Hey there, it's time for a deep dive into geopolitics and strategic thinking with me, Dylan Jovine. Today, I want to shed some light on the ongoing situation in Ukraine and why it's more than just a regional conflict - it's a chess move with global implications. 🌍
The key here isn't about Ukraine winning outright; it's about bleeding Russia strategically. By keeping Russia occupied in Ukraine, we effectively turn it into Russia's Vietnam, diverting its attention and resources away from other global ambitions.
You see, the West has always been wary of a Russia-China alliance, given their combined manpower and military might. So, historically, we've aimed to keep them divided. However, recent years have seen a resurgence of their military alliance, putting pressure on us and our allies worldwide.
Enter Ukraine - a crucial piece in this geopolitical puzzle. By supporting Ukraine, we not only keep Russia tied up but also maintain a strategic foothold in the region. It's a strategy as old as warfare itself - keep your opponent busy while you make your moves elsewhere.
Now, some may question the cost of supporting Ukraine and engaging in what seems like "forever wars." But let me break it down for you: yes, it costs money, but the benefits far outweigh the expenses.
Consider this: companies like Apple thrive in European markets, generating trillions in revenue. Our security architecture, provided through alliances like NATO, ensures access to these lucrative markets by keeping them safe from aggression. In return, we're able to muscle out competitors like Huawei, securing our economic interests and boosting our own prosperity.
So, when someone asks, "Can we afford it?" - the answer is a resounding yes. The returns on our investments in global security far exceed the costs, both economically and strategically. NATO isn't just a military alliance; it's a cornerstone of our prosperity and security.
As we navigate these complex global dynamics, let's not forget the invaluable role played by our allies and the importance of maintaining strong, strategic partnerships. Together, we're not just securing peace - we're securing our future.

As always, very insightful. It's something none of us ever thinks of, including me. Thanks for reminding me!

You are forgetting a very important aspect of the NATO alliance agreement; The obligation of EVERY member state to provide a minimum of 2% of their GDP. Many states are far away from contributing their share. In fact, the US have carried 2/3 of the NATO budget for years. Is that fair? Europe have to defend their own borders, it is not the responsibility of the US.We have to spend a lot more to defend our own.And the myth that China will take over the interests of NATO I consider contradiction and myth. They are not our friends, but a foe.China has for years been in a "secret" war with the west. Not with missiles and rockets, but with their use of the internet and infuence of the young and voting at elections, bribes to the US establishment and policymakers, transfer of biological weapons, shipments of lethal drugs, intelligence activities and financial acrobatics. Still, the US can not and should not be the worlds police.

Excellent point! I couldn't agree more: everyone has to pay their fair share! It's absurd for us to bear that burden alone! I also agree that we can't be the world's policeman. We have to define our critical interests CLEARLY - and leave everything else alone!
