Worked for me. My wife found out I got scammed for odometer fraud 2 years later. We went to the dealers new dealership since the one I purchased my lemon at was closed. Told them they sold me a vehicle with the miles rolled back. I started leaving reviews online on there website next thing you know I get a call saying I will help you get in a new vehicle but I need you to take your reviews down. So now I’m going to get a different vehicle and return my lemon to the finance company. But I still have to pay the remaining balance for the lemon and the new vehicle will have the plates and registration ready. I feel like the remaining balance for the lemon is uncalled for since it’s odometer fraud committed.

I just bought a used car last week. Listed online as 74,437 miles in a 2011. I test drove from their 2d lot to their main lot, 5 min down the road When I parked I noted the odometer at 74,599 exact. I thought that was cool. The money was paid, on a Monday and the car was registered and insured in my name the next day Tuesday February 15 2022. When I went to pick it up on Friday, I left and noticed the odometer read 74,822!?. So I looked over all the paperwork again in a parking lot The 60 day/2500 mile warranty stated 74,822 The odometer disclosure said 74,437 The inspection report said 74,817 So basically, after the vehicle was reg and ins under my name, someone out over 300 miles on the vehicle! And they're cheating me out of the mileage on my warranty. So now I'm contacting my state consumer advocacy, response dept. You truly have to watch these people, they'd rip off their own mothers...

It was really surreal. I am so sorry! I went through a similar thing at the beginning of this week. I bought my first ever car (used Hyundai Sonata 2014) at a "reputable" dealership. I was told one price and charged another with a 17% interest rate. Found out now days later that the CV axel is trash and has put my life in danger while driving. I told them they must fix all issues I have with the car for free. It is currently at the dealership, hopefully getting fixed correctly. I didn't eat for four days, I was so stressed. I lost over 10 pounds. If they don't fix it, I am going to BBB.

Yesterday I bought a vehicle for my daughter and before I got home I realized the dealership basically pocketed my down payment. We got to a bottom line price of 17,404 OTD. We agreed to put $5000 down. She should have been financing 12,404. They started us out with the monthly payment in the finance office and it looked good. $324 for 66 mths…. I didn’t figure it out tell on the way home she was still financing over 17,000. The $5000 got lost in all the mumbo jumbo. I feel like a complete idiot and I failed my daughter I was there to protect her from such things. Is it illegal to pocket a down payment and not put it toward the financing of the vehicle ?

My fraudulent dealer situation made it to the dealership VP and their attorney. I met with them today. They were extremely apologetic, were terminating Finance Manager today, and offered me $9300 in writing for what happened. Finance Manager charged me additional $1000 to purchase my vehicle (lease buyout) at store level, which violated my original lease agreement price. I’m checking around if $9300 is appropriate or are they getting away too easily? They honestly seemed very kind to me and I don’t want to be greedy. But at the same time, the owner owns at least ten dealerships and just don’t want to be sold short. The nicer they were to me today, the more I sat there wondering just how badly are they in trouble if I continue moving forward with my case?

Hello Ray...I know this is an older vid of yours but I'll ask anyway. What if a car dealership does not disclose a vehicle sold to you has been in an accident(this happened to my mother btw). In the vehicle disclosure it states no recalls/no accidents reported. A certain insurance company is reporting the vehicle has been in one. This question stems from the vehicle in question being rear ended the other day and then trying to pursue a diminished value claim with said insurance company(which they want to deny due to it being in a previous accident). I'm currently asking for the proper paperwork from both the car dealer and the insurance company to see what they send me. Any sort of insight would be great on your part and thanks in advance! Also, carafe is reporting no accidents.

