I have been stuck in elevators multiple times, and each time I thought it was going to be the end for me 😂 luckily now I’m here and not trapped in there
Very close friend is a dispatcher for an elevator company. You hit the button you get an operator, this operator will dispatch a technician to the location that assists the trapped passenger in exiting the elevator. If you would like the operator to call 911 they can but they do not automatically call emergency services unless there is indeed an emergency. Elevators have electronic and mechanical safety measures that prevent it from plummeting if you are on an elevated floor when your car stops. If all of these failed those big springs at the bottom are made to dampen the fall so although you will get seriously injured you could more then likely even survive if everything failed. Your biggest concern when trapped in an elevator is if you have to use the restroom.
It happened to me once and I was in there for an hour and a half. It was a blessing though because it was at an event that I didn't want to be at and I had the perfect legitimate excuse to miss most of it.
@@notkimjong-un3019 I was alone in the elevator at the time. I had a phone signal though so I just sat in the corner and waited for a while playing on my phone lol.
buddy if you are incapable of keeping calm in a bad situation that is something YOU need to work on. very valuable skill and if you actually focus on doing so it is quite easy.
@@bingchilling7519yes it’s one of the most important things to do in a bad situation but for some (most) people it’s extremely difficult as primal instincts kick in fight, flight, or freeze
TLDR: Chinese Lady was stuck in elevator. Died in it from starvation and die hydration. Wasn’t found for a month. I was stuck in an elevator for 14 hours at work. How do you get out and escape an elevator when no help is coming? There was a lady in China who got stuck in an elevator when maintenance had turned it off to begin doing maintenance on it. They didn’t bother looking to see if anyone was in it when they turned it off. Turning the elevator off was the last thing they did before they left work and wouldn’t be back until over a week later due to it being a Chinese holiday. They don’t open the elevator and look inside and finder until a month later. I got stuck once while I was working (was working during the weekend) I was an office mover and had an entire elevator full of furniture and boxes. A lightning bolt hit and I was stuck between floors. I was able to pry the doors open on my side and they did theirs. There was about 5 or 6 inches of an opening to the floor they were on so they were able to pass me some snacks and an empty bottle for me to use. I had to wait 9 hours for maintenance to show up and they were unable to get the elevator started. It was looking like they would need the fire department to come and cut me out when the elevator finally moved and let me out on the bottom most floor. One of the maintenance crew was able to get the elevator to move to the bottom floor, open its doors, and shut down there until the elevator company could come and fix it. I had been stuck in the elevator for 14 hours.
Then there's those establishments that WON'T send maintenance crew or even call firefighters despite one of the trapped occupants suffering a medical emergency.
Used to know a guy who swore he had a quickie with a woman he was trapped with. Both of them got to know each other a little, decided it would be a fun story, and went at it
I'm extremely claustrophobic so I would have a heart attack. I had to be put asleep just to get a MRI and I leave all the doors in my house open so I don't feel boxed in. I always take the stairs if accessible.
I was trapped in a elevated once and not one time did I look for a way out. And this was in 1979, it was actually older then that tho. And on Friday night. Janitor is why I was there. Got lucky tho they had just started the security officers inside and out of building. Got out early Saturday morning. lol. Stay calm stay alive.
Ok ima start taking the stairs. Its bad enough that I'm claustrophobic but if I get trapped in there I AM GOING TO PANIC. I will definitely have a panic attack.
It's very stuffy in there and theres always someone who starts to panic. They should store some edibles that the help desk can guide you to... seriously
Depending on local codes and how the phone was programmed, it might not dial the building's maintenance department and instead dial out to an emergency dispatch center such as 911 or the given elevator manufacturer's call center.
I was trapped, alone, as an 8 year old in an elevator. I called for help, but boy did I panic and cry. My parents didn't even know what happened, they were in there hotel room. When the fire department got me out, I was so inconsolable I found the first overweight woman (my mom was overweight at the time and I was so upset I thought it was her) and hugged her and cried into her. I don't even know who she was, didn't look at her face. Just saw her figure and thought "mom." Boy was I suprised when I found out it wasn't her.
In like the year 2000 I got trapped in an elevator for 20 minutes but I was alone and literally like 5 years old. It was traumatizing. Later I find out people have won millions in lawsuits for the same thing happening
Don’t worry if you’re stuck in it with me, I bring snacks drinks and random stuff in my backpack SOMETIMES.. but it’s all good. Can you bring your charge with you??
Been trapped in an elevator. Long story short it took 5 hours to get me out, I called for help and wound up just kinda falling asleep while waiting for help. Funny bit is I actually punched a fireman who opened the roof and saw me lying there motionless. Be careful when shaking awake a deep sleeper lol.
If I was stuck in a elevator (ground level) I would be cool as a cucumber, now if I’m stuck in a elevator (8 story’s) above ground I would panic a little bit.
I was stuck In an elevator as a baby and I don’t remember it but my body just goes into full fear if I’m in one, I dig my nails into my palms and stay In a corner until the doors open and I run out. Thing is my mum hates stairs cuz they make her feel dizzy and I don’t wanna go away from her. The only time I go down the stairs is when my grandad comes with us.
When I was 13 or 14 I was working with my dad (he delivers furniture) I was going back to the truck with his co-worker, the elevator required a key for literally everything, including the button to open the door, the doors automattically closed so we got stuck The co-worker ripped it open and said we needed a key lol
There is no readon for you not to pry the doors open. If you manage to do it. Hold the alarm button for 5 sec and the elevator will stay still until it has been fixed.
I was trapped in elevator once. It stopped for 1 or 2 seconds then it started move down to while I pushed higher floor. I thought I was gonna fail, but it started to go up again. After that time, I always get nightmares about trapped, fail, killed by elevator.
Not gonna lie 53 people getting injured and 5 people dying was a lot less than I thought it would take. Edit: i made a comment about this video before I finished it. Nothing like I thought it was going to b
I literally was just stuck in an elevator 3 stories hight and 5 firefighters had to pry the door open and It wanted to move on it’s own. I had to leave the things I had in there and I thank God I was not injured.
I actually once for stucked in an elevator The electricity suddenly got cut or something, the elevator fell like 6 floors or so, luckily the electricity came back.
I got stuck in an elevator a few months ago.. the emergency call button would make a call but it just rang and rang.. I was looking all around for those secret hatch doors on the ceiling but there wasn't one. On the ceiling there was this inset light fixture and I was running my hands along the top to try and find any hatch, but I found a pistol instead. It was the most ghetto firearm I have ever seen. The handle was wrapped in ducttape and looked like it was dragged behind a truck for a few hours. Luckily I had my cell and I called the fire department. They ended up having to break into the elevator.
