Flushed out and interesting Empire mechanics is sorely needed. Currently, ruling as a king and emperor feels the same. I'd love to experience the challenge of ruling an empire with multiple political components to balance.

It'd be nice to have Vassal Types play more a role at the Empire level. Glory-hound kings should desire rapid expansion, but it should cause tension with your minority vassals. Minority vassals may want more of a voice by aiming for council positions or court positions which may anger your more parochial vassals. This would be an easy way for them to add depth to an existing mechanic that would add much more dynamic RP and even gameplay experiences.

What I think they should add to make empires feel unique and interesting would be a "imperial authority" mechanic which should change how your Empire plays as depending on how high or low it is. When it is extremely low your empire should start to fall apart and you should get more independence factions but when it is high factions should be weaker and you should get more money/soldiers and maybe it should let you introduce things like viceroyalties and the like.

I love that some empires have specific mechanics for themselves with varying degrees of importance. For example, Hispania is tied to the Struggle, HRE has the special election type, Byzantium has its own succession rules because of the Greek culture. I would love it if every Empire had its own 'thing' going on that the Imperial Court is interested in, but not necessarily all of their vassals. I would expect this would be made explicit if they were to add China in the future, with a Mandate of Heaven mechanic.
@Jacob-hc4mx
@Jacob-hc4mx 11 месяцев назад
I would like a faction rework. Imagine heretic vassals working together in order to preserve their faith. Or a house working together for expanding their power in the realm. I think factions should be more of an alliance of vassals rather than the objective-oriented groups that are right now.

@@Soul_TomatoThis might be a weird example but in Football Manager all your players that you manage organize themselves into groups based on language, age, and experience at the club. Vassals should definitely form power groups. Vassals that are all of a marginalized religion for example, or of the same house etc.

Mechanically speaking, I'd love to see an expansion on interactions between Dynasties and their long-term in-game relations. Think your Game of Thrones and their Houses, with their own long term friendships and rivalries and such. When I land one of my knights because he has particularly good stats/he's killed a lot of people, I'd want for that family to have some sort of long-term loyalty/favorability toward my own because of that context. Also idk if it'd be it's own DLC or be part of a greater British Isles DLC , but I'd love for Ireland in particular to get some more flavor. A potential ability to revive Irish/Celtic pagan religions with actual flavor would go so hard ngl. Because idk if it's just me, but when I play CK3 Ireland just isn't a particularly tantalizing option considering the Norse are OP and Iberia and Persia have so much more mechanical depth atm :/

I mean it makes sense the Iberian Conflict to be Hard. I mean, in theory they didn't solve it until the EU4 timeline. A lot of EU4 need to also be added, specially the early medieval ones. As Personal Unions, Vassals and Tributaries were even more common in the CK3 timeframe than then EU4 one.

Revamping of the HRE and ERE mechanics, Curia interactions, greater flavor in the Islamic faiths, trade/Silk Road implementation (maybe add Republics as playable) and if you’re going for RPG flavor, the option to play as a lesser inheriting heir upon character death so the player can make better use of the Dynasty mechanic if founding a new House. And a few new start dates (1187/Third Crusade and the Hundred Years’ War) to round it out.

The 3 big things I'd like to see. Trade/Republics. Trade ROUTES especially would make things a lot more interesting in choosing where to expand and why. Warfare: morale mechanic and levies spawning at vassal capitals alone would go a long way towards improving warfare, imo. Empire mechanics (HRE + Byzantine flavor) And to a lesser extent: Disease/Plague mechanics. Naval warfare (or at least naval transportation for armies requiring naval units to traverse the sea). I can live without these two but I'd welcome the addition. I'll be honest, tho, I could do without societies. They feel very gimmicky to me and I don't mind their absence.