I experienced a similar situation years ago after buying a CPO civic. A few months after I bought the car I kept noticing non symmetrical body gaps around the tail lights. So I asked a buddy of mine to check it out and he found putty all underneath the body. I then took it to the dealership service department and asked them nonchalantly if my vehicle had been repaired by looking at the putty. They confirmed that yes the car had been in a severe rear end collision at one point judging by the gaps and such, also found broken glass on the rear dash. Well, I then brought it to the attention of the sales manager who couldn’t care less about my situation and tried to ignore me on the sales floor, real condescending prick. I then blew my lid and got removed from the dealership. No body cared and there’s wasn’t a whole lot I could do at that point. I ended up trading the car in a couple years later. Bottom line is, if it doesn’t show up on a car fax report or whatever the dealerships use to run a history on a vehicle, then they can basically wipe their hands of any non disclosed issues of a vehicle. But if I caught the repair evidence then there is no way it wasn’t discovered in the CPO inspection/certification. I must of dealt with that 5% he was talking about. 😅

@@wheelmanjh4067 I found that most car dealerships are filled with pimps thieves and ConMen. The only really respond to a threat from an attorney, which is what I had to do. I was also lucky that the judge awarded attorney fees to me as well so it cost me nothing out-of-pocket except some serious time which was a pain in the ass. Now I haven’t bought a used car in quite some time but if I ever do it’s going straight to a mechanic and then a body shop for an inspection prior to purchase because you just can’t trust those bastards….most of them anyway. I’ve also discovered the more expensive car you buy the better you’re treated which is really unfortunate. They must assume if you have some money you have a little bit of power and you’ll be able to pursue any issue you may have with them.

Hi Ray. I was meaning to comment on one of your more recent videos concerning leases ending during the COVID-19 pandemic. Well, my situation applies more to this video. I started leasing a 2017 Subaru Outback from the local Tucson Subaru dealership. I have the original contract which was signed in Aug 2017 and ends on Aug 26, 2020. I only recently found out that the Subaru Finance Company has my contract as 10,000 miles per year for 3 years however I signed my lease contract for 12,000 miles per year for 3 years. The sales rep and I specifically agreed to 12,000 miles per year for the 36 month term at the financing I easily qualified for due to a higher than average credit score. The actual lease I signed which I possess the customer copy clearly states 12,000 miles per year. How does this dealership think they can scam me. I don't take it lightly what they've tried to pull on me. The only reason I just now discovered this con on their part is because I received an email from Suabru Finance Company reminding me that my lease is ending soon and which options I may wish to explore. Once I signed into the webpage "personalized" for me, I immediately noticed is states 30,000 miles for the contract term. I'm outraged because this dealership and Subaru have given me the run around in my requests to terminate my lease based on faulty audio system which bluetooth, phone dial pad, and Pandora apps don't work consistently. This dealership is far from my house and I'm a single mom who acquired this vehicle while pregnant, yet I managed to take the Outback in 6 times for this audio/infotainment issue to be "fixed." The whole system was even replaced yet the problem isn't fixed and never will be. I filed a case with Subaru but they told me to keep taking it in to give the dealer and opportunity to "fix" the problem. I finally gave up taking it in because it's a major inconvenience and now we're in the midst of a pandemic. I don't want this Outback and want nothing to do with Subaru ever again. How should I approach this mileage scam they're pulling? Is this grounds to terminate my lease? I'm going to contact a Consumer Fraud lawyer tomorrow. I don't want to seem like I'm exaggerating yet this dealership puts on a facade that they value their customers' concerns yet they clearly have failed to value mine.

Some of this advice is spot on and some is not good. Yes, if you notice any post contract issues then don’t deal with the salesman or sales manager. Escalate it immediately to the GM or area manager if they have multiple dealerships. The higher you escalate the better and faster they’ll try to work with you to come to a mutual agreement. 100% correct in saying these guys are not pleased the employees below them couldn’t have resolved it themselves. I completely disagree with the statement that 95% of car dealers are legit, honest, and straightforward and wouldn’t slip something in on the deal. That’s complete BS. 95% are everything BUT honest and straightforward. However, you missed the most critical point in this discussion. It’s impossible to “slip anything in” because they can’t. The law says they must disclose and itemize everything they sell you. So in fact the most critical advise you missed is to pay attention when signing the contract. Take your time and READ everything. Literally every word and charge. They will try to distract you and rush you thru this process by talking and giving you lip service, but unless they commit straight up fraud with the contract which you need to take to a lawyer and nobody else, then you voluntarily agreed to everything in the contract and they’re not at fault for anything other than intentionally trying to distract you from READING THE CONTRACT and terms you’re agreeing to. Dealing with the Sales people is easy, you either agree to the price, trade-in, etc, or you don’t, and don’t be afraid to walk immediately. If you don’t agree to the price then the deal can’t move forward to the next step. The finance guys in “the box” in the next step is the only critical point where you have to pay attention. The second biggest purchase in your life next to buying a home deserves your full attention to detail and should be taken seriously or it will cost you bigtime.

