my lithops just hatched, i now have 50 or so microscopic lithops and more hatching every day, they are so adorable with their teeny weenie leaves they look like itty bitty adults.
I found wrinkles on my lithops and totally panicked!! Was advised to water them because they're in full sun everyday (heatwave in Scandinavia), then I panicked some more and took them out of the pot a couple hours later because I'm afraid I overwatered it and wanted to check to roots. Your video calmed me down, I'll repot them tomorrow and stop panicking about the wrinkles! Thanks!!!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Brand new here! This is my second video of ours. I bought my first lithops last night..... It's wrinkly. I have zero idea what stage it's at, I have no idea if it needs water. Hahaha I looked at the roots and it doesn't look like they're are hardly any there. Eek. I need to repot it into a better medium but not sure where to buy some. (plus, I only need a tiny bit since my lithops is Itty bitty) Off to watch the rest of your videos. Hahaha
Would a good reliable indicator to water the succulents be when the center part of the plant starts to wrinkle after the outer part has shriveled away? These are definitely the most complex and challenging of all house plants.
Thank you from this lithops newbie who just freaked out at the sight of wrinkly lithops exactly as you described, just 10 minutes ago... Tylecodon Schaeferianus video, please... 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
What does a healthy root system look like for a lithops? I was shipped one bear root and I wasn't sure how it is "supposed" to look. Great video by the way. It's taking some of the edge off. :)
For all of my cacti and succulents including these I started using the new gritty mix that I have ordered from Amazon. I like it because it is very fast draining.
Most people suggest you soak your succulents when you water. The couple of drops thing is way too much work, and if your soil is porous enough there is absolutely no need for that. Water thoroughly, let the water run out of the bottom of the container, done.
Greetings from germany. Thank you very much for your videos. Sometimes I regret that you´re speaking so fast, :-) It´s difficult for me to understand everything... no matter...thank you!!
Which is better for lip.. the grow lights or outside with direct sunlight? If underneath grow lights how close with new ones? No I am new at this and handicap as well. Just getting some shipped from nursery Like your video very much Dot Cherkas- in PA
In which case did you soak your lithops? One of mine is wrinkled and soft, it’s roots are small and somehow rigid, but alive I think? Also, it has its leaves to shed, but it doesn’t seem close to do so. The center is not soft. I love your videos, kisses from Brazil 😘😘😘
The tall lithops is that because they were just born? Do they shrink back to normal size or are they suppose to stay tall? Mine was tall and then I put them deeper in the dirt….that may have been a mistake I lost one of the leaves. 😢
:) thanks for this whole video. I got 2 of these and 2 of the weird... dragon cabbage ones :) at a store that was selling them like kinda art and they were all mushed together and distorted so i felt bad but I'm definitely not qualified to fix them - but they are throwing new roots now and opening (had no idea they did that) so watching this has been most useful :)
I have a big pair of leaves shriveling a new set coming out of that with a flower that has bloomed and died. Do I wait for the bottom wrinkled set to.dry out and THEN water? Love your channel!
My place is very hot and my lithops seem start splitting but the process is very slow and seems nothing has changed. The outer leaves are very dry and wrinkle. Should I give a little water and would it die if I leave it without water?
Hello i am a new subscriber to your channel as well as your facebook page. I recently got some lithops and some are kinda growing longer than other. What am i doing wrong? I want to make sure i do a good job, keep them healthy and alive.
Thanks for your videos but I am still unsure of how and when to water lithops. I have lost quite a few lithops bought online but I have a few over watered ones from Home Depot that is taking forever to split and the soil is bone dry. Do I water them or not
Hi, I know it's about lithops, but you have that plant on top left at second 40 of the video and I would like to ask you to identify it. I have the same one and cannot find it out.
My lithops afte outer leaves dried up but i notice the split of the new plant was quite mushy in the center along the line. Till i pull it up n notice that the base is all mushy n mold what happen
Can someone PLEASE tell me how often I am supposed to water these things? I have 2 that I just got. I pulled the shriveled up leaves off of one when I first got it, then I realized that I am not supposed to do that. What do I do? How often do I water them? How much water do I give? I am so confused.
If you watch several videos about lithops one thing you will find is there is no easy answer. Some plants you just water when dry and you will be OK but with lithops it is more of an art or a feel for their growth patterns and stages. Once I watered one pot of mine and out of 4 plants one blew up. Good sign I'd watered too much. Sorry there is no easy answer like water them every 10 days.
Mine have just split and starting to new one inside... but I'm confused because it's January the 4th so are they growing too late or too early... I've had them for about 8mths in may and they were not split at all... Please advise if I should leave them and not water and or should I put them under a grow light... Please help me..........
I've only had lithops since fall last year. They all split ok-ish. I've had 1 flower in july which I thought was early and I looked the other day as I saw a few had started to open a little so thought more had buds growing but I looked In and saw new leaves. Starting to split at the very beginning of September and not flowering beforehand. What is wrong? They dont look sick.
I’m having a problem with my split rock plant and could use your advice. Is there a way I could send you a picture of the plant with my question to you?
Hi wish you did house calls. A few of mine have turned to gush and rotted. I have 2 that have a crease on their sides. Do I water? Ignore it? I still don’t know when to water? Thanks
Are all the plants in each pot divisions from one original or did you plant several plants in each pot? If they are all divisions from one original plant, how long would it take to get say 10 plants in a pot? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers this question.
Bill Astell, it depends on which variety. I often pot several together because they often grow better with friends than alone, but many of my pots have just expanded and produced offsets over the years. But it really totally depends on which succulents or mesembs being discussed, As far as how long it would take to go from one plant to 10. Is there a specific variety you were wondering about particularly?
It is lithops I was wondering about. I guess there are many different varieties so it would not be an easy question to answer without more information. You do have lovely plants. I have just stared growing them and have much to learn. Thanks for making this great video.
Critter Girl, I made a video about this and just realized I never uploaded it! 😱 So I’ll do that soon. Quick question, I THINK it was you telling me about going to a nursery in Spokane that had epiphytes and orchid Cacti etc..??? Does that sound familiar? And if so, could you share the name of the nursery please? I’m hoping to visit tomorrow! 🤗