Also IMO crusades & jihad should have more events triggered when the ruler is leading army in war (kinda like travel system). If you look at the events of First & Second Crusade, diplomacy/conflicts between crusader lords of different culture, racing to capture more land, miracles, would be a good addition on the RPG element side & can be DLC content

@Shifou974
@Shifou974 11 месяцев назад
@@Soul_Tomato Yeah they even implemented that in CK2 with Holy Fury. Venice could get an event chain to reorient the Crusade towards Constantinople. If the Crusaders won, the Byzantine Empire would be broken apart (There even was a cool mechanic where the Byzantine Emperor would flee and create a 'local' empire in Anatolia or the Balkan while the beneficiary of the Crusade would get the Latin Empire). There was also a Children's Crusade and a Sheperds' Crusade though they were rarer. It would be nice if they brought that back and even went a step further by allowing this kind of Crusade to target not only Islamic Empires but also other heretic Empires in Europe. Go all in the Crusader part of Crusader Kings.

The Roman Senate needs to have a influence on court politics and emperor ship in the Roman Empire, as the Roman Senate did not disband until the fall of Constantinople, so a Consul and Pro-Consul position would be pretty influential. It's not for everyone but it always added some extra spice in CK2 when it popped up in a playthrough. Also maybe some more depth in mechanics as well. I've been getting into EU4 and I love the ideas of aggressive expansion and having people to please in your country other than powerful vassals (The estates in EU4) So something similar would be fun I think. I would love to see the return of Secret Socieites, especially since become a mystic and a witch doesn't really seem worth it and it would be interesting as it could vary between different cultures and faiths since Witchcraft can either be accepted or not. Guilds could be interesting too, especially if you can establish them yourself and have them dedicated towards certain things. IE: Creating a trade guild focuses on development, wealth building, maybe if they become powerful enough you can sponsor expeditions towards Asia for a lot of wealth and potential events like being introduced to new ideas, cultures, etc. Creating a mercenary trope focuses on men-at-arm improvements, leadership improvements and if they get more powerful then they can be hired by other nearby kingdoms and any prestige or wealth they gain will go back to you or maybe allow you to send any unwanted children there to be a commander there.

College of cardinals mechanic, and expanded influence of papacy. I think powerful houses should be able to send family members to be cardinals, with hopes of one day being pope. Or when it’s time to elect a pope, influence the voting in some kind of way (ex. Bribing cardinals to elect your candidate and if your candidate wins you get a weak hook on him if he wins). Enough randomly generated popes, some popes were peasants but alot of them came from nobility. Also I think it should be more difficult to become a king, kings controlled by the computer should have mechanics to undermine powerful and potentially dangerous vassals. (Ex. If you’re a duke and you’ve been fabricating claims to expand your territory, maybe the king retracts a vassal from you, and you have to decide if you should capitulate or rebel) things like that.

I think Paradox should also start experimenting in CK3 by adding some EU4 mechanics. Like the Electors of the Empire (and actually show us the HRE Border Gore as it is) as well as the Mandate of Heaven if they add China. These mechanics, combined with the RPG nature of CK3 are bound to cause you rivalries and assassinations. Something you don't experience in EU4 as you play as the nation. But this exact same mechanics in a CK3 system is bound to cause a lot of chaos in the HRE. Which in theory the Medieval HRE should be far more chaotic than the EU4 one, since by the time of EU4 they had managed to implement some sort of centralization to at least avoid constant civil war. But in CK3 you still have the electors, but they raid, siege and even murder each other. It is the main reason Germany took so long to unite, there was a lot of bad blood among the nobles, as they were carrying grudges for centuries.

