In La Liga, there is a similar situation about one of the big clubs. Valencia were still locked in 18th. Previously, the club was once a major European force, winning 2 La Liga titles, the UEFA Cup in 2004, and also played 2 Champions League Finals in 2000 and 2001. When Peter Lim arrived, the club went from bad to even worse, despite winning 2 further Copa del Rey titles, qualified for the Champions League and the Europa League semifinals in multiple occasions, with the recent one being in 2018-19.

Losing Kasper was a big one I know his post shot xg last season was awful but he was also a crucial voice for the side and he's shown in moments at Nice he can still perform lack of investment for sure another big one but most importantly I knew at the end of last season most of the squad had to be moved on a rebuild had to take place all the fans knew even Brendan knew not financially but reputation wise we were in a much better position to do that than we will be this summer.

Losing Schmeichel wouldn't have been that bad a decision had Leicester lined up a decent replacement. It was baffling that they just went "ok kasper is gone, let's just throw in the reserve and see if it works out". There's always plenty of decent keepers available so it's baffling why Leicester didn't bother sorting this out. Even Forest have managed to bag Navas and Henderson on loan. Rogers doesnt know how to try new formations and he lost the dressing room last season. but, is it all his fault? no! Leicester have a habit of selling our best players for a lot of money then spending a tiny portion of it on replacements. Signings like Daka, Perez, Bertrant, while letting chilwell, maguire, Mahrez and Fofana leave, have turned the team stale! They keep constantly injured players like Justin (who came to the team injured) Evans and Ricardo on the wage bill instead of releasing them and using the money to bring in some quality. Vardy is a legend but hes passed it.. get him off the wage bill and give Kelechi a go. Youri T, mads and the big turk will leave, although, Youri T is probably the shittest player we have and i'm glad he's going. but what do we do? if we dont buy AGAIN we are left with Praet, Mendy and Soumare. Ndidi will probably leave in the summer. It all comes down to the board and the owner. They shouldve sacked rogers a year ago. They say there is no money for players but they can build hotels and shopping malls around the stadium, not to mention the 100 million spend on the training facility... and what an improvement its made!! I understand their business is duty free and it took a hit during covid, but how can every other team in the prem and most of the teams in the championship spend more than us on players. The sell the best and bring in shite mentality has got us into big trouble. We really needed to strenghen up in defence so the buy Souter, a championship standard player while Rogers refused to play probably our best defender who will now leave on a free. TETE.....enough said! Tell me how we still havent managed to replace Mahrez? Lets get more defenders cos we only have like10, we have no cover for Barnes if hes injured. nobody to play right wing if Tete is injured. we rely on Vardy the dinosaur, Maddison who cant put a tackle in and Barnes who doesnt know how to pass! The team is a joke right now and needs a complete overhall at the end of the season. Am i being a little harsh? no!! Since the world cup there has been no effort to fix any of the problems, no effort shown on the pitch or off it. It's been painful and frustrating to sit through 90 mins each week. If they go down maybe it will wake the owners up as the wave byebye to 250 million in Tv rights. Dont just overhall the team, overhall the board and bring in someone to run our club the right way. As i write this I know we have Leeds tonight then Everton. If we play as good or better than we did on saturday relegation will be avoided. Dean is a smart man, He keeps us up and hes's a hero. We go down and it's not his fault cos we left it too late. If we do stay up we will be going into next season with 5-6 of our first team players gone. They put themselves in this position by letting contracts run down because once again they don't want to spend. If we go down probably 9-10 players will ask to be sold. although championship football is the right level for most of our playes! The shinning light... our new left back is looking like the full package and we have some very talented youngsters coming through hopefully they wont all be as bad as KDH. RANT OVER.

This is hypothetical because it never happened unfortunately, but when Ranieri took over at Leicester,he originally had a 3 year contract, which ,after we won it,he extended to 5 years. If he saw out his contract, and left in th Summer of 2020,and we had finished in the top 6 every season,he would have gone down as a proper Foxes legend, and a Premier League great. But,because he signed Zieler, Kapustka,Hernandez,Musa, Mendy and Slimani, and changed a winning style of football,he got sacked,we had to bring in Shakespeare as interim manager, then Puel, then Rodgers ! If Arsenal win the League this season,Arteta won't be sacked by February next year because Arsenal will all of a sudden disappear, which is what happened to us because Ranieri couldn't do his job properly ! That's why things have got like this at Leicester. Since the title win,we should have been established as a top half team, been in Europe one way or the other most seasons since 2016,and NOW,have a top pedigree manager. As long as I live I will NEVER credit Ranieri for winning us the title. As far as I'm concerned,it was Pearson and Shakey who won it for us !

@@tHe__goaat2394 so what you're saying is Pearson said. So if Ranieri was the person who won it,why couldn't he carry things on the next season ? BECAUSE he totally dismantled Pearson's side, and changed their style of play, that's why we were going down,he lost the dressing room, and got sacked. Why has he been sacked almost everywhere he has been ? He had 31 games to keep Watford up,and still couldn't last until the end of the season .If you think he did win it for us,it was only because of Pearson's signings AND his style of play, which that idiot changed !

Should have got rid of Rodgers before the world cup at latest. For 18 months the football as been dire. Very side to side, no intensity or intent. He has consistently played a system that hasn't worked and let personal grudges get in the way of playing his best side. As for the "lack of investment" Rodgers still had largely the same squad that finished 5th twice in a row, although Leicester don't spend big on players they have always been good at shrewd purchased made on analytics and stats a lot like how brighton do things, rodgers went against this and the advice of the scouting team bringing in sub par players on high wages such as vestegaard. Also by all accounts forcing schmeichel out and getting rid of a lot of long standing backroom staff has made the mess that they are in atm. Also the fact that unlike the late vichai, Top isn't as ruthless when making big decisions so let it stagnate far too long. Says it all that since Rodgers has gone soyucu has put in 2 Motm performances and Soumare had a worldie against wolves when previously he looked lazy and disinterested. I think Rodgers constantly throwing the squad under the bus shredded any confidence they had an Smith has a big job on his hands bringing that back

Think villa are 5 th most successful team in English football history, so they would be in the real big 6, but I guess that wouldn't fit into the media narrative, the phrase suggests it's a closed shop, most of these perceived big 6 are new money and only in last 20 years have they had success, but how are spurs perceived as a big 6 team?... Not after an answer but just goes to show the big 6 thing is bollocks lol

You mean Championship winners? That league is very tough. Burnley has competent leadership and look at Norwich this time.

@@diputsstnemmoc8141 what has he done in the last 10 games? 1 assist, no goals, 4 points from a possible 30, if you hadn’t won your last game it would be worse, if that’s even possible. Maddison is a waste of wages.
