the moment the portrait of Madeleine appeared I started crying. Seeing yourself brought to the forefront in this way is genuinely therapeutic. This is beautiful. Thank you for this.
This portrait isn't as well known as the Mona Lisa (in the sense that many people don't know its name or who painted it) but it's far from being a hidden figure, as suggested in the video. At least in France, it isn't. It's been regularly used as book cover art by big publishing houses for various paperback books over the past forty years at least.
The crazy thing with Beyonce is like she is highly visible and people know of her work but her work doesn't seem to be critically appreciated for its at the same time. She has such a rich, exquisite videography. And apparently is very much into art (I remember reading that some years ago).
Well researched video. Those comparisons of the Black experience vs European art is interesting and highlights that all these imagery shown in the video had a deeper meaning than most could have realised
Yes! I've been thinking about multiple artists for this series and Beyonce was one of the first names to come to mind because her videos' aesthetic is very sophisticated.
I tried to be a fan during the writings on the wall era and after what happened to Latvia and Latoya, she's rubbed me the wrong way. Never liked her husband. And together they formed a deceptican. Its painfully obvious at this point but folks are blinded by the bling bling
This is brilliant. 98% of this video went over my head. I had noticed that the switch up in energy occurred in front of the Egyptian statue. Almost symbolizing they were free to be themselves in that space bc it was built by African people
@@hoodboyzAtl according to isrealite folklore. the “Jews” who built them were born in Africa correct? Bc the tribe had been lost right? Making those later generations of Egyptians African Jews🤷🏽♀️

My respect for the Carters have really increased after hearing the meaning of such a beautiful & entertaining piece of art. So interesting I will pay much closer attention next time I view this video.
That outfit with the MCM outfit styled by Misa Helton in honor of Dapper Don has a very deep history. I think if u added that into the conversation it would’ve been nice. This was an amazing video. Thank you.
*misa hylton* the legendary stylist who is also Justin Combs’ mother. She pays tribute to Dapper Don who made clothing for the rich and famous of the 70’s thru 90’s before he was shut down after mike Tyson had a fight in Dons store. The clothing he had created was taken away… but he eventually gains it all plus more and is recognized by fashion houses in France and gets his own space at fashion week. I adored this video I thank u. I keep learning so much about the art relating to us. I’m so proud.

@@bankm4856 ? You mean them getting put out the group etc? Which Mathew had EVERYTHING to do with since he was the manager and to this day owns destiny’s child and Beyoncé had nothing to do with. Both Latavia and Letoya are still friends with Bey and went to her most recent tour soo…..
Wow that was awesome. Loved it. It's hard enough to analyze it on your own when you are just bouncing to it so hard, but you could feel it had depth and was well researched. And some of the images were so hauntingly beautiful and striking. For me it was the line of Black women dancing in front of Le sacre de Napoléon. Just such a fascinating sequence. But bringing your knowledge and historical facts to it really helped me see deeper into it, and gain some more appreciation. The whole essay was so, so enlightening. Merci
Big appreciation for translating the artistic, cultural activism done in this video and making it even more accessible. I love video essays and I think yours takes it onto a whole new level of importance when global, systemic issues are being discussed. Thank you for your important work, much love xx
I am amazed by this very clear, well explained, thoughtful analysis of the Apeshit clip. I've seen some of thz symbols but you digged deep to show us all the signs! And that's just part 1! It is really a brillant job! I love it and I'm also emotional when I realised how through music and other art forms people can convey really strongs messages. Also, is French your native language? I think I can hear an accent but I'm not sure!
All I can say is "holy shit, man!" I have always loved this video, but your thorough analysis of the symbolism present in the video, only deepen my appreciation. Bravo!
I LOVED THIS! Thank you for bringing an in-depth analysis to the artistic layers and cultural depths The Caters made in this Revolutionary Video! #WellDone👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Amazing work🔥 This also shows that to be successful Black Capitalists one doesn't have to drag down their culture and demean each other to be successful.
Wow, this analysis is beautiful. I picked up on some symbolism when watching the music video, but I could never put it into words as well as you did. Thank you!
I started to cry when this portrait came,.where all these people are in the ocean, and there is that one black man helping at the top, art can be painfully beautiful. Very intelligent explaining of this musicvideo.( Btw. Sorry for my english, Im struggeling to find the right words, Im working on it, everyday) Thankyou very much. This was like a, I felt allmost like I was in different place when listening this, I felt I was in a different place, different time ,with many people, like in a dream. You really described this and captured the atmosphere , this was an experience! Im definately going to order this channel. Art is food for the soul and mind.