While I do think that the devs most likely have the next two years of content most likely planned out to some degree (with their castle floorplan) - I do agree that the best major mechanical expansion they could do is organisations. What the game needs the most, as I see it, is a proper rulership overhaul. Mechanics for empires. More laws. Possibilities to decide in which way your feudal structures are organized and the game taking your actions way more into account. Crusader Kings lacks one of the most important mechanics when it comes to accurately representing the politics of times represented in the game: Blood feuds In the legal system of Germanic tribes that invaded Rome, and later in the legal system of practically entire Europe, when a crime of murder or injury was commited by one man, his entire family would become a target of a vendetta. This revenge on not only the criminal, but also on their entire family all the way to largely unrelated cousins living hundreds of kilometers away, was seen as a perfectly legal conduct and one could avoid being declared a criminal by claiming it was done in the name of vendetta. It was the leading cause behind civil wars in medieval France, Germany and Italy, as some of the most powerful families of Europe would reenact "Romeo and Juliet" in the name of perpetual revenge. There was a way to stop it by paying a Wergeld, a monetary compensation for harm caused, but it often failed to stop these conflict. Many institutions of the Catholic church were invented specifically to combat these blood-feud-fueled civil wars, for example the idea of Sanctuary, the idea that criminals can hide from law enforcement on Church land, was invented so that the revenge-seeking family would be forced to take a wergeld instead of criminal's and their families' lives. And speaking of Catholic church, let's speak of Roman law. Roman law was a de-facto international law of the middle ages. The law in Germany and the law in France was more or less the same because most of both was based on a common basis of Roman law- but that doesn't mean law didn't develop during middle ages. In fact, probably the most well known school of law in the history of the whole world, that served as the basis for the MODERN UNIVERSITY EDUCATION SYSTEM and influenced the development of law for the next hundreds of years, was the law school in Bolonia- founded in 1088, mere 22 years after the original start date. It had tens or hundreds of thousands of student from the whole Europe, these student literally organising themselves around so-called "nations"- because they wanted to hang out with people who share the same language. It inspired the creation and organisation of hundreds of medieval universities. Why the FUCK is none of that in the game? Literally the most important school when it comes to the history of how our modern law was developed! It's students and the school itself had their safety guaranteed by Kaiser Friedrich Barbarossa! And nobody cares about it! Why are there no blood feuds?! Why can't you murder in revenge without it being a crime? Why is law so simplified and not representative of what was going on at the time? Why are schools limited to simple building instead of serving a bigger role in the game when they were so important and fascinating?

I really want a small DLC that I feel would add so much, Holidays. we already have the birthday party event and this would work similar to that where it occurs every few years but on the same day or timeframe. So we could have the obvious ones like Christmas, Easter and obviously others for different faiths. But we could also create our own Holidays, so let's say you're a vassal in the Holy Roman Empire and you start an Independence war and win, so from now on you'll occasionally get an event to celebrate Independence day or whatever you choose to name it. Or, maybe you have a past king or emperor that was so great that you decide to have a special day all about them and when you celebrate it you gain some renown or even something so basic as just a battle that you dominated in where you'll get bonuses to your men at arms and levies for celebrating it, this one especially I feel like is needed because you have a battle where you beat an overwhelming force and majorly turn the tide of a war but the game never acknowledges your feat so it's just forgotten.

I could list so many examples of this...) 2) battle system revamped. I would like to actually lose wars, and win battles with field strategy, not just numbers management. I would like have the possibility to deliver all war aspects to my marshall, rewarding and/or punishing him for the results. 3) empire dynamics being different to kingdoms, much more instable and prone to collapse. 4) lower life expectancy, and more unpredictability about it... higher child and childbirth mortality. After all, it's the middle ages. 5) a new lifestyle and activities for rulers, centered in law, justice e legislation. I think there are many examples of medieval rulers that which were marked by the legislative changes and enacted code of laws.

Adding on to the concept a Holy Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire DLC in Chapter 3, it would be interesting to flesh out the well noted struggle for taking the mantle of a true, united Roman Empire with the struggle mechanic for the HRE and Byzantines. Their opposition to each other and their ideas was very influential on world history, and even though there are decisions to take out the "German/Greek pretenders" as either the HRE or the Byzantines, it's mostly just that then eventually a Rome push. Making the conflict more complicated in-game by adding more nuance with new possible interlopers, mechanics, and major decisions would give the historical struggle for dominance and prestige between Holy Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire justice in its implementation in CK3, providing greater immersion for the time period, and most importantly, making gameplay even more fun for the two dominant medieval powers for a great part of the Middle Ages.

