As a former NYPD lieutenant with over 20 years of street experience and street encounters plus dignitary protection certified. I must say this was a colossal failure in communication between the agencies. And the initial cops who confronted the shooter should have stop, questioned, and frisk the suspect and communicated with the secret service to hold trump’s stage presence. Until Suspect was investigated.

How could a building only 130 yards from Trump's position be "outside the security screening area"?? That couldn't be right. This man says that the shooter just walked to the building with a rifle after visiting his car.

Something doesn’t make sense here. They say the counter-snipers were watching him watching them but he didn’t have a gun at that time. They told police who went up to roof and ducked when he turned on them with a gun and then he started shooting soon thereafter. If the counter snipers were watching him, why didn’t they see when he first brandished the rifle and take him out at that time?? Something is off here!! If counter-snipers saw him before he was brandishing the rifle, they would have seen him when he first brandished it and then should have taken him out. No way they would have taken him off their radar before he was removed from roof. Either this info is off or something is rotten in Denmark.

Wow! This explanation is so weak. Civilians on the ground CLEARLY saw a rifle and so many were screaming this out to police and secret service people. Now we are supposed to believe that the SS sniper is having a casual conversation regarding two people looking at each other through their scope and range finders? There is a detail that this doesn't explain. How did the snipers not see the RIFLE when the shooter was pointing it at the police officer who came up the ladder? All of this just isn't believable.

He never went through security. He was spotted OUTSIDE the metal detectors at the entry checkpoint, with a rangefinder, and acting in an atypical manner. Security/law enforcement started following him as he walked away, but lost track of him. The next time they heard anything about him is when he was noticed on the roof. As for how he got on the roof--there are several small sheds in that building complex, short enough to climb but tall enough to make getting to the roof simple enough. Depending on how far in advance he started preparing for this, he could have even stashed a ladder in the area (or even his weapon) to simplify access and avoid the suspicious appearance of carrying it around. There's still a lot of gaps that need to be clarified...last I heard, there was a lack of clarity about whether responsibility for securing the buildings was the official domain of Secret Service vs local law enforcement (both are claiming the other was responsible for securing that area). If that confusion was actual, as opposed to finger-pointing to shift blame, it answers a lot of questions about how he was able to make it to a rooftop that close to the event.

How many times did he have to say that the shooter didn't go through the security check and she still ended the segment with shocking details, how did he get his "scope" through the security. The real question is why did he want to put himself in a position that security would see him using a range finder. Was he trying to get caught? Was he hoping to create a distraction? Seriously there would be zero reason to use a range finder from a spot you weren't even going to fire from, so why would he do it? How did they manage to lose him in the crowd when he should have been stopped and questioned for having a range finder.
