I was stationed on Phu Quoc, the village of Doung Dong, in 1968 when I was in the Air Force. Loved it. I’ve been back to Vietnam (Vietnam Nam) several times in the 1990’s. In HCMC (Saigon), Hanoi, DaNang, Hoi An. A wonderful place with wonderful people. Highly recommended.

It’s so sad how empty a lot of those places are. Not sure what they were thinking when they kept building them all over Vietnam. I mean, the US has more than 3x the population, yet we only have 1 Disney World and 1 Disney Land. With that being said, it looks like a nice place. The ice cream shop is adorable! Love that bamboo architecture and all the local goods for sale.

Without COVID these houses would be sold like hot bread. These houses and apartments will be filled up when the economy is fully restored. Vietnamese people always look for a house that they do business in the first floor and live upstair. Quality houses and apartment need in Vietnam is enormous. Vietnam is a small country with big population, developper is smart to own this piece of land and built it up. They are rich enough to have employees to take care of these empty houses for years.

Hi, thank you for another beautiful video. I was in Phu Quoc for 3 days in December. We stayed on the western side, near the incredible Dinh Cau Temple. We loved that area. One day we drove up to the north for some Spearfishing and passed Vin World. I was shocked by it. It struck me as an oversized Las Vegas, but with most of the buildings empty. I’m concerned that like other resorts around the world it will give visitors a false sense of being in Vietnam, and worse that the effect on local businesses and people will be severe if all the tourists skip staying in the local communities. I love Vietnam and its people and I want to see all of them prosper, I just hope they don’t over develop the ‘party’ atmosphere I saw popping up everywhere and leave the locals behind.

you should have been there back around 2010. I also lived there from 2016-2018 but I haven't returned since. maybe they've cleaned it up since 2018, but the whole island (outside of the high end resort enclaves) was a filthy cesspool.

As someone who was born and bred in Vietnam and raised in the States, I find this kind of self-inflicted Western cultural farce utterly disconcerting and distasteful. Ancient as it may be, traditional Vietnamese culture and indigenous community and people have so much more to offer the world. The country beckons to be experienced by its rich history, arts, culinary delights, and so much more!! Nothing breeds inauthentic experiences like transplanting artificial European cities to an otherwise quaint, idyllic, and genuinely incomparable Southeast Asian cultural wonder. I realize this is neither a positive nor praiseworthy commentary for the vlog, but nevertheless objective. I strive for authenticity and hope that well-intentioned observations and critiques will lead to better content curations in the future, as opposed to Western commercialism... XOXO, kindest regards;

One of the best resorts and customer service i have experienced was at New World Phu Quoc and Phu Quoc beer is soo easy to drink. Shame they don't export it out of the island.
