We often are asked what to do when you regret breaking up with someone days, weeks or months later. People are often ashamed to say that they regret breaking up with someone, but the truth is that only idiots never change their minds.
We as human beings make mistakes and learn from them… that’s one of the ways that we grow and mature as people.

This is exactly what I went through. After a year of contemplating ending my 5 year long relationship, I had a hard conversation surrounding our future needs and brought up how I wasn't sure if they were lining up anymore. During that conversation he pushed me away out of fear. No resentment from my end on how he acted, but that was the moment I needed him to plead, or give me the attention I was calling out for. When he didn't, I began to doubt, and eventually break-up with him.

Please advice and note that i was maybe needy pushy ( to get an answer from him) and he was silent not giving closure or communication. i was trying to get some space and that was the only reason why i kept trying to end thing but she would get very upset each time and blow up. i remember all that now i kinda forgot but yeah i just needed some space... because i had just lost my dad at the start of my senior year of high school. and then i was dealing with this new girl leading me on and all that stuff. an my entire senior year was very confusing and hard an i felt alot of pressure from alot of ppl.

I said to a girl to not wait for me and we were together for two years...I used to tell her that I am confused, wasn't giving her time, was busy in my work-life, which made her felt unwanted and she thought i am not taking her seriously rather granted but that was not done intentionally. One day she asked me that she want to know what I think about her because she is an amazing girl and she cannot wait. In anger I said don't wait for me..just do what you want to do...There was no contact from her because she told her mom and her mom is against me now... I love her so much and I don't know what I was doing...I kept sending her text which clearly depicts being needy and I was trying to express my feelings. She saw another man in me which she hasn't seen before.She said she regrets that she loved me and she was being fooled for two years. I initiated the breakup, explained her my reasons, everything went down respectfully. She understood why I was doing what I was doing. She however still tried to bring us back together but I refused. And then one day she gave up and she went on no contact. However after 2 months of nc when I went back to her patch things up and tried explaining that I can work things out now, she just decided to shut me off. Told me to back off and that she has no emotional connection for me anymore, and that she doesn't want to relate with me in any way. She said that she still respects me a lot but doesn't want to get back into this. And that she is finally moving ahead in life after a lot of emotional struggle and that I shouldn't make it difficult for her. I did some begging and pleading, ans then she blocked me, but unblocked me after a week. But I went on complete no contact from the day she blocked me. It has been almost 2 months now. What should I do now? (We were in a 6 year long relationship till now)

Move on. She understood the breakup but didnt want it, She wanted you, you said no. So she had to move on.. Ofc she wont wait half a year and waiting for a CHANCE if you might come back

As there was no cheating involved, i think if he comes back after 3 months, i would take him bavk but i'd want some time. Give her time. Thank you for this, I broke up with a new boyfriend after a shocking reveal during a night of drinking of a side of their personality that I wasn't prepared for and the sudden and intense feeling of hatred and desire to break up intensified a depression I've been battling. I'm not sure I want to get back together, and I'm not proud of dumping him so quickly, but I feel armed in case I change my mind.

I was still hurting from another relationship before him so I broke up with him because I realized I wasn’t ready. (He knew I was recovering from a toxic relationship) I healed from the other guy and decided that I really want to be with him, but he said that he doesn’t have the same feeling for me anymore. Hey, I broke up with him and instantly regretted it. He has depression and it really changed his level of emotional intimacy. We were together 9 years ago and it ended poorly with me leaving. I just got scared things were going on that directions and magnified small issues until I whipped myself into an upset big enough to say I think we shouldn’t be together anymore. Pretty shortly after, I regretted it because I realized it was myopic and selfish and did not acknowledge all that he does and the real love and connection we share. I already sent doomed messages. But just one and nothing else. Any way to bounce back from this. I think I figured out what my problem is but like 2 days to late. 😔

I was the one who broke up with him. I made a mistake. I told him that I want to get better and that I want to start again and get back together. He told me he doesn’t want to get back together and that now he’s happy again. But I feel like he’s still there because we still text and I know he still misses me. I just want to have that connection again. I miss him and who knows if he misses me too.

Hi @loveadvicetv Thank you for all of your videos! I do have one question that I haven't been able to find a video on just yet. What do you do when your ex broke up with you saying that they don't see a future with you. But over the past few months they were diagnosed with depression and have been increasing their antidepressant dosage? Can these factors alter feelings surrounding being "in love"? What should I do from here? We broke up the 23rd of April....and I've been NC since then. Any guidance or helpful words would be much appreciated. Thank you so much!

Look into those particular meds.Some meds will tell you that they alter moods in personality in particular ways.They don't all work the same way.Hence he may need to change medications.Just a thought.