I am definitely craving a revised empire mechanic, especially concerning the HRE. So let me explain what I am dreaming of: Right now an Empire is just a bigger Kingdom and in the HRE you can basically cheat the system by creating the Kingdom of Germany title, once you become Emperor and saving the bulk of the Empire four your dynasty without having to worry for the election. The idea of the Empire was not just to be in one geographic area but to be the highest lord in all of Europe. Had another King proclaimed himself Emperor there would surely have been a war over this, forming other Empires should be much harder and would involve taking the title away from the current Emperor, there could only be one in the East and West. In the HRE not every ruler was an Emperor and those who were only became one at some point during their rule. That should be represented kind of like this: The Kingdom of Germany gets the new status of Elevated Kingdom and the election is only for the King of Germany, other Kingdom titles, like at the 1066 start Bohemia, Italy and Frisia can be subject to the Elevated Kingdom. To become Emperor the King must convince the pope to crown him. Multiple factors would factor in like the opinion obviously or the piety level of the Emperor. The Emperor can also make promises to the pope, like giving up a hook, a money bribe, entering an unique one-way alliance or participating in the next crusade, breaking a promise would lead most likely to an excommunication. The King would be under pressure to get the Imperial crown btw because as long as he is only a King he would be confronted with severe debuffs. For example vassals in other de-jure Kingdoms than his own are much more likely to join faction, he gets much less prestige and his sons are less likely to get elected as his successors. But as Emperor there would be special perks like taking the leadership role in crusades and simply being able to rule a realm much larger than de-jure Kingdoms without having to worry for partitions, in exchange for that uniquely powerful position you would have to deal with getting crowned with every new ruler. In addition to that there would be a struggle-like mechanic between the Pope and the Emperor because they need but at the same time hate each other. While the nobles and Bishops could have some influence on the struggle, Pope and Emperor would obviously be the dominating player, so unlike the two struggles already in the game you would be actually in control, once becoming Emperor. If the Pope or the Emperor wins the struggle they are in control of church positions in the Empire and can chose and depose Popes or Emperors respectively. If no one manages to win, they will eventually work out a compromise like in reality. I don’t know if I am explaining it well but I hope something like this would give the Pope and the Emperor a special relationship. Right now they have none whatsoever, despite it being the key relationship in medieval Western Europe.

We need more details in regions - Europe, Africa, Asia - imagine if all these regions got its own specific decisions and storylines, it would make the game more interesting. Commerce, together with Catholicism, was literally the backbone of Europe's rebirth in the Middle Ages (but the same could be said of Arab nations and Indian ones too), the basis of everything else from art and architecture to politics and to its very identity as a continental cultural entity which lasted for centuries and shaped the world like no one else. It can't be done without. Plus it offers tons of content. From the circuit of the Fairs, to the Pilgrimage routes and the Jubilees, to the Flemish port cities, to the Hansa cities, the Italian maritime republics, the Italian and German finance centers (often tied to the Papacy) such as Siena, Florence, Augusta, the German free cities and so on and so on, and the underlying structure of the Guilds. Not to mention intercontinental nodes such as Samarkand, Constantinople ecc or routes such as the Silk road. Seriously, what are they waiting for? Develop these damn themes!

