Nine Lives To Live is a channel about improving the lives of your house cats.
Many of us keep our cats inside to keep them safe. But inside a house, or apartment, cats miss the natural stimulation of the outdoors, which can lead to boredom and behavior problems.
This channel shares ways to improve the quality of life of your kitties, from play to food to grooming to cat communication. We hope you find some ideas and answers in these videos.
This channel is only possible with the help of my three cats: Calypso (shy but demanding), Skyfall (talkative and friendly) and Mr. Muffin (the king of the household).
I love how you used your own footage of your own cats with expert editing to demonstrate the various points you so deftly elucidate. Thank you for this excellent content.
Fyck all of this. Meaning that thousands of cats live in their neighborhoods without all of this & find their way back home. You all who jail confine them are mean & cruel. And fyck those screened in cages. And as fir the 🐦 🐦⬛ s? How come we still have them, though you'll use the excuse for bell collars to save them.. So that's part of nature. Been doing it since the beginning of time & gosh I see birds 🐦 🐦⬛ out there... 😮OH my & you do too. Lock them up with all your excuses is b. S hit. Lock yourself up.. Is this better what was mentioned? No . Cats learn instinctively early on how to protect themselves. To avoid the cars, trucks, ect. What a mean shame you all take away from the cats 🐈 natural ways to justify it & say it's good. B. S hit.
I wash their bowls every day? My cat doesn't want to eat? I took him to the vet, and they took X-rays he said that he has poop back up but is going down slowly. They gave him medication but still not eating. Will be taking him back to the vet tomorrow. He lost a lot of weight?
I have a cat that decided to leave the neighbor and come live with us (we talked with him amd he was ok with it 😊) She has always been an outside cat, she has been fixed and vaccinated. She likes it that way and Im fine with it. She does have a very warm house for winter amd she uses it. So, cats can live outside and be just fine 😊❤
I wish more people talked about how vet visits can bring disharmony to multi cat households because they come back with different smells! My cat was in hospital for two days and when he was back home his own sister, bonded since birth wanted nothing to do with him. It hurts me to watch and I am reintroducing him back to the family slowly like a new cat. I just want peace with my happy cats again! (TT)
I don't care what my neighbors think. They are all overweight and in poor health and would benefit from walking around town with or without a cat stroller. What are you in high school still trying to win a popularity contest. I just want to know which stroller to buy.
To be fair Jackson Galaxy said to ask your vet first (as you mentioned) but also that it was from his personal opinion, however as he said we have to decide ourselves. Yes he knows a lot about cats but not everything, plus each case is different. Personally after watching Jackson’s video I decided to at least try step by step and look for more infos. I would rather have a vet doing it (I barely have any money but my cat’s life is priceless) but when I heard about the anesthesia I was like « nope ») but still after watching your videos I think I made the right decision. I also heard cats have a lot of teeth problems especially in their older days (and just like us it can attain even their heart)
I started using pasta bowls and pie dishes for water. My cats love to drink from these. The pasta bowls are ceramic or porcelain and the pie plates are clear glass and fairly cheap. I recently tried a fountain and only the kitten uses it. The older ones still want their big low water bowls. Freeze-dried treats will help to encourage more drinking than standard crunchy treats and they are healthier too. Very expensive though. Also my cats drink spring water, like I do. I never give them tap. I feel spring is likely to closest they will get to "natural water" without the junk. I buy the water for myself anyways. I get bottles and they get jugs I keep in the fridge. They seem to love it cold and fresh! One jug is usually enough for a week so it isn't expensive.
