I love the way you broke that down. I soooo need help with thr obligation part before my puppy starts in on his alpha stuff which he's already showing signs of....
My shih tzu KNOWS exactly 💯 what come home means. He waits until i yell get your ass in the house 😂 he wont even flinch when i call his name to come inside when he is not ready. I even have a samsung 2 tag on him. He will come 90 percent of the time when he hears the song... buuuutttt ooof that 10 percent gets us in a yelling match. His sassy butt grumbles and snorts and wont even walk near me or look at me 😂 brat
100% If your dog is in fight or flight, they’re not likely to Sit or Down no matter how solid those cues. You don’t care for a steak if you’re in fear for your life.

Okey, thats why. Now i know what the problem huh...
How do I get my Aussie to know he is obligated to follow my commands? He does ALL THE TIME inside, but once in a while when he finds something "better" (chasing another animal or run out to meet guests) then he ignores me. HELP! By the way, I LOVE how you explain things!!! So clear and very helpful! Thank you!!!!
Stimulation aka people, pray noise. Can all just simply be more important tab you. Or and most likely additionally you haven’t generalized the behavior, heal for expample is easier to do in the kitchen than it is to do with your friends, cars trucks birds rabbits other dogs. Around.
@@playssmart2286 Saying a dog knows how to behave inside and does commands inside, is like saying im excellent at public speaking i do it all the time in my bedroom at 2am. REAL world training is only thing that will solve this, start in yard, you mastered that fantastic, go to drive way master that fantastic, down the block and back good good good. Etc. All micros are what create your macro. The obligation is correction. If you say sit in public the dog does not sit, you must correct apply pressure say no sit. Holfing the dog liable for everything. If you say leave it, and they do not, you must pop the leash say no and repeat. If dog does not down, step on leash and pull it up ( so the dog dragged down ) etc. Every single thing you say to them you have to hold them accountable for it. And if you say leave it and they do, you now shower them with praise Dogs see in black amd white. You are living in the grey.
Its not him. He's probably needs more play time. If you're giving him enough play time it might just mean you need to start from the beginning. Back to the basics. Sit, laydown etc. Simple things. It takes time. My shepherd is a bit over a year old. It takes time. I know he ignores me on purpose. They are an extremely smart breed and have amazing personalities, but they are all trainable. Its all about being consistent with your training
@@lca89 Sounds like you're on the right track. Expect your pup to ignore you and test those boundaries from time to time, at least for a few more months to a year until he matures into an adult. His choosing to ignore you at one years old is completely normal. And you are 1000% correct, every dog is trainable, no matter the age.
My neighbor has always snuck my dog away I cannot get his parents to stop him. Now my husband want to chain up the dog. He stays home except when neighbor kid lured him away use to have to carry him off now he just plays loud and dog runs to him. There is no hope is there…
Hey man, did you come up with this all on your own or did you have a mentor of some kind? I personally have a mentor. He’s an older guy and extremely good. I was never able to figure out any of this on my own get back with me, fellow dog trainer.
Im getting rid of my dog(a non kill shelter), because he deliberately refuses to listen even after months of having the exact same routine and training every single day, it's just somedays he thinks he owns the world. I don't care what anyone says, just like with people there are bad dogs. People are so afraid to hear that too.
Thank you ! I personally feel like shit cause I’ve felt this way for a minute but no one ever thinks it’s not the human maybe the dog just doesn’t care to listen , I have a dog and I’ve been training with her everyday but my god she just doesn’t want to listen . I wanna give her up but obviously I want her to go somewhere where she’ll be taken care of
@@nyannaedwards2206 Some dogs are easier to train than others, breeds definitely play a part in this too... If you were to get a smart breed like a border collie, they learn quickly and easily, but can use their smartness against you too... Having a dog that is of a breed that isn't as intelligent as a border collie, has it's perks, they tend not to question your commands too much, but certain breeds can be stubborn until you show them that being stubborn doesn't bring any rewards. First and foremost, I don't care what people say, but being too kind and not strict enough with your dog will have your dog run circles around you (literally). Everyone seems to be obsessed with 'positive' reinforcement training, but this definitely isn't the case with all dogs. Some dogs need a stricter hand and their breed will determine that too. Hope you didn't give up on your dog, all dogs are definitely trainable, it just takes more time for some dogs due to them being stubborn, this is why it's essential to start training early so you don't encounter stubbornness etc... when they reach adulthood.