My 2 cents on CK3, part of it you touched on with the Legacy of Rome, but hopefully I can expand/clarify things. 1) Until the succession mechanics are changed, I'm not going to sink any real time into CK3 vs CK2. I'm fed up with EVERY succession EVERYWHERE becoming an overly punishing headache, forcing the player's domains getting partitioned up evenly unless they OCD over exploiting said succession, commonly at cost of renown (disinheriting children) rather than nominating a successor - which was more common in places like modern day Russia, England, Germany, and the Byzantine Empire. This is my #1 issue with CK3 and it really kills any enjoyment I have with my runs. 2) Ok, now to break down Legacy of Rome...viceroyalties and more historical honorary titles. In the case of the Byzantines, CK2 features Roman titles that were still in use - even if their meaning from antiquity had changed considerably - such as consuls, caesars, and augustus. Additionally, viceroyalties is something that is frequently ignored and forgotten by anyone who didn't play Byzantines (the only empire that can utilize this mechanic before the late game and not risk imploding the empire by shifting from hereditary landed titles to viceroyalty titles that revert back to the emperor upon the death of the holder). Historically, the empire was divided into administrative districts called themes, each with its own provincial military (also called a theme). A strategos was both the admin head of the theme and the military theme's commanding general. The themes were reasonably well reflected with the viceroyalty system and also offered a mechanic to further increase the emperor's control and influence over the lesser lords, unlike feudal Europe. Because, if you have a duchy with 2 counties and each held by a different count, viceroyalties allow you to give the title to whichever count is more loyal to you. Once the new "duke" (called a strategos) dies, the title comes back to the emperor, who then decides among the counts again who gets to rise up. 2.1) 4th Crusade mechanic CK2 had a scripted event for the 4th Crusade, where at least 1 crusade would be called on the Byzantines by the Catholics. If the crusaders succeed, they form the Latin Empire, gutting the center of the Roman Empire into their own crusader states. CK3 I've yet to see this ever happen, even with the ability to redirect crusades, as the Byzantines don't seem to be a valid target when changing the target. 2.2) Iconoclasm Technically present in CK3, it's really not a relevant thing due to the 9th century start date under the Macedon dynasty. CK2 has an 8th century start date where Iconoclasm is MUCH more relevant. 3) New ideas for Byzantine flavor pack material -Collapse of the Themata and Tagmata: an event that happened historically, but is poorly reflected in both CK2 and CK3 is the fallout of the Seljuk conquest of Anatolia. The themata (the system of districts and their military forces mentioned in 2) had become rife with corruption and saw the whole system collapse in 1071. The main imperial army, the tagmata, was destroyed at the same time at Manzikert, with fragments of both forces being erroded between 1071 and 1081 between invasions by the Seljuk Turks, Pechenegs, Cumans, and Normans. I'd like to see something to reflect a military collapse and the need for reforms if the Byzantines lose a large swath of territory (such as what's at risk in the 1066 start date). This can be tied to either a scripted event and/or a criteria of lost territory and military manpower. -Pronoia System: The solution that the Romans implemented after the collapse of the theme system was the pronoia system. Pronoias took the forms of non-hereditary land grants and/or tax exemptions. The first form could be counted again with the viceroyalty system, but could be extended to include counties. For the latter, I think a new mechanic of granting Byzantine knights (incorrectly called Hetarria in game, as oikeioi would probably be better for the role they fill) increased wages for military service could be good, or make them a unit type for the regiments. Without getting too much into the weeds and nuances of certain historical and gaming elements, I think that hits on my biggest contributions for the conversation.

Trade would be awesome to have implemented. And with war, id love to have real time battles like total war. So an outnumbered army could win with the right tactics. Being able to tell your vassals what you'd like them to build up on, such an income or levies would be good too. If they implement more struggles, it would be good if they added an option to toggle whether they exist or not, this would satisfy the people who dont like the struggle dynamic. An improvement on intrigue would be cool too, adding animations for assassins or something would also be an interesting feature too.

My wishlist: - Celtic flavor pack, with the ability to revive Druidic religion - 769 start date - perhaps start dates that are even earlier, for the fall of western Rome and for the Muslim conquests. - Crusade/Jihad start dates (before and after); it is CRUSADER kings, after all. - For Tibet, I want members of the Pugyel dynasty bookmarked so that the Bod Chen Po achievement is more accessible, so to speak. - For India, I just want there to be bookmarks there. So that people are more likely to try it out. - For Africa, same as India. - For the Steppe, I want bookmarks AND a migration Cassus Belli that doesn’t depend on special events. In history, people from the Steppe were constantly moving and migrating to adjacent areas. It could even be weighted to that if you’re close to the Steppe, you’re more likely to be targeted for migration if your lands are well-developed and productive. - The ability to play republics (and maybe theocracies also?)

