I'd love to hear you talk about sleepiness/dullness and the concurrent decrease in alertness as it relates to meditation practice etc some time 👍

Very interesting and subtle (point 3), I've been veering toward 'the witness of thoughts' in daily life without appreciating the 'I Am-ness'/oceanic-ness you describe here. I think natural meditation really has helped to start breaking this sense of separation and is beginning to cross-pollinate into 'daily life' more often. Just a report. Thanks for this juicy content Angello.

Yes. Very helpful to hear observation of “stepping back to evaluate” is what we do. And that “presence” is /can be part of the thought experience as “the light”. Not getting it fully across here. Just helpful. Thx.

Yup always helpful. It’s remarkable how you simply and gracefully unravel grace itself. Definitely grasped point number 3 a little as i know its everything and there is no observer, so just being with the thoughts and staying neutral about it because its all one anyhow and see how that flows. Not sure if i did justice there but eh, i love your golden nuggets that get dropped on the regular thank you.

I found this very helpful. The first one was very much my perception regarding good bad meditation based on how many thoughts. I’d love to hear more. I find it helpful to understand that the thoughts are images on the screen but the light or presence is the more important place to become aware of. We are light. That Whidh is illuminating the screen and our experience.

I have been meditating for about 75 days. What I was loving about it was that I could calm my thoughts and feel less stressed/anxious. Now I feel like I’m waking up every day feeling anxious to the point of feeling nauseous. I do two to three meditations per day trying to manage this anxiety. I felt like meditation was letting me feel wonderful, happy . Now I’m not feeling as good. I’m having a tough time quieting my mind. After watching this I guess I shouldn’t be trying to quiet my mind. I realize I need to keep seeing the stress/anxiety until it doesn’t make me feel anything. That I can separate my feeling and just sit and watch. Like watching a movie without the sound on? I’m confused and I just want to feel better.

You may be ready for inquiry (if awakening is what you’re after). I’m that case check out the awakening approaches playlist and the inquiry playlist. And/or read my book :)

I’m not sure I was ready to hear this before now but there is a part of me that wishes that I had heard it. This is incredibly helpful. I very rarely don’t have thoughts and when I do have those spaces, instead of feeling peaceful and free, as others often report, I can feel myself anxiously anticipating that thoughts are going to return. Having a way to see working with the experience of thought as a value is a relief, though I can tell from trying it a few times that it’s going to take some practice. The anxiety is quite conditioned but what’s the alternative? I went to a Zen Center for seven years, and I never heard any instruction to give some attention to what was experiencing the objects of meditation. Even after that, I have never been exposed to the kinds of delineations you present. Thank you! And I hope if you are ever working with individuals again, I may know of it.

Definitely helpful, as always! Any specific hints on dealing with internal music? I notice sometimes during meditation a random part of a song I don't even listen to will start looping and making it a hard time not to put my attention on it.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 3 года назад
Yes, look for the resistance pattern to it. Notice the thought (hidden in the view of the subject/you) that says, "that music shouldn't be here." This alone often relaxes the experience. You might find your attention can easily move into the music as another formation in consciousness. If it returns (the feeling of not wanting that music there), then look again for the view or belief ABOUT that experience. Often this will take several rounds to fully relax the polarity. The key is always be willing to notice the subjective pole that is associated with the sense of pulling back and observing/ Judging and then just notice it is one single thought :) Let me know how that goes.

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake A few minutes after originally reading your message, I noticed that this technique applies to ANY recurring thought, and I was undergoing a really strong wave of remorseful thoughts for over two days. As soon as I searched for the resistance, it dissolved away and I'm crying right now. Thank you so much; it helped me in such a bigger way than just the internal music, I have no words to express how much easier the path has been ever since being shown a video of yours. You sir, have my eternal gratitude.

The third point, leaning in. Very counter intuitive to how I’ve handle thoughts. I understand it intellectually. So is it in other words , accept them? Or not resist them?

Thank you brother, definitely helpful. Could I use this orienting towards everything in tandem with the allowing? When I look at the person I was before awakening, I was negating my very nature, due to feelings of uncertainty, but there is a sense that this orientation and allowing might dissolve these past tendencies and allow a much more free mode of being, free from self judgement and evaluation. I am bringing this into life, not only formal meditation, though I don’t draw a distinction between life and meditation.
@SimplyAlwaysAwake

Exactly! Where is the dividing line? At first we practice, then there is only practice. At sone point only. Life spontaneously coming forth as practice-enlightenment.
@flutiyama

I believe I have a similar experience! I noticed, after awakening, that I can allow myself to do things I consciously think are dissonant with the flow of "letting go", because as long as I'm being true to myself in doing that, a natural process ends up occurring where I satisfy myself up to a point where the impermanence and dissatisfaction of the activity become so obvious that the association with the activity disappears altogether. I actually stopped drinking sugary drinks and cooking meat at home by literally doing both to my heart's content, and eventually my heart contented itself without it.
@Mevlinous
@Mevlinous 3 года назад
@@flutiyama I see what you mean, basically burning out the seeking energy by seeking? Not exactly what I meant by allowing, as I was more referring to conscious experiences which would normally be driven unconscious due to aversion, but instead making a place in consciousness for those feelings. But basically seeing the unsatisfactory nature of desire. I can gel with that.
@flutiyama
@flutiyama 3 года назад
@@Mevlinous Let's see if I got the difference you're pointing here; you're talking about how you deal with the experience internally (allowing yourself to be conscious about stuff that you would do anyways, but would 'block' in a way by diverging conscious focus) while I was talking about allowing the activity itself to run without judgement, because dissatisfaction -> letting go turns out to be a natural consequence. Am I in the ballpark? Might be a good time to say English is not my native language :p

Does diet has any role to play in the shift from limited to formless?
@SimplyAlwaysAwake
@SimplyAlwaysAwake 2 года назад
In my experience no. However at later stage realization fixation on health, diet, illness etc (body vulnerability) often comes into play. It is one thing to realize you are not the mind, but to realize you are not the body... a very different kind of dissolution :)

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake thank you for your response. I asked because if it is all a random play of appearances, who is there to control any activity or how can there be a process to cause awakening or realisation through a process or a set of actions?
