This is the warmest and most calming video I've had about having child with speech delay. Thank you very much! Today, my 2,5 years old, still hasn't had his first words. He can say "Ibu" (our language to "Mom") only when he cries. He is able to make animal sounds, but not the names. He loves animals. He understands lots of animal names. He can point which is what. But he can't say the name. But the tiny wins of the day, he tries to say "ba-ba" refers to our language "Dad", with very slow voice. (even he didn't want to repeat) But he tries!!! Thank you for this video. This means a lot to me.

Hi, great video. Another point to add, if your child isn't speaking, it might be worth getting them a hearing test just in case. Sometimes people have hearing loss where they can hear some sounds but not others so even if they are reacting to sounds, it doesn't necessarily mean that they don't have something going on with their hearing.

Video is great. Our baby is on his way to two years soon and he babbles but doesn’t really say words. He definitely understands things but him not talking concerns me, recently I also noticed he sometimes takes his index fingers and puts its in his ears and are friend googles automatically goes into possible autism which definitely made us even more concerned.

Thank you for this video and reassurance! I wanted to know if you had any tips for the bilingual babies involving speech delays?

I appreciate all the comments here. Sometimes I feel like my daughter is the only one not talking at this age (21 months) but this makes me realize I’m not alone. ❤

We have 5 children. Ages 7, 5, and 3 for the oldest. The twins are about 19 months old, born 2 months early, but neither one speaks more than babbling dadadada. Neither one had much interest in walking or standing until recently when one of them has progressed further to standing short periods on her own. Both move around fine they just don't walk. The combination of mobility and speach delays makes me very apprehensive about their development. I do see progress but I worry each day that something is wrong. I hope your child and ours both eventually get there and find their voice.

My son is 5 and has zero words. he was diagnosed with low intelligence and I laughed when they told me that. Just the day before that, my older sons phone was in all black and white for some reason. We tried everything trying to fix it for about half hour. My 5 year old walked over to us, took the phone, swiped and clicked a few times and handed it back to us and walked away. It was back in color! He is not intellectually challenged by no means. so, why is he not speaking? It's very hard to watch him struggle to get us to understand what he wants. He was saying Mamma to me but he started school two months ago and it stopped. He was babbling too and that stopped as well. It's just so sad for all of us.

That sounds really hard August. Sounds like your son has real strengths too! If he's not speaking, I hope he has access to AAC to help him get his message across.

My 25 month old is starting to say two words together. It’s not all the time but can you do a video to encourage her to do it more? She’s got tons of single words but only a few two word combinations. Thank you 😊

My son is 1 week shy away from 2, when he was an infant he fell off the bed more than once sometimes I wonder if it affects him because he is not able to say his ABC am I rushing him? Mind you this kid is smart he babbles and calls mommy and daddy very well, he follows instructions very, he is very playful and knows his name also he understands anything you say to him, he points at things he wants, he colours, he is at daycare and socialized with the other babies very well, he is so helpful around the house and will babbles your ears off half the time I can't understand him but, I want him to sing ABC with me I hope he is okay and does not have a speech delay or any learning disability. Help

It's lovely to read all of the little things you're noticing in your child's development. I'm sorry it also feels like it's tricky and worrying sometimes. Keep going; progress happens over time!

I have actually a question concerning delay I wish you could advice me. I’m Egyptian and my husband is french and we speak English together. So now my son is 2 years and 7 months old he hear a loooot of french since we live in France and he go to daycare and I spoke to him in English way more than Arabic because I was scared and everyone around me was scared and said oh three languages is too much and not recently I met a mom told me no speak only in Egyptian or he will never speak well Egyptian and I tried but I was worried because he doesn’t hear it that much so I keep switching between the three languages and sometimes I dont have the word in one language so I use it from another « that might sound silly but even somethings I know it’s name in English and not in Egyptian « so now he say sentences of three words but the say loads of baby talk too in between and I’m scared that I’m troubling him and I don’t know to stick to Egyptian now or not because I’m scared if switch to Egyptian suddenly that shock him and he delay more or what ?? Thank you so much in advance I wish you could tell me what to do I will be so grateful

My child is 26 months old. Only saying dada and baba rarely. Have been trying to teach him to talk but he doesn’t talk back. He’s been communicating with sound and sometimes bringing objects to me. He understands everything. He follows the instructions that sometimes I give him. The problem is he’s not even trying to speak. I have tried your water and pipa pig program, but he is not interested. I have bought him toys but losses interest very quickly. What kind of toys should I buy him to increase his interest?

My wasn’t talking until almost 4. I had to look back to figure out what’s missing. In my case it was that we didn’t practice putting sounds together , and hurried into full words. He knew them , but couldn’t pronounce it. And the more we asked the more pressure we put on him. At some point he was telling us “stop teaching me” in his own matter. This RU-vidr was able to show me how important those tiny steps. I learned them , and only then I could help my child. He was so excited to realize that he’s learning “missing pieces” to tell everyone his stories.

Hi there My 26 month old is only saying mom mom and Dad. He sometimes says Yah. He doesn't seem to understand me when I ask for something and he doesn't follow instructions. He has never answered to his name. We have an appointment with an audiologist but I really don't think he is deaf because he looks at me when I make them smallest noise. Spending lots of time behind his back crinkling wrappers and shaking bottles.😂 Is it common for children to not respond when their name is called ? Also he runs around a lot. He does laps of our house all day long so it's hard to get his attention sometimes
