Sometimes you have gone too far when you realize that the machine is good to go and the problem is with the way the machine was operated. Even experienced sewers can miss that their thread jumped out of the proper thread path. Let's see how I deal with it today.

I have found that when reinstalling screws into plastic, or any material for that matter, if you turn the screw in the loosening direction (counterclockwise normally) you will feel a small click/detent/bump where the threads on the screw and the threads in the hole line up. At that point the screw, if threads were not previously damaged, will thread in smoothly. Most people who are new to using powered tools to remove/insert screws into plastic, and many who are experts, do not do this and do not realize when they have damaged the soft plastic threads by cross threading, which in turn will normally lead to overtightening, which in turn causes damage to or possibly strips out the threads in the plastic. I agree, while convenient, power tools should not be used on plastic items, at least not to install the screws. Good video and information, Thank You ...

You've just captured my rapt attention. I have a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine just like yours. A lot of bird nesting . My one issue right now is that in threading the upper part , is that I've been threading the Viking much as you do with the exception of after coming from the take-up lever I've been drawing the thread against that little curved wire then down to the needle . Only to get birdnesting . Very frustrating. To the sewing machine store I go . Figured I would have to ask for a cleaning. $ . I was helped by a very gracious woman who threaded my machine drawing the thread from spool to the first curved like thing , DOWN to the small guide , which I thought was used in needle threading the bobbin - up to the second hook thing , then down to the slot in the machine, up to the take up arm then down through BETWEEN the small curved wire and the machine case then slid the thread into a clip then to the needle. I see by your tutorial that the thread over the first guide then down to the small guide ( notch on the top and notch on the bottom ) then up to the second guide then down to the space for the take up arm was wrong. I'm assuming that the final small clip however was correct. I have the owners manual, and the technical illustration only shows half of that . Will follow for more tutorials on Husqvarna Viking machines. My machine seems to be older than yours , but identical. If you address the issues I've brought, it should be most helpful. Grateful that I found your post . Many thanks.

I know nothing about mechanics or repairing sewing machines, but I am learning a lot from you. I would like to see a video summarizing the operator errors you have come across and what the symptoms of it were.

Hi - I have a Husqvarna Daisy 335 from 1999, which is very similar to this machine. Recently, with a new spool of thread, the thread started hopping out of the take up lever. Rethreaded multiple times but still the same issue. I am of the opinion the thread was stiffer than in the past (Gutermann thread.) I was able to solve the hopping issue by using the vertical thread holder instead of the horizontal thread holder. I can see this machine has the same set up for the vertical holder just to the right of the horizontal holder, there are two small openings one above the other. The vertical holder slips into those openings. It should hopefully be part of the accessory kit. If this is the issue for your machine's owner, this might help too. Love your videos! Thanks for all you do to help and educate sewists.

What do you do? I'll tell you what you do. You clean the machine, tune it up a bit then charge them DOUBLE!! A stupidity tax!!😄 (Just kidding.) Just charge them as you would and go on to the next job. You should get paid for your time, at least. And tell them where they goofed up. Politely. This is the first notification I've received from your channel in a long time. Missed your vids. Hope you're doing well! 👍

Nice video, Wes. Did I notice that this machine was a full rotary hook? Very unusual today. It also seemed to have a lot of metal inside. I'm sure the smoothness was due to the rotary hook.

I have three Vikings and all are rotary hooks. I don't think Viking makes an oscillating hook machine.

Sewing Machine Repair Guy: I really like that you include Scripture. I just ordered a new Brother ST371HD for home use. I'm hoping you have video's on this model. The last time I sewed was with my mothers 40+ year old Bernina over 30 years ago any beginner tips would be helpful. I need to Hem Stretchy Polyester ,Denim Jeans and Heavy Straps for my Camping Gear Etc. I need to know the Needle and Thread choices. Do you recommend any books I might buy for this information maybe on Amazon. There are no Sewing stores near where I live so Online is about my only option .Thank You

I have a brother se 625 embroidery and sewing machine. Recently I saw a video that showdc the switch on the back to lower the feed dogs. Ok I moved the switch. Now the only way I can get them to come back up is to take the throat plate off, move the shift to hold the feed dogs in place. But the throat plate does not fit properly and down goes the feed dogs again. Please help. I don't have a local repair person. And I came across your video on hopes to fix this issue. Please I need help!!!

Dude, what can you tell me about industrial serger/overlocker/chainstitch machines. On a whim, I bought a Union Special 39500FW. I bit off more than I can chew and swallow. I have a manual. Any ideas? It isn't stitching . Do I need a more elastic thread or will polyester do?

riceowls My kenmore 158 179282 seems to sew fine for basic straight and zigzag stitches. However, it will not perform the built in buttonhole feature. It doesn't make the bartack and it doesn't reverse direction. For regular stitching it does reverse. Also, the specialty stitches don't seem to work properly either. It's as if something is being left out and it may make a knocking noise, probably more on those stitches that require forward and backward motion. The machine has not had that much wear and was sitting up a lot after our move. I followed the manual and oiled it last night to get it ready for use again. Any insights? Are the cams somehow locked up? I guess I should take it in to the mechanic? Thank you.

At the age of four, I can't count the number of times I adjusted the tensionizer, and 're-threaded' the machine to hear my mother say ;"this darn thing, or Oh crap, it's out of time", etc. so yeah, talk to the kids.
