Why does nobody just tell the truth? There are no jobs in cybersecurity for people without experience. Even for people with good experience, it's hard to find a job. For people right out of school, it's a disaster and often takes years.
I graduated a year ago in information security and information systems. You would think it would be easy for someone with two degrees. That couldn’t be any further from the truth. I have about 2 years of basic IT experience and yet some random chick with only 10 months of work experience as a customer service rep gets hired in an apprenticeship offered by my school. Not only are my degrees useless for my school, but someone who is less qualified than me gets to have the job. Ain’t life amazing?! 😃

How about if you have a family to support.?? Also how about working in a data center,rack and stack or working as a NOC and then switching over to a SOC position?? This in a datacenter or ISP.
Definitely something i’ve been hearing about as well, I would really target companies that really value good cyber talent, especially government, defense contractors, finance,and cyber consulting companies, if they’re fully remote or based in a bigger city it’ll help bump the salary a lot as well as getting a good certification to negotiate with, good luck Elvis!!
Are you located in a good area? Hows your resume look? 3 years of exp in what exactly and are those skills applicable to the jobs your applying for? Try networking? Done any homelab stuff? What certs do you have? Is the pay your looking for reasonable based on your skill set? Have any clearances? Answer all these questions and you find a job
Just responded in your last email, but if you’re a comp sci major going into security, make sure you know what skills are needed for the job and that they’re added to your resume, always negotiate your salary with the skills/knowledge you’re bringing to the table, good luck Lakshan!
I tried getting my security plus the other day but I failed now and haven’t been able to get a job in cyber security and I have three cyber security jobs I need suggestions on where and what to do now
Hey Lakshan, thanks for watching! The average salary for cyber entry level is about $50k-60k a year, which is a bit higher than the median household income in the US, I have a vid on salaries here ( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wkQQind1Mkc.html ) but yes it’s definitely possible to get a very good salary just out of college or a bootcamp. Burpsuite?.. I'm sure it's a very good tool/framework but Burpsuite is a funny name.xD What was your reaction when you had heard about it for the first time?
LOL when I first heard of it, people referred to it by its shortname aka Burp, so yeah it can be kinda funny hearing pro hackers/red teamers using Burp for their day to day jobs but its super useful so you forget about the name after using it 😆😆
