What the Pet Cloning Industry Won’t Tell You: The Dark Side of Cloning Your Cat 

I had no idea pet cloning existed. These companies are completely predatory and sadly some people may fall for their manipulation. There’s so many other cats and dogs that need homes and affection. I hope this never becomes the trendy or the normal.

Thank you for bringing light to this horrible industry and thank you for mentioning that there are many cats who already need homes. You are a good man.

One of my cats just died this week. She was 4 and seemingly healthy but the anesthetic stopped her heart and they couldn't revive her. It was a shock and I miss her terribly but even if I had the money, I'd never consider cloning her. Even if I could ignore the suffering that the process entails (which I can't), I wouldn't be getting the same cat back. She's gone and nothing, including cloning, will bring her back. Instead, I'm going to honour her life by fostering other cats for a local rescue, like she was fostered when she was a kitten. I'll be helping cats who need it and perhaps in time I'll find myself another loving companion who gets along well with my remaining two.

Obviously, I remember Dolly as I’m old! WOW, you've enlightened me, not that I'd clone any of our cats, because they're gone and remembered as they were. The money for this is crazy! And yes there are plenty of cats that need homes TODAY and we don’t need an cats cloned… Thank you

Thank you for talking about this topic. The pain of loss can make you vulnerable and wish so much for things to be different. You have to work through the grief though. You can also love more than one animal just like you love more than one child or parent. There are so many cats that are being put down every day, not just talking about feral ones either. My two were found on the street as strays too and are beautiful. It's even easier from a shelter as are already around people, desexed and vaccinated.

Thank you for putting this out there. I used to work as an Animal Protection Officer and it would break my heart everyday to see perfectly loving kittens through to senior cats that were euthanized daily. Not only just cats but dogs, rabbits, birds, and yes, even reptiles. All with great personalities but euthanized because there is no more room at the shelter or they were senior pets, when their owners passed away, that don't get adopted as quickly as the younger ones. Don't be fooled by the tagline "no kill".

If one just uses common sense, well for those having it anyways, you would understand that cloning your cat is not giving your cat back AND it's also very disrespectful to your cat! Your cat is an individual, just like us humans. When we take farewell, it is really a farewell. Value the time you had, morn the loss. But also open your heart for a new life, individual, in your life!

Soulless, heartless, fully based on animal and vegetal suffering, and exclusively money-driven... It's called modern "science"! Thank you so much for sounding the alarm! 👍💖

Thank you for this great public service video! As much as l wish l could reproduce the most special cat 🐈 in my life. I would never go through with what you described. I imagine the cats they use for these purposes have poor quality of life, and with so many kitties in need of homes at shelters there is no justifiable reason l could think of cloning.

WOW! There are so many cats and dogs out there that need loving. Death is painful, but 100% natural.

Its not natural to cling to life. Or anything, for that matter.....

I'm just horrified by learning this! And what about the genetic age? I mean, Dolly was genetically just as old as her clone when born. I doubt if these cats will have a long or healthy life!

That's why sanctuaries like mine can't find homes for cats that are in need. Personally I find this selfish. There are so many cats out there that need homes, and instead of giving them a home, these people go out and pay thousands of dollars to clone their cat and the ones that can't find homes end up getting euthanized. We live in a world that doesn't make sense anymore.

That’s expensive to do that for cloning the cat. Why not jist adopt another cat similar to the one she lost or adopt it. Some animal shelter offering no payment just pay them paper fee processing. Why go to the cloning industry
