Our F1B boy, Chester, came 95% potty trained from the breeder. Don't know if we just got lucky or they actively trained him. They are "real" breeders, having several dogs. He's 4 yrs old now. The hardest part for us was getting him not being terrified of the doggie door. In case anyone cares, our breeder was Diamond Country Dogs in Belleville KS. It was about an 8-hr drive for us to get there, but so worth it. I have no financial stake in them - truly am just a satisfied customer.
The Crate training that’s explained in this video is exactly what you should do for a dog that lives in an apartment, crate your puppy when you’re not playing with them and teaching them , when you take them out of the crate carry them out of your apartment building and to an appropriate place on the sidewalk after they void their bladders or bowels give them high praise. Now they can be free in the apartment until you water or feed them again then you crate them and 30 mins later carry them outside again rinse and repeat. When they are old enough to hold their bladders and bowels they will be perfectly apartment trained.

@@gabebollinger on average to keep a Afghan hounds hair very long you'll need to groom them 2 to 3 times a week that's 180 dollars a week in California. If you time's that by 4 it equals 720 a month. Plus we feed our dog a raw diet that costs us 320 each month. Plus we buy him treats. He's in agility classes. He has a trainer. All of this adds up. I've had greyhounds before this Afghan hound. The Afghan hound takes the cake, the pie and all nine yards. These dogs are SMART. They are elegant to look at. They seek approval from their masters. They are just like owning a very large cat.
Sounds awesome, would recommend grooming him yourself so that you don’t have to spend so much but if money’s not a problem I guess you could take them to the groomers every time they need to be brushed.
One thing to add, when they pee in the house or outside where you don’t want them to continue using, clean with a spray that removes the pheromones. This will keep them from going back to the same spot and your house from smelling like dog urine. Cleaning with household cleaner is not enough to remove the smell, atleast in my case
Man, my F1b is almost a year old and I’m still having a horrible time getting her potty trained. She was potty trained for about a week or so and I happen to find a stray dog and I brought him in for a few days and ever since then she has not wanted to go outside the bathroom, she goes out and does nothing. I have lost all hope in getting her trained 😭😭😭