Wow. What awesome research and delivery of your interpretation of their art within the video. I'm sure Jay and Beyonce would be very well pleased and impressed. Great job!
This is so amazing. I've always wanted to dive deeper in this song because I've felt there has been a deeper meaning and I was somewhat close but I love how thorough you were and pointing out all of these amazing nuances and messages. I think Beyoncé and Jay-Z are amazing artists, individually and together. They both have such depth and amazing artistry that I think a lot of people overlook. And their art gets so better over time. Thank you for such an enlightening and amazing video. Great work!! And it's made me fall in love with them both as artists so much more
I’ve truly gained a great appreciation for this song that I mocked for so long but mostly, the articulated message through the video, so profound thank you so much for explaining this in such great detail
Franchement, MERCI! (A bitch been waiting for this!!!)
This was really good! It was a lot to indulge and take in, but it’s very interesting how you correlated the Apesh*t video with modern and Western art. I may have to watch this video the second time haha. Excited for this new series and other artists videos you will be discussing! Beyoncé always has excellent theatrics and aesthetics to her videos.
This was wonderful!!!! When this dropped I actually taught my daughters what this all meant, I just love Bey even more since she started owning herself & putting out truth within the industry. Though I’m not blind to what goes on behind scenes!!!
I have tears! 🥲 Thank you for this! We! And our Ancestors made it! We survived to tell the story and correct history! Black Power , Black people, Black Enterprise!!! 🔥💎💕 This is so powerful! You really did an amazing break down!!
Thank you for this knowledge, this is by far the best researched video done on a rap video, and also bringing black history to the forefront “ struggle-slavery, betrayal, hope and most of all triumph ” thank you for the very educating video
Thank you so much for making this video. I guess we can all tell that you put so much work and research into it. I don’t think people really appreciated enough, and talked enough about this masterpiece. As an African, it meant so much to me. I still have to deal with the outcomes of colonialism every day of my life, but, seeing Beyoncé dance in front of the Napoleon painting, it’s a win to all of us.
Just discovered this channel. You’re gonna be huge by the end of this year, trust me. The quality of ur analysis is excellent!!!! Can’t wait for more of your videos!! (In the meantime, I’ll just binge the rest of your videos 😉)
Thank you for this breakdown as I had no idea of the significance of these pictures. I understood there was symbolism but not in depth at all! This was great!
Thank you so much for this well researched and thought-provoking analysis. I'm so tired of the conspiracy lunatics and their willful stupidity it's exhausting. It was a powerful video and this analysis proves just how much so.
Beautiful dissection and explanation of this video. Thank you so much for posting it and helping me to fully understand the depth of this video. They (the Carter's) are some of my favorite artist 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💞
I also think you can see from Beyonce's art that she is interested in movements and silhouette. There is a clip in the Homecoming live album where she talks about picking the dancers for the show and how she was in awe of how they moved their bodies, also in the documentary she mentions wanting people on stage looking unified but doing different things and having different bodies. If you've watched her videos over time, she does like to play with silhouettes and jerky movements. Am interview with Zerina Aker on the fashion of Black is King includes a comment on how Beyonce knew what silhouettes she wanted to explore. All this to say that your comments on movement and shape art is something trailing through Beyonce's work.
Fantastic analysis. Thanks for taking the time to educate those of us who missed much of the symbolism in this music video which is obviously a work of art by The Carters.
Thank U for breaking this down to capture the true essence of who we R and R meant to be💜💐🙏 I would love to know Beyonce and Jay-Z' take on this insight..Blessings Flowwww 💜💐🌈🙏🌊
Thank you, I was wondering a lot about this video but have not yet found analized enough videos of it, finally came here and enjoyed your explanations.
This was a beautifully well done video essay. I saw new perspectives I never considered when it came to Apeshit. “But his white wings convey the idea that authentic beauty can be found in unexpected places.” Wow
Beautiful, talented, smart, and rich and she is still undervalued for making overachieving for a hundred lifetimes look simple. This is why she is Queen B.
I’ve been at le Louvre to an exposition on the them of Apshit music video. But your video is totally better and complete ! Good explanation, and very good analyses betwin the art works and the Carter’s meaning for the clip. You work is amazing ! Good job 👏🏾
Great insight, thank you. I also imagine that choosing the room with a sphinx was deliberate, since it’s been proven that the sphinx face was a face of a black man. And possibly Napoleon was the one to get rid of the Sphinx’s nose, since it would point to the pharaoh’s origins.
This was amazing and very informative, thank you! Can you break down their "Mood 4 Eva" music video? I believe there are many hidden messages in that one.
