@@prophecy9521 from Illinois gotta hella relatives that live the city oit soith and out west i grew 35 minutes from the chi tf nobody even calls it that
Of course, talent isn't enough. You need the right personality, the right team behind you, a label that will help your career, hits, and not be an azzhole. Budden only had talent.
As a fan of his podcast since day 1, paying attention to him since the early Slaughterhouse days... I was on his side always but theres been a pattern that I cannot ignore. Joe is toxic and does not see his wrong doing. If you have fires in every situation you are in you have to look at yourself.
Fam i feel the exact same way, i really rootin for him in this last situation too but seeing how he did his friends was too much, that shit was mad lame
Everyone who says self sabotage really don't understand the music industry or history. Jay z flipped def jam and his second album was shelved, this became the ring tone Era, or young money. This Era killed g unit, method man, almost all of NY. You were either young money or a plant. Then the next transition was to trap. There wasn't another successful lyricist until Kendrick Cole.
True. From like 05' to 09' the music industry was in a period where Soulja Boy and rappers like him were super successful and then the 2010's change everything with upcoming rappers like Nipsey, Meek Mill, Mac Miller etc. I remember being in middle school when that transition happened. Good ol' times.
I loved Joey's mood music series.. and his dj clue desert storm mixtapes with Fab, Stack bundles,Paul Cain and Ransom. I had hoped his stint with slaughterhouse was gonna be legendary.. we got good music but not the commercial success he shouldve had
That was the real slaughterhohse in hindsight.. just playing some old desert storm joints amd if clue had been a better exec that situation could turned out different. Prob stack and chinx would still be here too. But i digress. Joey still nice!
@@NahshonWebb the last joe budden battle I saw was when he was against Hitman holla i think. but joey lost that one. his flex freestyles are the truth tho
Just bumped into this channel 10 minutes ago. After enjoying this 1st video checked your list. Subbed & Can't wait to go through it. Do Keith Murray too please. He's a perfect case for the stunted series. PS get a Twitter account.
Joe is in my Top 15. His music got me through a lot of dark days in my teens and I can’t ever short change him for that. When you talk about raw emotion and honesty in rap, his name is up there with the ‘Pac’s, Scarface’s, and even Drake to an extent. Nothing was off limits for Joe, and if you were going through it, it felt incredible to know a rapper with all these baddies around him was actually struggling with the same shit you were.
Its amazing that he managed to sandbag his own career. He was talented and even as a pill popper had great work ethic. But in that industry you work ethic wasn't enough back then. You also had to have business etiquette. Someone should have given Joe the 48 Laws of Power and told him to soak the game up.
Before I watch I will say I was a big Joe budden fan since he dropped Pump it up in what seemed like 2003 . I listened to everything, he would rip up beats on some mixtape shit and still had some good songs musically that expressed his emotions. Eventually his character and some incidents seemed to overpower his music and he himself seemed to take more of a "vlog" type of career after. Also his second album "The Growth" never dropping according to plan was kind of hindering but he still dropped mood music tapes and the music was good. He is a great rapper but he be wyling lol which is an entertainment factor in itself which he was able to capitalize on and keep his name very relevant to this day
What a great channel concept! Just found your videos and I have been binging. You are a good narrator. Joe is talented but I think his ego got in the way of a lot of his success but I also think his career happened exactly as it should have as he is brilliant at podcasting despite the issues JBP is having currently.
Joe has a terrible ear for beats. He’s good at rapping but that’s it. He couldn’t pick good beats or make a good chorus and that was his main downfall musically
Mannn, I can’t tell you how hyped I was back in 2002 after hearing his mixtapes for this dude to blow up! I Always wondered what went wrong, thanks for this one bro👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾
Aye bro.. U think paul cain was stunted.. If im not mistaken..he was wit fab and joe b street dreamin...if so ... Could u do a vid on him? Either way great vids on both channels!!!
Don't even need to watch the video to know what stunted Joe's growth. Joe has alienated himself from almost everyone he's been in contact with, over the years. Ransom, Wu-Tang, On Top Music, G Unit (Game, mostly), Desert Storm, Slaughterhouse, Eminem, Rory and Mal, his labels, etc. The list goes on and on. He's also had many many romantic relationships too that have ended terribly. This man's mouth constantly gets him in trouble. He's EXTREMELY TALENTED THOUGH, don't get it twisted. His Mood Muzik series is one of my favorites, and he's in my top-something, for sure.
Im not jay z fan but what artist did he shelve? Cause rhianna blew up when he became president. Jeezy blew up when he became president. So because Joe couldn’t capitalize off his 1 hit. Thats jay fault?
@@jameshamilton5947 i can and once again. You didn’t answer the question which further proves thats just a bullshit excuse for y budden’s music to go the way he wanted it too. Once again. Buddy’s pen game was ridiculous. But hes the reason his career went to shit and he proves it by being a hater and bitter.
Mannnnn Earl Sweatshirt is one of my favorite rappers!!! Tyler The Creator DID NOT lie when he said “he is the secret weapon of Odd Future.” That man’s bars, delivery, and flow is second to none!!!! I truly believe if he didn’t spend that time in that boarding school in Africa when OF was blowing up he would not be where he is now.. I’m predicting that if he does that video, that would undoubtedly be stunt number one!!! Doris is such an amazing album!!!
The streets stopped messing with Joe when he was getting beat up behind his mouth Raekwon rocked him and had him bleeding apologizing...he got his cousin snuffed by Ransom also behind his mouth both times he came out looking soft his street cred disappeared instantly...
I'm surprised you didn't mention that random beef with The Game on a mixtape though, the one on the beef series. Shit was weird how it started with them two lol.
The success of his podcast, I feel, is more attributed to his early presence on social media. Whether Joe saw the vision of what it would become or just narcissistic, Joe had a huge following online from him and Tahiry putting out content. That’s a big part of what kept Joe relevant. Most people didn’t even know he rapped which is insane, but true.
I never liked him as a person (not that I know him or anything) but when it came to rappers using big ass intricate words to sound hard, his made the most sense to me, Like I like Royce the 5’9 but sometimes that fool just say shit because it rhymed..like in “loud noises” wtf is royces verse Reminds me of that one RU-vidr who has those “rappers using big words” videos
Joe in my top #10 all day.. Eminem used those guys except Royce TBH Joe was right but he got classics mood music 2,3,4,4.5 Escape route Halfway House & Rage and the Machine all Classic albums IMO
Him being bitter over his career is what stunted his growth.if 2 hip hop heavyweights such as jay an em didn’t want to deal with him. Its him. Buddy is Great Mc. His pen game is nasty. But hes the reason his career was the way it way based of these standards.
I used to LOVE Joey and he was definitely in my top 5 at the time! But eventually his ego got in the way and I couldn't stand him after a while. Padded Room is my favorite album of his And his Cypher on BET was the stuff of legends!
Everyone reading this needs to listen to "Who killed Hip-Hop" .... Joey murdered that Marvin Gaye sample straight dropping bars and facts... one of the greatest songs Hip-Hop has ever seen 💯
