Gavaskar was the person who predicted Pakistan's world Champion in '92 even when Pakistan was very near to exit and then he predicted Imran Khan's Prime minister in 2012, even when Imran Khan's PTI had no seat in National Assembly.
Yes. And on tours, they would be given same room. Sunil gawaskar tells his memoirs of sharing room with IK and noticing IK awaking for tahajjad prayer in late midnight.
Very few people know that it was Gavaskar who predicted that Pakistan would win world cup ( 1992 ) and his second prediction that Imaran Khan could be the Prime Minister of Pakistan, come true. Pakistanis must be thankful to Gavaskar.
I still remember when pakistan lost all initial matches and great sunny was still his view that pakistan is favourite I made laugh at him my brother slipped me that you know who is he
It was Sunny Gavaskar who predicted that Sachin would one day end up scoring 15000 test runs and 40 odd test centuries when Sachin scored 114 at Perth against Aus in 1992 at just 18 yrs of age..
He did not predict a beggar to be a pm.. he predicted an already popular person to be a pm in near future.. also because he might have shared his interest of joining politics with him
Sunil Gavasker my most favourite cricketer, a persson endowed with extreordinary n immense patience naturally. May God elongate ur life span longer n longer to shower cricket world with ur excellent experience. love u a lot.
Cut to 2018...Imran Khan is Prime Minister of Pakistan...What a journey he had...And how accurate & confident was Gavaskar of Imran becoming PM in recent future..
Pakistan will have to be lucky to have a PM like Imran Khan. Think about the current and past PMs of Pakistan, don't you seriously think it is a good upgrade ? what an inspirational leader, the question is, does Pakistan deserve Imran ? let us see how you guys vote in the next election. A stable and prosperous Pakistan will be good for all its neighbors, the focus will be inwards on developing their own economy, providing security and improving the standard of living of its people.
Seriously, Imran Khan would make a great national leader, because even at the height of his power as the Pakistan cricket team's captain, he eschewed personal records and glory in favour of the team. He would do the same as a PM. A lot of people point to his world-cup-winning speech as a sign of selfishness, but remember, he was a man who had retired from the game, and had then been called back by his PM to achieve the seemingly impossible task of winning the world cup. And he did it. At that moment, with the impossible achieved and all those emotions raging within him, he remembered his dead mother. Which decent man wouldn't? Imran for PM.
A politically stable pakistan (or for that matter) is in the best interest of India as well. With the modern outlook vision Imran khan carried, he would have been a welcome change to the country that has been falling apart. Unfortunately that thief nawaz sharief (how ironical is his last name) is back.. Sorry pakistan, we feel for you.
In 1995( could be 1996 too..I don't remember exactly) told Imran Khan would be prime minister of Pakistan in future. I think he was getting into politics or started a party at that time. My friends hearing this laughed at me...lol I am glad he did. But I also know it is not good for India. Fortunately he is not the same imran of 80s...lol Strangely, I also thought in 1992 when Pakistan was on the brink of defeat or exit I thought Pak would come back strongly to win the cup. I think I thought this before Pak match against England. Imran Khan was a strong, inspiring, nationalistic and outstanding personality and a good leader then. He was not religious too.
At one point I wanted him to be PM of Pakistan but he never criticized the Pakistani Taliban by name for murdering over 140 kids. He just criticized the act but never called them out by name even after they claimed the dastardly attack.
