Beginning woodworkers might be in for a surprise when they first try to change the blade on a miter saw. In this video we show how to get access to the blade arbor and then teach you the correct direction for your wrench to go in order to loosen the arbor bolt. Yes, if you read the instruction manual it will tell you how to do this, but this video will also take you through the steps for changing the blade on a DeWalt DW715 Miter Saw. This is one of the videos from our "What the Heck Is... " video series - these are designed to be short and useful for beginning woodworkers. Our plan is to have many of these available within a short period of time - check out the Playlist.

Admittedly, this is not one of my best videos. My feet got knocked out from under me when I lost my wife of 30 years to cancer in September, 2021. I am just now crawling back to life as an Old Coot but many adventures planned. Look for virtual workshop tours of great workshops around the world, beginner tips, and Old Coot Van Adventures videos about converting a Mercedes Sprinter to a Class B RV and then using it to visit workshops in the USA.

Sorry to hear about your wife's passing. Glad you took some time away from RU-vid to grieve. I am excited to see you back making videos, but don't rush it if you aren't ready.

Paul, I want to again express my condolences for the loss of your wife. Although your pain will never fully go away, I have found that you will reach a point in time that it won't hurt so much. As a lifelong automotive technician, I always told any trainees that I mentored that bolts are always righty tighty, lefty loosy, except under certain circumstances. The left side lug bolts on 60s era Mopars, (maybe further back too, IDK), are one exception. Quick story; I was asked by a relatively new tech that was trying to remove an oil drain plug why the corners were rounding, and I pointed out that he was trying to loosen it by turning it the wrong way. He said that he was, (emphasis on "was"), turning it the right way, but it was just too tight. I told him that he was looking at the drain plug from opposite side of how it was going to come out, so he was tightening it more, not loosening it. I told him to always pay attention to which way the fastener is going to be removed so that he would turn it the correct way before trying to loosen it. Sorry, it wasn't such a quick story after all. I learned a trick a long time ago, and it probably saved me a lot of busted knuckles. If you have a fastener that is not loosening easily, try tightening it. In my experience, it will tighten just a little bit more, and then it will be easier to loosen. I didn't believe it would work when I was first shown the trick, but like I said, it probably saved me from busting my knuckles more times that I can count.

Hi Paul it's good to see you back on RU-vid as always. Hope you're well and so too your wife, Happy Newyear to you both, how long before we get a video of you working on your van conversion? As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.

Simon, thank you for the good wishes. Unfortunately, my wife passed away on September 22, 2021 after an 8 month battle with Uterine Cancer. We had a beautiful celebration of her life in our backyard overlooking the Monterey Bay. Her loss knocked me of my feet for a while but I am getting better. Working on some van conversion videos right now and those will be out soon,

One other thing Paul. I'm thinking of getting a Diablo 12 inch 100 tooth for my DeWalt. Are you happy with your 96 tooth and would you buy it again?
@SmallWorkshopGuy
@SmallWorkshopGuy 2 года назад
The 96 tooth blade is specifically for cutting extruded aluminum for my van conversion project. Can't comment on it for any other purpose.