Guilds and trade is #1 for me. It would allow more options for playing tall. As it stands now, playing tall usually results in me putting the game at max speed and watching youtube videos while I sit there and collect enough gold to build more things. It gets boring after a while and I usually end up conquering to help break up the monotony. Guilds and trade would give you a lot more to do playing tall and would make it more viable and interesting to play historically small but powerful kingdoms. Frisia/Netherlands is a great example, the Dutch East India company was huge and the Dutch were a powerful mercantile based kingdom. As of now you dont get a whole lot of options to play the Dutch in such a way. I think personally things I would like to see a trade and guilds dlc include would be: 1) Trade Embassies: Allow players and NPC's to lease or purchase cities in foreign lands much like how holy orders do. The leasing player gets to take a percentage of tax/levies from the area, chooses buildings construction and opens up new events that increase/decrease cultural acceptence for different rewards. Leased land would remain in its de jure and cannot be integrated into another title. Characters who own the leased cities de jure title can revoke the lease with the current owner being able to accept for a payout or refuse and war to maintain control. Players would typically need good relations with a ruler to lease a city and rulers suffering in serious debt would be more likely to accept. 2) Trade missions: Allow players to travel on trade missions much like a pilgrimage. Players may choose to go themselves for additional rewards but increased danger or send a vassal/house member for fewer rewards. Trade missions could result in outcomes where you sacrifice a percentage of levies gaining passive gold income as a result, or vice versa. It may result in you sacrificing large sums of gold like, giving 500 gold to another ruler but said ruler supplies you with resources for building, decreasing building time and increasing development growth. Trade missions could also allow players to purchase cultural innovations, sacrificing say 1000 gold to receive knowledge of another cultures innovations. Starting tribal in 1066 can be annoying as you typicaly are far behind in innovations and usually need to form a hybrid culture to catch up. Purchasing innovations could help mitigate the need to form hybrid cultures to quickly unlock innovations. 3) Guild leasing: Allow players to lease or establish guilds in their cities much like holy orders. Cities leased by guilds would become republican vassals and increase their counties development, reduce building cost or provide additional gold income but may reduce levy amounts and prevent the player from deciding building upgrades. Different types of guilds may infer different bonuses as well. A forestry guild may increase the bonuses from the forestry line of building for all holdings in the de jure duchy/county. 4) Purchase Alliances: As it says, this would allow players to enter agreements with foreign rulers to defend their territory. Essentially letting you pay for a defensive pact where you lose say -5 gold income in exchange for allowing you to call in the allied ruler to help you in defensive wars. 5) Allow a player to purchase specialty units not available to their culture: This allows a player to say purchase Cataphracts from the Byzantines or Landschnekts from Germans so long as they have an alliance with said ruler. Recruiting other cultures special men-at-arms would cost 50% more for you than the appropriate culture. If an alliance ends, you keep said specialty units but cannot purchase more until you enter another alliance with the appropriate culture. Men-at-Arms units purchased this way may lose unit stacks over time as well, meaning eventually you lose them entirely if you go long periods without an alliance to the appropriate culture. 6) Trade based specialty buildings: GIve more specialty buildings that relate to trade. Allow the building of a specialty building in for example Amsterdam that increases naval speed, decreases embark cost and increases trade and interaction distances allowing trade/diplomacy with places outside your usual range for such things. Places like Porto, Venice, etc could all benefit from trade based specialty buildings. 7) Investments: This allows a player to invest gold for specific bonuses. You would gain decisions to invest gold, when making the decision you pay increasing amounts of gold depending on your titles rank in exchange for passive bonuses. Like paying 100 gold as a count, 250 as a duke, 500 gold as a king, and 1000 as an emperor to invest in weapons/armour production increasing your armies toughness/damage for 15 years.

My prediction, assuming Chapter 3 follows 2 and 1 in style, would be the major expansion is all about adding mechanics to Empires/realm management, a large flavor pack about the Byzantines and everything that involves, and a small flavor pack about factions and intrigue. To me this creates a relatively cohesive vision though admittedly the previous chapters aren’t like that. T&T is just crazy and I am including the free content because it is one package, if Paradox brings that level of work to just Empire and realm mechanics… oh my god. Byzantine flavor pack just feels like an obvious follow up and Aww crap, I forgot they said that they’re retooling how the chapters work. The mechanical dlc will be empire (it’s basically confirmed), the flavor dlc will be Byzantines, and the minor dlc will be factions… actually maybe the Papacy and the college of cardinals. The dream would be an empire dlc, an India Flavor pack, and a romance minor dlc.

Two things high on my list are Economy and trade, and having better councillors. Economy can affect the way we play. Maybe we want to take this particular county not just because, but because there’s an important port city that could give your kingdom more gold. Establishing good relations with republics for e.g. Venice could give us a financial boost or something. Councillors are pretty dead currently. For the most part, they sit there just doing their tasks. However, historically, councillors do have the power the sway the king’s decision. If councillors could have more flavor and actually do more, it can add to the immersion, change the way we make decisions, and even add some intrigue in court, if they’re sly enough.

