Hey MC and fellow Knights... Just wanted to pop in and share that I finally did it!!!... (Actually my lovely wife did)... I finally ordered my Holy Grail knife the Civivi Vision FG Damascus!!... Now I realize that a $100 knife isn't a big deal to most but to me!!! You see, I had a medical emergency on April 23rd and actually died for a few minutes (you can't kill weeds or a cockroach!! 😂) And I still haven't been able to go back to work... So I'm happier than a pig in sh¡t right now!!... Just wanted to tell someone that would get it!!... Thanks for letting me share this and thank you MC for even giving us knife addicts a place to get our fix and see some amazing knives!!... Happy Holidays everyone!!
Glad you are feeling better, brother I had a health scare in October here it is after Thanksgiving an Im still recovering. Gonna order on of my Grail knives soon, a heretic cleric 2
From another man who works all the time, it sounds like you need a long vacation brother. Buy all the knives you have wanted man, don’t die early on us!❤
Hey man Holy grail knives are all relative. If it makes you happy is all that counts and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Hope the recovery continues to go well brother
As a geologist, I feel it is my duty to tell MC that the CJRB Mica is pronounced MY-kah, not ME-kah. Micas are phylosilicate minerals that form layers of thin, papery sheets. They are often used to create sparkles in cosmetics and food.
That Civivi Damascus IS a real san mai. I have it on the Vision FG. It's gorgeous in person ... until you actually cut something with it. Then it scratches really easily and the "etch" wears off. This happened after cutting up a couple of cardboard boxes. No staples or anything -- just cardboard and tape, so buyer beware.
Just pre-ordered a Manix 2XL in Cruwear and I got a smoking deal on a standard black Manix 2. but I _CANNOT WAIT_ for the Bodacious (although I'll be buying it in a different steel then S30V when they eventually start doing different runs). The Bodacious is a good looking, perfectly shaped knife IMO. I just wish that Spyderco would start making their compression-lock knives BUTTON ACTUATED like the RSKAOS and the BladesWeLove Ultras.
I pre-ordered a Cruwear Manix 2XL and a Bodacious... Im REALLY hoping they do a bunch of sprint-runs of the Bodacious cause from the looks of it thats a perfect design for me and I'd LOVE to have it in M4 and Cruwear for starters. I live/work/hunt in the wet PNW and I just dont care about "corrosion resistance" and think s lot of he discussion is academic from people who will NEVER use their knives in a way or setting where its that big a concern. Ive carried 1095 knives from ESEE and others into the backcountry here in OR/WA/ID/MT/WY for decades and never had a knife rust to any serious degree nor do I worry about all my hand/bag tools that this time of the year are often wet and dirty at the end of the day. WD40 and CLP do wonders for tools knives, broadheads and firearms.
Everyone can relate to a knife they bought with failed expectations from user or manufacturer error, so I don't discount the 1-star review. The reviewer wasn't clearly explaining himself - so you never know. Several years ago, my wife bought me a Yojimbo from Spyderco''s website, which arrived just before we moved. I literally opened it in the moving truck and didn't get to play with it until we stopped for the night. The edge and tip crumbled off the first time I used it. The knife's edge looked like a sine wave, and over a half inch of the tip had crumbled off with the edge. After we got to our new house and unpacked, I contacted Spyderco. They said to send it in with its original packaging, but the box was lost from a week on the road... so they wouldn't accept it. I got accused of abusing the knife, but anyone who ever worked with steel could tell there was a heat treat issue with the whole blade, and the edge had been burned up from machine sharpening done wrong.
Can not wait for that Crucarta Manix 2. And really wish they'd do a G10 Manix 2 in MagnaCut. Have an awesome set of scales from Blades We Love, and would really live to wrap them around a MagnaCut blade but need G10 guts to do it. Then I'll have Manix's in S30V, Rex45, Spy27, Cruwear, and Magnacut.
I've put myself on 3 wait-lists for that manix 2 lw salt. I've got the native 5 lw salt and gotta say Spyderco is just top notch with heat treats. Good point about spy27. Spyderco should take a hint from microtech and make it their base steel.
Title caught my eye. "PM 2 salt" I am thinking of getting my first PM 2. If you had to choose between cruwear/micarta and Magnacut salt which would you recommend ?
