You had an interview. You feel like it went well, maybe even great, and you’re hoping to hear from your interviewer or recruiter soon with good news…but then you don’t.
What do you do?
In this video, I share with you my advice on how to handle this exact situation. Sometimes you might be getting ghosted, but sometimes it might just be a delay in communication. Either way, it’s up to you to continue to make a good impression and NOT burn any bridges.

"You probably dodged a bullet". Absolutely, shows that the team you could have been on might have bad communication skills, forget to follow up on tasks, or a toxic work environment.

Nursing HR/recruiters are a different breed. They’ll take you on a tour of the unit you’ll be working on and introduce you to people, talk about background checks, etc and then have someone you never met during the interview tell you they chose another candidate even though you are more than qualified. Those are the type of employers I won’t work for if they’re ok doing that to prospective employees.

2 to 3 business days makes sense. If they have not scheduled the other interview or updated you within 3 business days after uour last interview, chances are you have been rejected.

This truly helped me stop overthinking. I asked and was told if you are picked the next steps are .... and i will hear back from them with no later then the end of the month. Fingers crossed that I get to the next interview

I made several follow ups and calls only to be rejected after 3 months. That was the most unprofessional thing I've come across

Hey Abby, your being articulate, eloquent, wise and straight to the point is helping those tired of videos watch yours a little longer. Drawing from your experience or knowledge. may be you can create a video about "the weird interview". Never thought this exists till I went thru one ....

Hello, I got an immediate response from my thank u email they stated Thank you for your email. It was great to meet you yesterday at your interview. We will be in touch with information on the next steps in the process. Is this a good sign

That was quite informative in the first follow up mail they replied sorry for the delay hope to give you some information soon. What can be inferred on it am I considered further or just hanged as back up

Good advice but I would say to wait at least a week before sending out the follow up email. I think three emails in a short span of time is excessive and if they were taking longer due to being indecisive, I feel like that would take you out of the running for doing too much.

Thank you for your feedback! Depending on the hiring timeframe, a week could certainly be an appropriate length of time to send your first follow up email.

Employers and recruiters alike that don’t respond after several follow-up emails are just plain rude and unprofessional. Being ghosted is one of the worst things hiring managers and recruiters could ever do. But it happens quite often. I don’t understand them not giving interviewed applicants a critique of how they think the interview went. They might be able to offer important advice moving forward. But ghosting should be a definite no-no. Just my two cents.

The answer to this is so obvious: become a real estate agent. You will always get the job with more freedom than will ever be possible anywhere else. No more b.s. such as can I work 8-4:30 with a half hour lunch (which is pretty standard) instead of 8-5 ? No I' won't approve that. As a real estate agent, you can do whatever you want whenever you want and the best part: you only need high school! So no death-forced block force undignified student loans that will be there until maggots come out of the grave , just wut you need to pass the test . . .

I had an interview for a position for a company that was still under construction she told me at then end she can’t say as yet but she knows that’s the interview went well. She did show me what the office looked like so far but idk how to feel. After a week I did send a a follow up message it’s been 3 days now and no answer so idk what to think. Training she said would be in march then the company would be open in April is this because the company needs more time to open possibly?

It’s possible they aren’t being responsive due to the the late opening and they have a lot going on. At the same time, if you STILL haven’t gotten a response, you can follow up again but I also wouldn’t wait around for them. It’s also important to remember, even if they offer you the job, it’s not yours until you actually start in the position. There have been horror stories of people getting new jobs, quitting their old ones, and the new job then rescinds the offer. Don’t let this happen to you!

Please Help! I applied for a remote job that I REALLY desire with a company that I REALLY want to work for. I was contacted for a phone screening interview, finished that then was contacted for a video interview with the Regional Manager. The video interview went great, then I was contacted for a Video interview with a panel of 3 Regional managers which included a Simulation slide presentation. That interview went well and I asked the questions that you advised. The final one being, is there any hesitation that you may have as to my fit for the posistion. All 3 answered, with a Definetely Not. and added things that they liked about my interview presentation and me personally. They told me not to get concerned if they don't contact me the same week because it was Thrusday but they would follow up the following week with Next Steps. Now, it is a week later and I have heard NOTHING BACK! I have sent a thank you email to all of the interviewers through the recruiter and yesterday (Thursday) sent another followup email just letting them know that I am eager to find out what Next steps are that they mentioned in my interview. What would you suggest that I do next please?

Great question! I think at this point, you continue to wait. If you sent emails yesterday (Thursday) give them until end of day Monday to follow up. I’d send 1 more message to the recruiter Monday evening, but after that there doesn’t seem to be much more that you can do. I’d continue to job search to ensure you have options, even if you really want this job with this organization, and let’s all cross our fingers that they come through next week!

@@LifeWorkBalance Thank you for your reply. I wanted to give you an update incase this can help others. Saturday (after business hours) the Regional Manager that I interviewed with emailed me and asked for a video chat the following Tuesday morning anytime that I chose. So when we chatted, he apologized that it was taking so long, but the position that I interviewed for was going to be delayed for a month or so but because they 'didn't want to lose me' they figured out another position that was open immediately just to get me in the company and then when the time comes, they will transition me to the job that I interviewed for without having to interview again! So , instead of being offered one position, I was offered 2 positions! lol (This stuff is crazy now adays!) Thanks for all that you do!