Like why can't we use the mechanic of the dinasty with for example the carolingians or the spanish kings? I think the mechanic of assigning tasks to vassals that was mentioned should be implemented with the vassal contract mechanic which is currently highly under utilized and under developed. Want to have a buffer zone against a rival empire with forts? Hand it over to a March vassal! Want an insanely developed region that fills your coffers with gold? Hand it over to some republican vassal! Perhaps if whenever you give land to someone that wasn’t previously a vassal you had to select what contract you would want based on YOUR focus on that region (vassal that converts the lands culture would be something very useful to me), but if they’re ambitious or disloyal (and thus prioritize their own focuses instead of yours) or have opposing traits or inadequate skills for their contract (compassionate doesn’t want to convert culture of the land, low martial makes bad March lord, etc) vassals would want to renegotiate with you for a different contract depending on their focuses, especially as generations pass and the original high martial, brave, loyal lord you set up on a rivals border had passed on their March contract to their low martial disloyal and cowardly son. It would expand upon internal politics and on who to put in charge of land (which I think should be a way more thought out process) it would also be very dynamic and RPG related instead of simply +20% levies for -10% gold because why do that when i can just increase taxes or levies to high whenever I have a hook (also please don’t make it a once in a lifetime per vassal thing it’s really annoying and makes it a really static mechanic). Would love to hear thoughts, flaws and potential improvements for this concept as well as ideas for different types of vassal contracts!

Imo, the “simplest” stuff that I would like to see is just some modernized implementations of ck2 mechanics that haven’t been implemented yet. More crown laws than just an “authority” slider, additional systems like prosperity, trade, and plague, Hordes and Merchant Republics, revamped societies (because as much as I liked them, I do agree with some criticisms that they tended to be shallow, like the Monastic societies were just virtue farming to spam your heirs with good traits, etc), also would it kill them to re-implement ships and ck2 style combat? I really prefer the ck2 system for both. Landlocked counties could still pay for boats like we do now, but make it more expensive or make them mercenary ships again, or heaven forbid a new interaction where you could hire ships from coastal realms for a steep penny or some other stuff.

We need a republic DLC using an italian struggle as a backdrop where you have to balance out the power in Italy between the more pope dependant dukes and princes vs the more autonomous republic cities, adding spice with german and byzantine interventions (HRE and ERE). Idk why Italy wasn't their first region to create a struggle considering it was know for how fragmented it was from the 11th century onwards

I think empires should be more unstable, requiring careful maneuvering to establish a lasting legacy. The ability to develop a unique man-at-arms specialist unit would also be cool (Maybe choose a unit chassis and get an upgrade point for every (integrated?) Kingdom). Unique imperial infrastructure/pubic works projects for the whole country and an empire-tier building slot with a variety of choices would be welcome. Hmm, there's a lot that could be done, these are just the ones that came to me quickly
@Soul_Tomato

Why unstable Empires? Traditionally most in our own history were relatively alright for the first few hundred years (if they made it that long of course)

@@Soul_Tomato Think about all the Roman civil wars, the waxing and waning of Byzantine borders, the Hittite Empire rose and fell two or three times depending if one includes the Neo-Hittites, Ahsokha's Empire (the Maurya) lasted barely over a hundred years. So yeah stability does exist in empires but it's hard won and like you yourself said "if they made it that long" it should be harder to establish an empire so it feels really satisfying once you establish a more lasting formation. I suppose gavelkind helps with that early on but I think you get my idea now :)

I often don't feel motivated to build buildings, because there is usually much cooler stuff to do with my money, although sometimes it would be smarter to build buildings because of (boring but good) modifiers. It would be cool if characters that live in your holding (not the holding's owner, but an influential figure living there) request you to build a certain type of building. If you don't popular opinion decreases a bit. So you are a bit more motivated to delve into building buildings.

