Cheers mate, just raised the feed size for our two carpets (Murray-Darling and Jungle) based on your advice and they both smashed it. I knew they needed to go up but the options are limited here in regional SA, we found a pack of 'sub adult' rats, aquarium industries is the brand. They're bang on perfect size I reckon, I had my doubts with our Murray-Darling but she may as well have eaten it before I opened the door. I gave them chickens the last two feeds because the shop had nothing and they went down well but phew, a bit smelly. Having said that our dog is the same when we change proteins. Anyway, this was extremely helpful, thanks.
Great video mate again that helps heaps thankyou my BHP is on large but is about the same size as its belly so was gonna go up but I think it’s jumbo after that don’t want it to be to big like you said what would you suggest
There is an XL rat in between the large and the jumbo rats. Once my snakes have out grown the size rodent they are on, I give them 3-4 extra feeds on that size before I increase the rodent size. It give them a bit extra time and body size to deal with the next size increment.
Hi: just come across the channel. Discussing rodent size and amount. Do you also feed by snakes weight to % ratio per meal. I usually feed a meal about 7 to 15% of body weight of the snake. I feed a lower % in the winter months, and keep a lower percentage for the arboreal species. Is this also different for terrestrial vs arboreal species. I know for my ATB the meals should not be as large, Not much information on feeding by weight of snake, and the different species. Thank you.
I got my cornsnake hes about 1 yro old got no problem feeding since then , but 2 weeks before i feed him,and after 3 days he vomited it 😞 i feed him that time after he shed skin i got scared nervous then i left him for another 2 weeks i feed him again its been 2 days im still scared 😱 nervous hopefully everythings be back to normal
@@CookiesCritters no mate I usually leave him 3 days after he feed since i got him then hold him, this is my first snake so i really need to be sure he digest good his meal before handling
@@Zik12332 it sounds like you have done all the right things. 👍 The 4 main reasons for regurgitation are: * Being handled after eating * incorrect temperatures * dehydration * incorrect food size. Illness such as parasites can definitely affect their digestion. If she regurgitates again I would definitely recommend a visit to the vet.
@@CookiesCritters food size and temp humidity is good hes still small currently on 10 Gtank im thinking maybe i scared him thats why I accidentally close my door so loud that time when i came back he regurgitate
