I have personally played with an arrow skin for 4 years now, I can definitely say that arrows do not immitate circles. The fact why the receptors point at any which direction is sensible because it immitates the receptors from games like PIU, DDR, ITG and so on. I do agree they are weak on LNs but they are actually decently easy to read with an arrow skin, you just have to get used to them a lil bit.
Thats fair enough, i mostly say its immatating as a joke hahaha but imo i do personally just not see much of a difference, probably because i have little to no experience with any other vsrgs
I'm new to mania and i can play with circles and arrow skins, but bar skins are so hard for me to read like i miss a lot for me i can only play bars in 3d games for some reason, my favorite skin type are the "DDR arrow style" ones, idk i feel it's even easier to read that circles imo, but in reality there isn't "The best mania skin" the biggest proof is that there is people hitting top plays with default mania bars (not lazer) ones 😭😭, great video!
Im glad you enjoyed! Yeah ive seen some crazyyy plays with the worst skins imaginable, ranging from deafult all the way to whatsapp skin lol, honestly skinning is a wonderful thing because it really allows you to find what makes YOU the most comftable, because everyone is different :D
I find arrows easier to read than circles because it feels like the notes are less clumped together (less area for the thinner ones) I use rounded LN tails (I'm not used to the pointy one) and it just feels like muscle memory instead of actually aligning the release with the receptor
Fair enough, notes being clumped together was actually my biggest issue when switching from bar ln to circle ln because i just cant read the rounded tails, it hurts my eyes haha so now i use slight percy to change the circle tails into a bar XD
as a vsrg player (former etterna, now maining quaver and sometimes o!mania) i started out with bar skins as well, then by the time i knew etterna i slowly transitioned to a circle skin and by the hand of the accuracy gods did my acc and consistency improved. circle skins are the only skins where i can read dense jumpstream and handstream patterns. i tried going back to bar skins and even trying out arrow skins but i literally cannot process the hs and js patterns (idk maybe i just need to get used to it). maybe some people can relate but that's it for me. i prefer my circles to be on the larger side (633 pink skin for o!mania) and then lower my scroll speed to compensate for the sheer amount of space the notes take.
Im glad you found what works for you! I might try out slightly bigger circles and a lower scroll speed sometime, but yeah i also cant read bar anymore haha
@@Rageinater also note that in quaver (cause it's easier editing skins because of the ini file being more feature rich than o!m) i usually play with 1.) columnsize (basically circle size) and 2.) receptor position. on smaller circles i tend to put the receptors higher and vice versa. an example would be the accuracy skin from quaver. it's default receptor position was too high for me so i lowered it a bit and i can acc perfectly now. it really is a matter of experimentation to find the "best skin". to reiterate, to me, circle skins are the most comfortable. next up are arrow skins (but i have a hard time reading dense js and hs) and finally bar skins (kinda ironic since i started out playing with bar skins and now i perform the worst with it)
This is such a great video. Most people just say that mania skins just depend on the player and its all by preference, but this video goes so much in depth into the topic and its honestly super refreshing
as someone who learned with circles (began with thinner circles and moved to fatter circles) ive found that with circles at least, the faster you can comfortably set your scroll speed, the easier it is to read denser patterns becayse the notes are further apart. ive also found that having a fatter skin makes the notes appear to go slower at the same speed which means i can up the scroll speed and read denser patters. additionally making the screen resolution smaller does the same thing and ive gone from 27 scroll speed to 34 and it feels the same. sorry for the paragraph but i felt it would be nice to have some options from players that come from other playstyles.
Interesting! I mean yeah that makes sense, faster scroll speed would spread patterns out a bit, although would this not have a negative impact on your consistency? I find it extremely hard to play high scroll speed and atm I use 28 or 29 scroll speed for bar and circle iirc
I would talk about 7k but I purposely avoid it because I don't have much knowledge about it, because I just don't enjoy 7k and never really want to get into it
"harder to read" for circle skin is just skill issue, lots of people using circle skins nowadays and it's just really readable. Though you might be accustomed to bars skins so circles overall are hard to read -_-
My point isnt that cricles are factually harder to read. The circle note is wider than a bar note, meaning if you are used to bars cirlce WILL be harder for you to read. It isnt a skill issue at all and is just an adjustment issue, that you learn to overcome with time and experience
I went from 28 to 31 scroll speed in one day and set my top play when i made my circles larger and focused on the middle instead of the bottom of the screen
@@JotaroKujoCrus bro, best skill boost is just take a long ass break and then come back to the game or play other similar 4k-7k vsrg games and then come back to mania easy skill boost (for me atleast) or properly warm up on a specific skill set like jacks or streams and then get skill boosted when playin harder songs of that specific skillset cause u warmed up for it ig or find the perfect skin/note speed that ur comfortable with/ur preference or just play a shit ton of mania you'll eventually get a boost on a certain day
Best way to get a skill boost is to stop trying to force one imo, if you just enjoy the game and take breaks when you need, you'll have a lot more skillboosts, or at least that's what works for me
Amazing, crazy how diverse the game can be and how everyone reads patterns differently. Its awesome to see so many differenty types of skins and players, makes the game feel much more alive :D
I’ve been playing for around two weeks and I can get an A on most two stars and B or C on 3 stars any tips on how to improve faster I’m already putting 2-4 hours a day btw i’m using bars skins probably going to switch to circle or diamond later on also in the beginning, it was really frustrating for me because I could never do hard maps just easy ones that where really slow but when I was going into the second week, it started to become way more fun and exciting to get a new scores so I’m kind of addicted now every day after school I just play OSU lol
I'm glad you're having fun XD honestly at your level that improvement rate is completely fine so I wouldn't worry about going faster, just enjoy grinding and getting better because the better you get the harder it is to improve!