I always wondered why they get stuck in trees. You explained it very well. Also bc of this video, I got a floor to ceiling tower for my kittens and have it next to my hutch so they can jump on the top. I also am now planning a cat walk like yours as well. So far- they are going nuts on the floor to ceiling tower and jumping on the hutch. U also gave me the great idea to put the cat steps on the side of my hutch - I’m a renter. Ty so much for all these videos! I was afraid to catify bc I’m renting but now I’m excited and am Finding ways to be able to do it with minimal holes in my walls
I’m so so so tempted to get my cat a stroller. But he’s just so shy and nervous about ANY thing new. I’ve been trying all year to get my cat to enjoy just being outside, but I have to keep him on a harness as we live in a condo and I can only take him out to the nearest grassy area on the property. He always ends up walking back to the door wanting to go back in. I am thinking a stroller would be better cause he’ll feel more in “his own space” while still being outside. But again, I want him to genuinely like it. I don’t want him running away each time the stroller comes out. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and try it for him
I use mine to take my cat to the vet it’s only a 10 minute walk away but I can’t carry a cat basket because I’ve got osteopenia so too much for my back. I’ve never had any problems with putting him in it in fact he loves it he likes to look around and I know he feels safe in it.
We used five foot welded wire buried a few inches and a 3-foot welded wire top (along with rope above that to keep out deer). I surrounded our entire 2 acre yard with this, and made various wire tops on all the gates. Only one out of 8 cats over 25 years was able to escape (or wanted to escape, since they're basically living in a cat paradise). It's cheap, but takes some work. And you have to be on the lookout for woodchucks burrowing under (in our area at least).
Had a cat removed from life cruelly when I was 14, by boys I went to school with. I'm 72 now. Never got over it. None of my cats since have ever gone outside. All but 1 was a stray and they all adapted beautifully to being indoors only. Really like the idea of a catio.
I have a 10 year old cat. I found her as a kitten and she has moved with me twice, she goes out when ever she wants too and has never gotten lost. Cats are not stupid.
After watching a lot of Jackson Galaxy, I shared this video with my husband and he plans to do this in our house! We plan to adopt cats soon and we want to make sure they have a good way to escape our younger kids.
For the cat’s sake, please avoid spot-on treatment. It’s a neurotoxin. Try reducing the humidity of your home instead to below 50%. I can vouch that around 40% works very well.
I have 3 kittens, 9 weeks old, same litter when the play/ fight the bite each other and make a cry /mew sound.. I can't tell if its real or play.. They chase each other then ponce and tackle. Not sure if i should separate them or let the continue
Let them continue. Kittens are still learning boundaries and are being socialized by each other. If one acts too rough, the others stop playing, and kittens love to play. If one of them starts showing signs of bullying like hiding, not eating when the others are around or refusing to play at all, then you need to step in.
@@9LivesToLive Just glad to know you and kitties are doing well. Creating content can be exhausting--the video might play for 10 minutes but it can take an entire day to shoot and edit.
My four year old male ragdoll cat Oliver has never been a big eater, but over some months I've noticed he barely eats and sometimes vomits, he used to love his cat treats in bed but he seems to be going off them aswell. I told the vet some weeks back but they said he looks healthy enough not lost weight, but i can clearly see he has lost some now. He drinks water okay, I've three other ragdolls, all my cats are from the same breeder, all three seem fine except from my boy Oliver, I also just thought aswell maybe him spraying on the bin has something to do with him being sick, but he has been spraying for a couple of years even though he has been neutered. Im going to take him to the vets and demand some tests done, I cant go on like this it's breaking my heart he is my everything, I honestly don't know what I would do without him.😢
@9LivesToLive Thank you I've tried different foods etc but no luck, and i just can't shake the feeling that something is really wrong with him, I'm going to go to vets on Monday see what can be done. I just can't stop worrying about him he is my absolute world, been through alot of bad and good times with me. I will never give up on him.
@jennawallace4487 Yes, trust your instincts. Unfortunately, cats are very good at hiding illness, so sometimes it's hard to assess until a crisis hits and there is very little time.
Many cats will leave their yards for a variety of reasons that are bad for them and the neighborhood. All cats should be allowed a safe outdoor life, but only if they can be safe.
@@NeverUseAnApostrophe I have lived with cats all my life and let them in and our as they want, and they always have a very well defined territory space that they “create” as entirely safe. They are completely safe - the chance of something happening to them is likely greater if you force them in a confined space as they will become dosile and likely depressed, just as I would feel if only allowed to move around in a confined territory (even if proportionately larger, we would become crazy and ill). If you have a small garden it won’t be enough anyway and they will need to explore beyond it to feel normal. If the garden is very large they won’t leave it anyway as they will have enough territorial space.
