Yea great memories and great wine! Definitely that wine tasting was one of the most positive and unexpectedly awesome experiences I’ve had for a while. Always great to try something new! Damn I miss traveling!
LoL. The gulyas is not that amazing? Yes! Bcause its something basic (!) hungarian stuff. Its not a food for kings with many many added things or fancy colors or somethin.. (btw a good chef can makin a really good one) And the langos? Again. Its not a main food, just something for eat. Its simple and uniqe hun stuff. Like fast food. Not all langos makers can making a good one. Also not good if contains on its surface too much oil. Dryer ones better. And hungarians never eat langos with lots of stuff on it (like a pizza) . This kind of (fake) langos is made for the tourists. Huns are eat simple and normal langos. Of course the shopper recommend you a pricier type. Chees, garlic, salt, and some sour cream (tejfol) . Thats all. No other things need! And. That crispy thing (teperto). Also a basic stuff. The crispy and light ones is the best. Hard to find a good one. Need some experiment to recognise which is good or bad.
Thank you so much for all the info. Really good to learn more because we really don’t know much about Hungarian food. I know there must be much better options available too! From what we tried, we loved all the Hungarian sausages a lot. Those were some of the best we’ve ever had anywhere. Obviously should try many other places to really know how good Hungarian food can really be!
When the people says the gulyas is the most famous beaf here its not mean this is the best food here. Just so popular because simple and good. Good if you work on a fields or work in the office or you are in your home and wanna eat. ( Not the best if you can see too much oil on it.) And if you wanna trying palinka, plz.. cmon.. dont play with it, dont smell it too much, just look into your friend eyes, and say: egeszsegedre and throw it down fastly! Be strong at this time. If too hot, drink a little coca-cola or something else fastly. I saw many many tourists who acting like a clown and makin wierd faces after they drunk it, or just put into their lips to try its tastes. Yes its strong stuff! Be strong, be fast, be man on your foot! Also you can try the Unicum. I think its taste simular to the jagermaister. And if you see anywhere 'y' in the words its not mean 'i'. Its will be one from these: gy, ny, ly, ty.. They two caracters but one when if you say. Example: konyha (kitchen) is not 'koniha' and király (king) is not 'kirali'. Also 'e' and 'é' is totally different.. But this is a nother story.. And plz try Hortobágyi húsos palacsinta and töltött káposzta . A really good food from Hortobágy area and the other one is also a popular stuff here. Dont miss them it.
