That is so true. I only really started making development progress after I started designing the PROCESS in addition to the game itself. Meet in the middle indeed.
Hi Lazy Devs, greetings from Brazil! Great video! I´m making my first commercial game all solo in my free time and while it is fun, it also is hard as hell. But I went to a few gamejams for 5 years before and I also work in webdesign for 18 years (quite similar to making games: the structure, bug checking, having to find a way to solve the problems that appears from time to time, having to plan ahead to avoid doing unnecessary work, teamwork and communication) and as freelancer artist.
I'm so glad I discovered your channel from the pico-8 breakout tutorial (you're an incredible teacher).. When I first saw Eizouken I got this huge inspiration rush to create.. From the little experience I have doing games I related to the characters in a very personal way and got very emotional, this video brought back those memories. Thank you for your content!
Saaaame, it's nice to see the two mediums (animation and game development) sharing certain stuffs. Guess it's expected, but still therapeutic regardless.
I really like this branching out into other territories outside of game development (while capturing loot and insights for it). Loving the new content (and higher frequency, keep it up!)
Glad to hear! Always a bit risky to branch out. You never know if you're gonna alienate folks. But I thought it would be nice to experiment a bit before we're be back to good old Game Development videos.
I hope you don't see it as competition, but due to your channel, I started a channel of my own to teach programming through game development, focused on Portuguese speaking audience. It's been a rough couple of months, and I barely have an audience whatsoever... But, hey! let me buy you a coffee one day!
@@LazyDevs I lack motivation sometimes due to not having proper feedback... But I am focusing on making the channel more professional and approachable, so my next live will be like a fresh beginning on the concept!
12:31 Is it weird that I find that face Asakusa makes in that scene to be weirdly cute too 😅? Although to be fair, most of the expressions Asakusa makes tend to be good cute profile picture material anyway 😅🤷♂️.
Nicely done analysis 👍. I guess Eizouken shows off how making and selling things in an industry works more than I expected. Also... 14:51 Why must you remind me of that unfortunate fact 😭😩? I hope another season happens someday. The manga still going on and the anime getting popular enough for reruns in Japan show that it could be a possibility. Although I wonder when’s the best time for that. As the anime adapted 3 out of the 6 volumes worth of material out at the moment, making me wonder if there’s even enough story in the current unadapted chapters for another season. And the director, Yuasa, left the studio that made the anime adaptation not too long after the season ended. So my guess is that it might take a while for another season to happen. Cool video still 👍!
What an intriguing subject for an anime! Plus I never would have thought kids still in school would have time to work on an anime project but I guess it's about scale.
Heheh, well that part is a bit unrealistic. They do adress it by showing how they work on the animation during classes. But even then, it‘s a lot of work for such a small team. It‘s an anime about ideas and lessons, less about real, practical production.
@@LazyDevs OH yeah, sorry, it was kind of a gut reaction for me posting it right away ahaha, I adore it so much. If Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken speaks to me on a technical production level, Shirobako does so in career paths
@@cesardoga When I finished Eizouken I was on such a high. I needed something to keep going. Some people suggested Shirobako. And it wasn't Eizouken. But in a good way. I think both shows compliment each other quite nicely. Because Shirobako is so realistic and industry-focused it's harder to draw analogies to game development. But also it's such a great behind-the-scenes view. I think about that show a lot.
