I do not believe that Paul committed suicide. I believe that his girlfriend had another guy either a husband or a boyfriend but. I believe that, that guy came home and caught them. And Paul took off, that other guy followed him and was the one that killed Paul, and not knowing that Paul was left handed placed the gun in his right hand. Not thinking that he had just shot him one the left temple of Paul's head. So, tell me, How could a left handed person shoot themselves in the head and then put the gun in the right hand. ( I had heard that the gun was laying on the seat of the car to the right of Paul.) So, that would be amazing to still be alive long enough to switch hands or even just put the gun on the seat to his right after having shot himself......🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

I always thought that Paul was murdered! A few years ago, I read somewhere they said s white woman was in pauls car on the night he was killed! Somebody took Paul life, for whatever was to come! The best singing Temptations was: Paul Eddie David Melvin Dennis Richard Olie Ali Woodson Otis That music business can make you or break you! I loved Paul's vocals! I've often wondered about his death. Let's be clear, it's totally possible it could've been suicide. The gun being in the wrong hand, while odd, does not necessarily mean he was killed. I get the impression that in his last days there was a lot of tension between him and the group and maybe they wanted to move him out of the way. There could have also been industry politics within Motown that he didn't agree with. In the Temptations miniseries, they throw little hints in. Like for instance, he seemed to be against the direction the group was going in in terms of the type of music they were making after Shelly came onboard. He seemed like he didn't care to appeal to a larger white audience and wanted to keep the authenticity of the Black audience. Makes you wonder about whether or not they "sold their souls" and maybe he couldn't deal with it and maybe that's why he turned to alcoholism as a coping mechanism. Maybe they were afraid he was going to start talking and someone took him out. That seems like a stretch though.

I know they aren’t sure about exactly what happened but my ex lady friend had sickle cell and the things she went through was so terrible and heartbreaking that I could understand if he chose to go out his own way. Especially since in 1973 they didn’t know much about it and being it’s only melonated people that can have it, I’m certain at that time they really wasn’t trying to figure it out. My lady friend passed away in 2022 at the age of 47 and it had her in and out the hospital her entire life, and I know alcohol would have been a no no.

It’s no way he could have continued to go at that pace and travel and perform with sickle cell, his body would have shut down sooner then later. Just travel was probably hell on him, so I believe he left the group because of health reasons. Especially back then.

Surprisingly he wasn’t hooked on pain pills because that’s all the doctors can really do for you. Now they have a few things were you can drain your blood and restore it and they are hoping it will help cure sickle cell or either make life expectancy longer.
