pen/mouse. It only has only has basic text and a general morph/stretch function. I can get some decent effects from that and a contrasting background (think: two copies of the text, red text on black background [text slightly skewed out from behind]) - which I usually use if I don't hand letter. Unfortunately Sketchbook does not have "text along a path" so some of my designs I've had to bow to the limitations of the software rather than hand lettering or finishing up in another program (such as the Zazzle editor). FYI - I did a set of musical symbols and staves by hand recently and [I do small or curved lettering jobs individually - but hand lettering is a lot of work as you know!] Not sure how easy it is to find a nice looking treble clef, etc. but if you (or anybody else reading this) needs some musical symbols maybe I have something that could do the trick (it's not packaged up for consumption at this point but I'm sure I could figure it out.) I meant gratis, of course.
Good afternoon Teacher, is DPI important if I would like to start on Etsy? Normally what recommends, I am passionate about Art but I want to learn details, and aside from that I thank you so much for taking the time to respond, you are one in a Million
31:40 I had the same doubt about canva audios. Audios can't be modified either & more risky when it's in the pro. I'd stop using Canva audio (but I'll use canva free audio) Audios are risky as a whole. (I wish there was a platform with the option to modify audios.)
I used the audio feature only once, and ONLY cause that was the audio that was with the template I used (hence me thinking it's ok to actually use it, I mean, why would they have a RU-vid intro template that people can't use for a RU-vid intro???) Now I am using some basic ones from iMovie, I use freesound.org sometimes, and with the new channel that will have more music- artlist.io, already got the creator membership to cover using them for RU-vid.
Thanks for this video. I have been seeing Kittle videos from some other RU-vidrs that I watch and just avoided them because I already had Canva. I see now where I may be better served by Kittl. The lack of text distort in Canva is my big reason for shifting to Kittl. The trends demand that ability! I'm doing a monthly subscription right now, so I think I am going to cancel Canva and give Kittl a try before making the annual investment. I wish they did a pro version for free for a certain amount of time like Canva does.
They did a 3 month free subscription, this past spring, but I thought they did a month free, regularly, but I am not sure. I like them both, for different reasons, but I am only paying for Canva, at the moment. Actually, Kittl does have a free subscription, but you can only download like 5 or 10 designs on it, that is what I remember, anyway, from when I signed up for it.
@@MissMolly3377 They had a promo in the spring, and sometimes have a free month promo with RU-vidrs, ours on this channel ended a few weeks ago. The free option is for 10 design "spaces" but it's also limited with the size of the export. That's why I said that in order to get actionable results from them you'll need the pro membership. I can see why they want people to subscribe, it's a platform in the making, new features all the time, and they put a lot of work into it.
I am new to POD, I have been using Placeit, which is nice for mockups but not for creating designs. After watching the pro and con of Canva Pro and Kittl, I am going to go with Kittl. Thanks for the videos.
Hi mey, i have an idea for a tee shirt design, i have the image saved on canva but i dont have a clue what to do next, can you tell me a few steps how to get them online or what format to save my idea, watching you-every day, thanks nancy
I have been hearing so many different opinions on that matter, I honestly don't know- hence my issue with it. I recommend having a sit down and reading through their licencing, or even flat out contacting them and asking. I did that few weeks ago but didn't get a reply. will probably try again. But for now, it was just easier for me to "let it go" a bit when it comes to videos. If you can also afford kittl I recommend giving it a try, but don't wanna go into your wallet too much. There are still good things you can do with Canva, using basic/free elements, and fonts from CF for example. But yeah, it's a bit tricky. I will try to find time to go over their licence again...
Hi Mey, just watched this video and it was exactly what I was after. I am thinking of re-starting POD and had Canva before but am seeing a lot about Kittl so was wondering which to get. After watching your video will prob get Kittl Pro and free Canva. Thank you and best wishes, Wendy
I am happy using Gimp, and I also use Canva, mostly to make pins for Pinterest, but now I want to try Kittl for the text, where the other two are somewhat weak.
Hi Mey, I'm a new sub as a result of watching Kittl vids. This video answers many questions I had. With that said, can you show crossover application uses? For example, if I wanted to make an editable wedding invite for a customer. I can do that via canva using a shareable link. Can't really do that with kittl. However, can I create in kittl and export to canva for the same operation?
Hey Brian! You can share a private shareable link of your design with a client or customer. You can do this via the share feature up in the top left, and selecting "share a copy of this project." Hope that clears up the question here!
If you make a design on Kittl and share it to Canva- it won't truly be editable- as the elements from Kittl would be created as a photo, not a changeable element. You can share your creation on Kittl, same way i share mine on my profile: kittl.pxf.io/MeyTemplates However, you can't share and "hide" to only provide it to a client. the sharing is public.
@@Kittldesign That would make the file shared available for everyone and not just that paying client.. (maybe it's a feature you guys will have in the future?? LOL)
@@MeyTribe Not if you just share a copy of your project. I'm not suggesting to publish it to the community. You have the ability to just share a copy of your project with another individual via a personal link. :)
The bells and whistles of Canva are distracting. I'm thinking that for me, Kittl is a better platform. I enjoy inserting my elements into the vintage looking templates and font manipulation is the hardest part for me so the easier it is, the more fun I'll have. I can't be bothered with all the licensing stuff either. Also, my first sale of my "new work" was of a kittl based design and I don't think I would have been able to do it without the help of the template (ask me in a year, I hope to outgrow the need for templates and start designing my own).
Template work is still work, and it's great they have these templates to help beginners kick off their business! and a year from now??? naaaaa, I give you 6 months to create awesome designs that others will be using to help them get started LOL
I actually never used placeit for making designs, I thought it was too slow and limiting... Switching to Kittl will def feel like an upgrade for you if you've been designing with place it !
I'll never pay for canva pro, a lot of their "pro" elements are in the public domain, just need to take time to search for them. I pay kittl each month, because they have features none other are provided.
I've heard that as well ! I am using their Pro for the easy background removing ability, but other than that I'm mostly using Kittl myself (or procreate/CSP)
Yup, they do !! I covered their AI art generator along with 3 others in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4_A7FmtWInc.html sharing what you can actually do with their AI.
That depends on what that commercial purpose is... I mean, I did mention you can sell designs from Kittl as printable and print on demand... so which kind of use are you asking about?
They haven't, yet- even since this video was made they have added so many things to their platform, have made so many improvements, and keep on adding more !
