What is perplexing most is that the endgame is focusing on elseworlds, alternate dimensions/timelines etc. so the question becomes "why did you set this in the Arkham timeline?"
@@n4ughty_knight I mean other than "this is the Arkham timeline" it doesn't have cred because everyone hates the storyline and idea that they're killing Batman

@@justindenson3686But hey who tf cares about Injustice. Arkham Games are considered to be the Best SuperHero games of all time. @@TheMaddenGuy1 Because the people most interested in sales is WB, who's known to tamper with projects before. Why would Rocksteady want to make a looter shooter with a battle pass all of a sudden?
If the Justice League was being mind controlled and truly no longer holding back they would be unstoppable. Each and every one of them is capable of being a serious global threat in their own way. The idea that some group of B-list criminals (who were already defeated and captured!) could defeat them was ridiculous from the start.
Heck even batman wouldn't be able or have a hard time fighting a not holding back Justice League... Injustice batman even need a lot of help from other heroes and even alternate universe heroes to beat a unhinged Justice League

@@adrudds We think that but we're over here saying we can do what they're doing better. If we knew Anthem's problems before launch and were invited to help them - after knowing what we know now - shit I would have jumped ship.
To be fair, the gameplay was doomed from the beginning. How do you "play" as King Shark? Cpt Boomerang is a goof character from a bygone Era of toned down heroes. Harley Quinn is not a threat to any League member, in any capacity, period. This was preordained, room temp garbage.
And let's not forget batman in the last game saying his emotional goodbyes and even as far as telling Selena that her or anyone would never see him again only to IMMEDIATELY GO TO METROPLOIS AND JOIN THE JUSTICE LEAGUE
tf you think Captain Boomerang is going to do against Aliens WITH A FUCKING BOOMERANG? and it isn't teleportation, close to it, but he's just running and catching the boomerang while using a Speedforce Gauntlet
@@silverking8460 True but at least it’s planned. For all we know it could’ve been technical problems with offline compared to online that they needed to work on. Problem is in this era of gaming, majority of people have internet and don’t tend to focus on the offline group that much. The best thing Rocksteady said way before launch was working on an offline mode, would took years for any other company. Better late than never in my opinion.
Oh man that sounds crazy. Almost like a game company making single player FPS bangers like Dishonored being forced to make live service 4 player co op vampire trash.
It’s so sad to see because the facial capture in cutscenes and the art direction for parts of metropolis are GORGEOUS. Even some of the game elements like the movement of the characters (especially boomerang’s teleport) is so fucking cool. I really wish we could have had this game as a single-player rpg but here we are :(.
Honestly as much as I hate to admit it, I agree. The character movements are insanely fluid and look really good. Metropolis looks like a place that would've been good to explore under different circumstances. Cutscene visuals looks top tier. All these things makes the game suck even more because of all these assets were wasted on the Suicide Squad in general, and on a looter live service model
Maybe a justice league game or simply a superman game. This could have been an execptional place to make a fully featured Superman game as a single player experience. I think the company could have pulled that off.
rocksteady having a hard time making 4 characters unique on a million dollar budget while Earth Defense Force by Sandlot was able to make 4 unique characters with 35 people and pocket change
Or Superman. Or Wonderwoman. Or Batman with Preparation. Brainiac Controlling any of them needs more of a Team like Trigon, Darkseid, Reverse Flash and Dr fate, Not those Suicide squad idiots.
But those characters dont use any replacable/upgradable equipment that can leverage lootboxex, shooter-looter game mechanic and crafting upgrading.... They needed characters that can drop and equip stuff... because for any JL members it doesn't make sense and would be even more jaring. But since they dropped the lootbox mechanic at the last minute the whole thing crumples even more....