Look on the back of the sales contract and you will see in very light gray print with many disclaimers usually including that any disputes must go to arbitration, not court. They will also say that any fitness of merchantability or purpose is not operative.

Just picked up my GMC 2500HD custom vehicle order. Traded in a vehicle and got a great price on the trade in. With the trade in I gave 15k extra for total of $27k down payment. My 3 credit scores were 809, 857, 860. I don’t understand for 72 months on those credit scores with excellent history, how my local GMC dealer brought up 5.29, 5.49, and 5.69 interest rates. I had to take the 5.29 because I was not gonna back down from almost 1 year waiting on the vehicle. Can I get back to the dealer and try to ask them to negotiate the APR or should I just refinance 1 month in with credit union?

Hey bud, so the dealership I bought my car from had told me I needed to buy a warranty in order for the loan to be accepted by the bank. This is illegal and my bank doesn’t care about the warranty, only the mileage. After researching reviews on this dealer, many other customers are being lied to about the warranty. How would I proceed with this?
@danaecole728

If the bank doesn’t care about the warranty it’s fraudulent. You can sue the dealer for that.

Also, you almost have a clear case in my opinion (I’m no professional). If you can get that win with the car situation (it would lead to a big settlement) depending on how impacted you were & regardless, that would take care a lot of financial hardships!! Maybe consider giving it all you got 🙃before filing bankruptcy. & however if you do end up filing, I would look into the process of getting bankruptcy removed off of your report through a credit specialist.

I bought a 2020 Jeep at the dealer near my house 7 days ago. The salesman told me to download the Lo jack app when I get home. I did. It says provide the pin # the dealer emailed you when you purchased the car. There is none. I tried to get registered with Carfax. When I enter my license plate# it comes up the car I traded in. If I put in the vehicle # to the 2020 car,it comes up this car is not in our system. Called,texted,phoned dealer 7 days . Non responsive by salesman, receptionist re directs me to , email box is full, please call back later, person your trying to reach is unavailable, or a busy signal. Any suggestions? Anybody?

Need help asap So I found a truck at a used car lot and it was $9995. I don’t have the best credit so I asked the salesman what would be the best way to go about this if I wanted to purchase his car he asked his boss and the boss says if you get $4000 down we can finance the vehicle so a couple weeks go by and I bring in $4000. I sign all the paperwork and they said they don’t have any finance yet but shouldn’t be a problem with the $4000 down so I signed the contract and nothing happens a week goes by and they give me a call and asked me about my insurance information and said OK great so about three weeks go by and I haven’t received any paperwork from the finance institute or the dealership stating that they’ve got me financing so I sit there and wait another few months go by and still nothing so basically the dealership didn’t give me finance and they have the title of the vehicle still now in my phone numbers haven’t changed my address hasn’t changed and nothing changed and it’s been about a year and a half now I’ve registered the vehicle twice because I had to get my handicap plates on there and also pay for registration now it’s been about a year and a half still and I want to trade the vehicle in but their name of the dealership is still on the title. Well I called Dealwrship and told them that I need to get the title and they said that Andrew wasn’t in but please bring the vehicle and so they can confirm it and it sounded kind of shady so before I bring the vehicle and I wanna get someone’s advice on this because I did everything I was supposed to do I didn’t receive any literature or MIL via finance Institute of phone calls and don’t you think the vehicle been Repo if I didn’t pay the finance company, so I’m not sure what to do with the legal restrains are and I don’t want to drive in his dealership in heaven say or we only vehicle when I get my money or anything like that what should I do I do again they said they only get financing and it looks like they never did my theory is they took the vehicle in for about 3500 bucks and then get in the 4000 in cash and let it be a swipe but now that I’ve called him I’m kind of worried about
