An important factor that you don't touch here is that sixpack-lean is not the same for everyone. Not everyone gets a sixpack at the same bodyfat percentage because not everyone holds the stubborn fat in the same place. Also people function optimally at different levels so while two people might have the exact same fat to muscle ratio, they could be feeling completely differently from eachother.

Ive been wanting to get into shape for a long time. I have only started 4 days ago. The reason for this alongside the obvious fat man syndrome is that I was so confused about WTF I should be doing. I needed someone who was direct and honest and I could tell immediately. Once I had that guidance I found some other well regarded voices that echo what you say also. Now I have a plan. I'm starting by loosing weight (FAT). I have a long way to go and I'm no longer embarrassed to say I don't have the money for plans/PT's etc. I'm not ashamed that I feel like shit/look like shit and that has deeply impacted my emotional state. I feel ok with all of that because I finally have some F'ing hope I can actually fix it for the first time in my life. Now I just need to do more research and fine/tune and get on with it. @@cryptocsguy9282 At my current weight, I can't handle weights nearly as heavy as if I'm up closer to 155 lbs. and I really need to be focusing on the weights and backing off of the cardio if I'm going to get that heavy. I have a very light frame, so that's near the top end for me. We also have a finite amount of ability to recover from physically strenuous activity and, if I'm running 30-40 miles/week, I just can't hold as much muscle, nor would I want to due to the strain on my joints and connective tissues.

I've never been able to maintain a six pack for a whole day! Lol. Pretty much every January after eating crap at Christmas I go on a mission to get in shape for my easter beach holiday. I get in great shape strength and fitness wise. And by the time I go away when I wake up in the mornings and I have a six pack. But by the time I go bed and am hydrated with a belly full of food it's gone lol. I'll get up the day I go on my holiday. Have a fry up at the airport and a few beers. Some sweets on the plane (well I am on my holiday and I am gonna enjoy myself). And that's the end of the six pack as I'll eat high calorie salty food and drink alcohol all week, so no one ever gets to see it. When I get back from that holiday probably 6/7lbs heavier than I went I start the whole process again for my next holidays in July and October before hitting Christmas and starting the whole cycle over again! So basically I have a six pack which no one ever gets to see for six hours a day maybe 9 weeks of the year.

To give a bit of a different perspective: I've been my most shredded 2 years ago and while yes, comparatively skinny, I still look back at that time and that body fondly. The amount of vascularity and muscle separations I had were unmatched and my usually puffy face looked chiseled. My shoulders and triceps looked ridiculous in a cutoff shirt and the loose skin on my legs, butt and stomach from going from obese to normal looked the least bad it has ever looked. It's also the time I received the most compliments for my arms and my physique in general. I don't quite know how lean I was back then, but given the typical exaggerations of leanness when guessing, it was probably more like "only" 10% whereas now I've been hovering between roughly 15 and 23%. And I have to say, despite wanting to "feel healthy" and "get bigger", there's still nothing that interests me more than getting back to that shredded level and feeling again what I outlined above.
@Dominicus13

I feel that. I am currently bulking and started out super skinny but no muscles. There was a small window where I had visible abbs and now I have gained just enough weight they are hardly visible. @Killicon93
@Killicon93 10 месяцев назад
I feel ya. Relatively skinny, but in decent enough shape. But back in 2019 I was really tight shape. Like abs visible through the shirt level of lean when I had a pump. However I lost the flow of keeping myself in that shape when I moved from my parents place, got nearly killed by some mystery infection and I had pretty bad air quality in my first apartment (which messed with my sleep). Didn't help that the issues caused by the brain fog I had from an infection lowering by blood cell count and nights slept with a stuffy nose got chalked up to laziness. And then COVID hit and that didn't help either. Thankfully I didn't get fat from the following depression and I have now been finally getting my mojo back and ironically I have a much better body image now. But I think that my ADD really benefited from the habits I had when I was around 10% body fat and it might have also kept in check a very mild form of apnea I've suspected myself of having (which greatly worsens ADD symptoms). That and I'm curious of how how this version of myself who sees his 15-17% functional cardio shaped body in the mirror and goes "nice" would react to seeing an ottermode physique in the mirror again. Well that, plus that the attention I got back when I was slim but shredded was friggin wild.