I think the main thing we're all concerned about is whether or not harley looks LGBT/cosplayable enough. Like, slay kween. I mean who even likes batman
it was a clone. his finger literally grows back out of no where, brainiac still has them and we break em out one by one each season. but i’m enjoying it a lot
There’s an alternate universe where someone at WB said “hey why are we making a game about the dumbass Suicide Squad and another separate game about Batman’s protégés that have nothing to do with each other? Let’s combine those 2 ideas”. Gotham Knights but with the budget this game had and the general plot about needing to save the Justice League from Brainiacs mind control while being a proper sequel to the Arkham series starring characters we know and have played as like Robin, Red Hood, Nightwing, and Batgirl/Oracle would’ve been a thousand times better than this suicide squad shit. Hell they could’ve then used seasons to introduce new heroes we haven’t played as and new Bat Family members and other heroes like Damian, Azrael, Black Canary, Green Arrow, etc. but no that makes too much sense
Falcon, you nailed it right at the end. This game just screams WB turning to Rocksteady and saying "I dont care what you want to do, make us endless money" and Rocksteady likely having no choice but to comply.
-"Guys this game will have 6 seasons as new content" -"So we going to have like a new threat, enemies and boss every season?" -"What? No. You're going to fight same guy over and over for the next 6 seasons"
Hopefully they at least mix it up a bit. So far I see this as destiny 2 vanilla start. It didn't have that good of a start but it sure did build up as it went on.
Honestly, if the game JUST came out but the devs are already saying "look to future updates and seasons" then that says whatever you're playing in the beginning just isnt good or important.
I just want to throw this out there This game was in development still when the avengers game came out, that was 4 years ago. So the developers of the time saw the backlash avengers got and STILL kept making it live service.
I just started my Arkham journey, I'm already at Arkham City and I can say one thing for sure, Arkham Knight will be the last game I play. I'm not touching this dumpster fire of a game. RIP Kevin Conroy 😢
Maybe the concept of killing heroes will tend to bring in developers/writers/etc... who aren't so much interested in creating a game that fans of the previous games will love, but instead want to inject their own subversive ideas. Yeah, it is a bad premise for a game. It invites toxicity and hatred of what is truly good and beautiful. The "they were mind controlled" shtick is a low-effort cop-out.
Some of the parts I've seen discussed in other places, especially Harley's final words to Batman, read to me like it was ripped from some crappy character-bashing fanfiction. Any potential legitimate character flaws are mixed with made-up flaws, then exaggerated to extreme proportions to create a shallow caricature of the character. This character is then "ripped apart" by someone who barley knows anything about the surface level character, much less willing to look deeper into them.
Here’s a safe bet for EVERY GAME : if there is a battle pass ESPECIALLY AT LAUNCH, the developers are more worried about return on investment then delivering any type of playable game.
Things that went wrong: -Sweet Baby -Live Service -Writing not even familiar with general lore -Original Rocksteady gone -Thinking you would actually be able to shoot Flash or Superman
Let's not forget that even there own game scenes kills itself. Brainwashed King Shark doesn't need the green lantern ring to eat his opponents. "King Shark is Shark"
Remember like a week ago when the general sentiment was the creators of Palworld just meshed a whole bunch of things from other games and it worked… this game meshed a whole bunch of things from the wrong games and it didn’t, it didn’t work at all.
It sucks for the people involved that worked on the game because the people working on the game, developers to actors, did the best with what they were forced to do. It sucks even more for Rocksteady, and other studios forced to make games like this, because their name is being dragged through the mud when it’s very likely the integrity lacking suits above them forcing them to go this route. People don’t want to lose their jobs and have to suck it up all while being the face and recipients of the backlash. Meanwhile those suits get off scot free for their obvious mismanagement and shitty decision making.