I really want them to bring back and overhaul the “child of destiny” event series to ck3. More specifically I want there to by dynamic AI characters that shake up the game. My idea is a handful of character templates like: a conquerer, a prophet, or a monster The conquerer would get all kinds of Marshall and prowess bonuses. The AI would aggressively start wars and maybe they even get all kinds of event troops to make their wars more likely to be won The monster would be intrigue based. They get all kinds of scheme success chances. They constantly are looking to kill, kidnap and destroy leaders of large nations. Maybe they even have the ability to pin their crimes on others to cause feuds. The prophet would be guaranteed to form a cultist religious to that destabilizes their region. Maybe it causes a struggle in the area where the cult religion gets all kinds of buffs Having these effects be able to fire on custom characters would be cool too but I really want more dynamic AI characters that present a challenge

I noticed they decide on the DLCs based on problems with gameplay. Royal Courts was supposed to aimed the diferrence between duchies and kingdoms (progres through gaining more titles). Tours and Tournaments aimed to fill the time when you're not at war. For now on, I can't really say what is comunity problem with a gameplay. I supose there's still no significant diferrence because rank of your titles so we might get DLC based around empires. I mean all in one about HRE, Byzantium and some minor changes to other empires but not going too deep into politics of HRE and Byzantium leaving it for futher improvments. For me personally the biggest problem is a state of game when you don't have what to do with your prestige and piety. Piety you may spend on reforming a religion but you do it once per run. Imo, they need to issue this problem. With piety they might improve schisms and with prestige more mechanics to make vassals do what you want e.x. force vasal to go on a war.

Been waiting since release to see Societies make a full fledged return with their own skill tree even where you join them you get to invest points you get from leveling your rank in the society you're in, I loved em a lot in CK2 so the fact that 3 years in we still haven't heard even a whisper about a return has really disappointed me. The 2nd thing I want most would be to have actual disease mechanics return, the reaper's due from CK2 is among the best dlcs they did and i was really expecting that mechanic to be a core part of CK3 base content at launch, it's terrifying and also kinda awesome seeing clouds of death sweeping around Europe and it also means you can more visually tell when danger is near you instead of it purely being RNG if you get sick. I especially liked the visual feedback of the black death swooping over europe and everything falling into chaos, burning with piles of bodies everywhere, it was a genuine brutal panic moment each run and i always and loved it.

By the way, a Byzantine Empire flavour pack really should encompass all of South Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. All of these regions were in the same cultural sphere of the Byzantine Empire and had similar institutions and cultures, not to mention the Orthodox faith. Russia I'm assuming will get it's own flavour pack in the future anyways seperate from the Byzantine one, but states like Georgie, Armenia, Bulgaria and Serbia should be included in any Byzantine expansion.

in all honesty i like ck3 as is right now. one thing i would add, is for the player/main character to be able to be a KNIGHT in batt;e (not only command battles, but fight in them too)

How do you mean? You are already able to do that. Your character, even if they’re the commander, fights in the battle (hence why you can die or be wounded). Unless I’m misunderstanding you or unless you mean like a bannerlord system.

I’d love to see a rework on religions, i remember how much i got immersed playing in Persia trying to revive Zoroastrianism, and every decade i’d notice with some dread that provinces owned by the Abbassids started being converted, in CK 3 though Zoroastrianism dies in less than a decade and it breaks immersion. Changing the religion of a massive chunk of land shouldn’t be so straightforward, it feels ahistorical, another example are the hellenic pagans, it took centuries for them to go completely extinct.
@Soul_Tomato

i think brythonic paganism needs a lot of flavor, although there are many pagan faiths like asatru, ukonusko and hellenism for example the brits only get a very generic pagan faith that has (IIRC) really badly distributed holy sites. other super regions need their specific pagan faiths as well like indian subcontinent for example. also i think special buildings need some alt-history flavor as well, as of now if you are not a certain faith it will be disabled no matter what the function is. like mont st. michel, although it was an important site for christians the in-game description tells that it was soon recognized for it's importance as a fortification. i don't think it would make sense for example a hellenic ruler to disregard this site entirely but rather allow them to build it up with reduced/different bonuses. EDIT: almost forgot i think there needs to be more buildings like fortifications that allow you to buff your siege equipment and also rework the placement of special buildings that more of them (especially mines) line up with duchy capitals allowing you to buff your men at arms even more.