I’m really glad the RU-vid algorithm has introduced you to me, bruv I would ask why more people haven’t exposed these truths but I already know the answer… There’s not enough money to be made in the truth But it doesn’t change the fact that you are one of the only honest voices in this industry Thank you for that

I know someone in good shape, pretty lean without a six pack, and was diagnosed with a heart condition called premature ventricular contraction. The condition is pretty common, and in some people it is so mild they do not even realize it, the problem lies in how many you have per day. It can lead to shortness of breath, fatigue, and chest pain. After talking to people and doing some research he learned that people who are really lean are more prone to get this.

It's great to get a video confirming my direction for the last 5 months (even if it does suggest my phone listens to my conversations about this topic as this video was presented to me.) I'm 62, I've been training most of my life. My optimum condition was a lot leaner back in the day of a rugby winger. Kung fu training workouts also contributed to a good physique. The first 3 years of weights I looked the best. I gained about 5kg. Training natural with weights for the next many decades never yielded the bigger version of me with the same leanness. So I finally listened to my inner whisperer after many decades and am getting rid of the useless bulk. Training an 8th of what I was doing in a week. I'm getting a new picture of myself that I'm liking. Obviously muscle memory from all those years is making this journey really effortless. I guess I'm also viewing this from the other side and getting leaner, but the conversation I feel is just get the balance right. Training and eating program. A pleasant, fun and attainable goal for yourself is really more relaxing. Also don't put a short time frame on it. Give it 8 months or a year. I'll check out more of your content for more tips 😊

I'm happy just to have lost the keg, and I've found a happy place where I can keep improving my performance bit by bit (first ever Half Marathon last weekend), and really have no desire for a six pack. I just love cake too much.

I’m in generally good shape all year round but not a shredded six-pack type. I hired a nutrition coach so I could find get into “super hero shape”. I learned a ton and have taken my overall nutrition to the next (healthier) level, but I noticed trying to eat “clean” all the time is not sustainable for me. And I accidentally cut carbs too low for myself at one point and I was so depressed/no energy until I figured out what I had done. I’m also 100% natural…and not 6 ft+ tall. Now I just eat better, train hard and am happy with the results I have. The Hollywood guys and gals get paid the big bucks for a reason.

What a sensible man and the first one I’ve heard on RU-vid. I live with two of my daughters, who practice this shit. Workout twice a day - go for a weighted walk - weigh their food. Have they got jobs? Hell no, they’re too f****** ill to work. At 24 and 21 they are screwed and that’s down to the fitness industry and being wrapped up in social media! I train everyday - have done since I was 15 and now I’m 55. They say I’m fat and big and overweight - I’m 5ft 6 and 61 kg - size 8/10. It’s easier for men to obtain a six pack, granted but, for two young women, who now weigh 39 kg, it’s soul destroying. 😢

I absolutely loved this video. It is so true. We also need to mention that many of those so called influencers are on the juice, so they get super big and super lean because of the gear. Most of us won't ever be able to achieve that.

I'm a rower and I know exactly what you're talking about. I can get down into "super lean" territory. But, when I do, I feel like pressed shit. Zero energy. I prefer to just load myself up with carbs, have a little subcutaneous fat, and feel like I can walk through brick walls.

I lost 50 pounds in 6 months. It took another 4 months to lose the last 8 pounds to be 10% body fat. I took a ton of photos. My arms looked scrawny and my chest looked flat. So now I’m starting over trying to bulk for bigger arms this time. That’s the game

As an old man of 59 I drink beer on the weekend. Eat whatever I like, but in moderation. I train harder than most young men I see in the gym. I am 185lbs 47" chest 34 waist (ideally should be 32). I only know these measurements as I've just had a suit made. I train my legs heavy as these are what will see you through in later life. I do inverted sit ups at the end of every training session at home. Which is 6 times a week. I am not bothered about a six pack anymore, but when I tense it's there. If you want to get a six pack just train your Obliques. I also row for cardio and like to do press ups most days as well. It just becomes part of everyday life.

It's a hard one, because majority of girls I meet and say I go to the gym always reply with "Oooo have you got a six pack then??" It seems to be the thing! Don't care about arms, chest, legs, just the bloody six pack!