Henderer's own website also still has some XM-18.5s, 5 colors as well, as of 8pm Central on Friday the 25th. I can't believe they're just sitting there this long lol. Of course they're the basic ones but still, it's a Henderer, multiple in fact, in stock multiple places for multiple days.
Today 11/25/2023 Midway USA has good deals on some fixed blades. I picked up a Sog pilar blacked out fixed blade. It's s35vn steel and made in America for $99.
I shop and don’t buy all the time. I love it. Window knife shopping. Every once in a while I pull the trigger. Like today I ordered the magnacut para 3. Aaaahhhhi’m so excited.
Probably didn't deploy the knife, just the locking bar disengaged form the impact and the blade must have just come "derailed". Anyhow, i can see that happening. And be it a brick floor or propably just your bog standard tile floor.
@@zman8340 One in the white and the other blacked out? I didn't manage to talk myself into getting both, so I stuck with the satin finish. The handlescales have the parts I like from the Caribbean without looking like a bee
@@QuietWaffles yeah the all black and the black and yellow. The pm 2 is pretty much my fav EDC and I basically live in saltwater …. So I went for both mainly as a back up.
It is absolutely impossible for what that one-star reviewer said happened, to happen. Even if he threw it at his brick shower floor (LOL) as hard as he could and the lock plate holding the blade in the closed position moved out of position the knife is still not under tension. It takes a lot of pressure to open a high quality OTF and you aren't going to produce it by throwing it, let alone gently taking off your pants. That dude dropped it while playing with it over his deep south brick shower floor and broke the tip, or something like that, now he wants an alibi because he wants his warranty to cover it.
I trust you metal complex. Just ordered the civivi vision fg super lock. It’s not a knife I cared for at all or even knew about but if you say its that good I’ve got to try it
The new damascus from civivi DOES have a core, not sure what it is, but it is there. I love it. Also, the kitefins you saw are button lock exclusive versions. have one myself, blade is light so not always drop shut, but haven't oiled it yet
Just a question for the knife community. I have a pm2 with black zirconium scales. What is a safe product to clean the scales with? I use a microfiber cloth but it doesnt seem to give it the proper clean it needs. Thanks for any advice.
@@brettallen4217 I saw that! I have the ti version, but wouldnt argue with the steel upgrade, also never owned anything with a micarta handle, so i dunno!
@@kristophersprague2642 I would say if you have the money to spare go for it, they have great quality micarta and worst case you could blade swap between the two
The knives aren’t necessarily better, but for someone from the USA, it’s nice to know your money is supporting American workers. If you’re from another country, it may not be a factor.
It 100% has a 10CR core (factually is a San Mai) and it's absolutely not the basic pattern Damascus that we usually see on model variants throughout the Civivi line. The etch kind of wears a little easier during use than I had hoped for, but besides that critique, I can confirm the steel does in fact have a core and jacket. MagnaCut is the new hotness and for good reason! That said, it wasn’t that long ago when LC200N was basically MagnaCut before the actual MagnaCut! It was essentially 100% corrosion resistant with toughness similar to 3V and easy to sharpen. However, it lacks in edge retention compared to MC and is similar to 14C28N in that regard. MagnaCut is similar to CPM-4V & CruWear in terms of toughness (less than 3V), right behind Vanax/LC200N in corrosion resistance, edge retention similar to M4 & CruWear (depending on HRC), and middle of the road to sharpen. All this makes MC a lot more versatile with basically 0 compromise in every category. Personally, I still view LC200N as a premium knife steel. Many people consider it a mid - high end steel now but, I feel that’s a little misleading considering it’s potential + price. It’s actually in the same price bracket as M390, 20CV, 3V, etc. I find it’s perfect for custom/mid-tech fixed blades.
Hey Complex. Review the reviews of knives. Very good idea lol. Also I do enjoy your thoughts on different knives. For me it’s entertaining and I learn new things.Thx MC. See you next time.
Dude, I love making fun of stupid reviews people make with my kids. You need to change your voice to what you think the reviewer sounds like and read them out loud… (when in doubt just use a nasally voice).😂 Thanks for the great content and entertainment MC!
Im SO with Complex. Why invest in SPY27. To me, by rights Canis should have been dropped with button compression lock and SPY27. Especially in light that they were losing exclusivity of compression lock and it was only put one ONE model!
MC, i hope you know when i saw this i got excited at first and thought spyderco had sent you physical models of their new stuff and that meant they’re coming soon. i was wrong