Fools like you make me laugh out loud. Not understanding what the passage of time is and how investing money into things works. This game started development years ago and after 2 years would have had too many resources put into it for the company to back out. This game and the live service element would have been too far along years before people decided they had enough of live service games.
The "protagonists" are hollow, childish, do not grow over the course of their stories, entitled, have powers they did not earn or pay for, and have no redeeming or heroic qualities -- in short, the devs made characters that *they* could relate to, but humans can not.
As someone who works at a company with two co-founders, if those two left, it would be a completely different company. The founders are often the driving force behind the vision. So you’re totally right - it’s a rocksteady game in name but this essentially a different company that made this
If the start was the burning down of Wayne Manor and not Ra's attack, yeah, I could see that Really only changes some dialogue, minor plot tweaks and removes the protect Batman's identity side missions

Rock steady made a perfect live service model. All future content free, forever. Pay once and done. If any other studio made this game it would be getting praised, saying "this is how you do live service". Unfortunately people are focused on WHO made the game, not the game itself. @@jesse1086I highly doubt ALL the future contents will be free, especially even Destiny can’t do that. What the hell is going on with the CEOs? Churning out half baked games, only to cut their staff when it didn’t land. The consumers are getting sour and the staff are getting punished? MAN!!
CEOs only exist to make the most profit as possible for the least amount of effort for the shareholders. Thing is, they only care about making money in the short term, and have no consideration for the long term, since usually they just wanna hold the position for a few years at most, make some millions, and then move on to the next company to suckle from.
CEO's, while some are awful, many are just shareholder puppets. They are just yes men. If a CEO doesn't do anything he can to make them as much money as humanly possible, then they will put somebody else in place who will. Shareholders don't play these games. They only want money. They will squeeze a company dry and move on to the next.
It's funny how WB and Rocksteady assumed that we were ready to move on from the Arkham formula when they could have easily milked that for years and years and we would have loved it.
Something I've been telling myself since 2022 is this; "If a game changes genres say story driven narrative to online exclusive or games as a service etc, the game will fail." This helped me avoid money wastage from not buying the new CODs
CoD was never a story driven narrative though...it's stayed very similar gameplay wise...it's the micro transactions and sbmm people don't like...but the game itself hasn't changed.
Eh what? Do you mean studio instead of game? In which case; let me direct you to Respawn entertainment, who went from making banger FPS games to banger ARPG's
You were wise to start thinking that when the rest of us started sounding the alarm years ago. Well done, and good on you. A solid internet pat on the back friend. 🖐️ or internet five. That works too.
Wouldn’t be shocked if this ends Rocksteady as a studio. I knew the second this was implied to be live service it was going to be a complete and utter dumpster fire. Just embarrassing.
It brings up the question: what would they do next? They could try to fix this game and slowly pull a Cyberpunk maybe, or they could ditch this game and start a new one from scratch. Both would require a ton of time, resources, and fan goodwill to allow them to recover, so I don’t see them surviving long. Maybe a year or a few years with a LOT of layoffs. This isn’t worst case, but it’s closer to worst case than it is best case scenario.
From what I’ve heard the original developers left the company during this game’s development. Sefton Hill started a new studio with the others that left.
@@bencarlson4300 the thing about Cyberpunk (I've played it and platinumed it) is that its story was spot on the you can earn every cosmetic in the game the only microtransaction is a dlc which is amazing but doesn't ruin the story if you don't have it and the gameplay is genuinely fun while this is a complete dumpster fire of money hungry corporation bullshit

The reason Harley murdering Bats was SO bad, is because he has actively been trying to help her. She was a victim and Bruce wanted to save her. My favorite people are this game’s defenders: “You’re overreacting just because this game is intended as a deliberate insult to you and the things you love”
Always makes me laugh, that one. They deliberately set out to insult you, so if you're insulted... you're wrong? But if you weren't insulted and you liked it, that would mean they failed.
To be honest, as much as I dislike this game. Some people exaggerate, this game isn't a deliberate insult. It's just an expensive live service game with repetitive gameplay, disappointing boss fights and a story that could had been done better. But calling it a deliberate insult is just exaggeration.
I've never understood that line of reasoning. Why would an entity that derives its income making 'things you love' intentionally commit hærəˈkɪrɪ by denigrating the thing their customer loves? Nothing more than mental gymnastics concocted by Simps that have zero concept of constructive criticism.

It is that simple. And the executives (usually the only guys in these companies who have a basic understanding of economics) know nothing about Batman, comics, or video games. They just demand a live-service game based on a popular existing franchise that they can milk as much money as they can for a decade; they neither know nor care about the story
And the fact that a “consulting firm” called Sweet Baby worked on the game. That’s a huge red flag. If you ever see a game and Sweet Baby mentioned together then stay away from that game at all costs.
I think a big factor in the creation of this game is the fact that because media has become so over saturated with superhero content it has become "cool" to hate superheros. That's what I thought exactly "This can't be that rocksteady" The one that gave me such good memories. Even right now I still have Arkham knight installed and still play it sometimes even after finishing 6 times. I guess we should call it rock-not-so-steady anymore
I don't consider this game to be canon in the ArkhamVerse. It's not just a personal statement but also a logical one, cause there's no way things would've ever went the way it did in the story, not as long as batman was there.
I think my biggest thing that makes me sad is that this wasn’t what rocksteady initially wanted to work on. They pitched other ideas first but all were rejected, so eventually this game was pitched and it’s rumored that rocksteady not only wanted to make this game but had creative freedom with the story as well as gameplay loop and mechanics. Rocksteady was PROUD of this game and it’s story, which I find saddening if true. The original rocksteady truly is gone.
One of those pitches was Superman. Can you imagine the original Rocksteady team making an open world Superman game? It would have been so frickin cool. Sure, they may have had to nerf the Man of Steel a bit because he is so powerful, but that's okay, being able to fly at ultra speeds around Metropolis and beyond would have rocked.
I'm just tremendously disappointed by what happened with Batman. Genuinely hurt by this. Batman is one of the characters that has always meant the world to me, and this treatment he received is awful. (I don't give a damn if he's "not dead", that's not the point)