Hi I had a third beak up with the same girl. First break up was because of a childish stupid reason, but second and third were because of the same reason ( I took my ex for granted and I wasnt much active in the relationship ). After the second break up I was begging her to come back to me and she did, but I didnt change myself, and I know it was my mistake that we got back together and eventually had our third break up. I feel regret that I failed her trust, trust of the only person who believed in me. Its been 5 months since we broke up and now I am going trough every step you are suggesting in your videos and I am working on myself. Hi, I just recently broke up with my girlfriend. It was not a bad breakup and I feel we rushed things. We were together for a couple of months. We were happy, compatible, and busy. She is a single mom and works 12 hours a day. She is very happy with her job and I like that she a busy woman. I broke up with her because she didnt want to tell her parents about me or her son, plus she was fresh out of a 5 year relationship. I feel like I messed up because I lost focus on myself and took it out on her. There was always respect in the relationship and I feel I should make things right. I tried to get her to come back but that didn’t work. I will initiate the no contact method and give her some space. Do you think she will be able to give me another chance? And should I look for her once I feel mentally stable to do so?

Hi bro,I broke up with her and regreted after 2 days and ask for her forgivness but she didnt forgive me and she didnt want to come back together. in the beginning i accept that and respect her decition. But after several days i reached out again with anger desprate and try to explain but she didnt reply to me for a month. In that month month i reached out 2 or 3 time for forgivness. Before one week i did the clean msg i apologized my behaviour and told het again that i respect her decition and start the no contact, and she replyed every thing was too much for her and im bad for her life but still good person she kind of explain herself a bit, and she wished me good luck. My ex girlfriend likes to use breakup a weapon, and she is just playing the power game all the time. This has been a very consistent pattern for her in all her failed relationship. This is abusive and manipulative and she has some attachment issue or even personality disorder to work on. I am not going back to her just bc she still loves me. I love her as well but a couple weeks is not enough for her to change anything substantially.

I am the breakup-er. I also am hoping we will change and find one another as better versions of our present selves. We have kids and see one another often. We have made mistakes. I believe I have learned and although I hope for us I do not count on it. He will always be in my life, and I truly wish the best for him. I count on myself now. Waivering days? absolutely! Hi, I messed up. I broke up with my 1 year gf a month ago. She has 2 kids so I never fully committed. She was always the one initiating. Fast forward to the breakup it's been a month since I broke up with her and starting seeing each other again. She then told me she was leaving to her country for 3 weeks to clear her mind, baby daddy lives over there too. I played it cool and told her that it was fine, I was still seeing her and then I ghosted her. See started to blow up my phone and all I replied in a text was " I don't want to get hurt, I don't care what she does." She went off on me saying I used her for sex and that I didn't care about her. This was yesterday. She leaves out of the country today. I tried calling her but she blocked me and has blocked me from all social media. Is this a indication that she has decided to move on? Should I wait after she comes back to reach out again? Or should I try to reach out in a few days even though I'm blocked and explain that I messed up? I don't want to look desperate either.

Hi coaches, so here's the situation, my and my ex were in a lond distance relationship but we loved each other sooo much. We only met 2 times though. Everything was amazing but when i moved to kettering and he to Glasgow he went out with some friends and after he got home and texted me he wasnt himself. He changed so much. We started fighting all the time our relationship went downhill. So maybe 4/6 weeks ago he left me. But then said that he wants a second chsnce so i said okay. We were still fighting tho. So we took a break. And during the break he made out with another girl. It hurt like a bullet. So we were together for a few more days until i just couldnt take the fights and the fact that he kissed another girl so yesterday i left him and all he said was bye. And now...i dont know if i regret leaving him or not. 6 months together until this fucking happened... :(

Hi Coaches. I broke up with my boyfriend, and within 24 hours regret my decision, tried to talk to him, which he agreed, and then stuck to my decision because I wasnt getting the results I wanted in the conversation. Then I begged for him to come back and made all the mistakes you mentioned. It's been 2 weeks now of no contact. i wish my ex wld regret aha…oh well. A question for you guys, how do I work towards getting him back when I addressed the reasons, and actually the more we talk, the more clarity we get. He distance again. And with each time, I can feel our distance getting further. It been six months and now, we have just stop talking entirely. I don't know how i should be fighting for this anymore. I backed off to respect his decision.

She threatened to break up and i went along with it. Then she wanted to stay together but I felt I needed to recreate my person. I lost myself to the relationship and the negativity in my life. 6 months later I realized I could make these changes with her by my side. Hello guys :) I'm still very much in love with my ex (M, 31yo). It was a very short relationship (2 months) but he finished it because he decided he didn't want commitment. He says he doesnt want to lose his freedom,and that we're very different in many aspects. Since then (4months now) we try to rebuild it but it always finishes with him saying he only wants to stay friends with benefits (even though he treats me like his girlfriend quite often). He gets very sad when I tell him we should stop seeing each other. He says things like "I really like you and I don't want you to hate me". We did cut contact twice, but he didn't change his mind, and again I think we're stucked in the frinds with benefits limbo... Is there any hope here? Anything I can do? Thanks in advance :)

I broke up with her on a very irrational choice. Not because of her, but really because of me. I was broke financially and was just so down i the dumps. She lives in Romania and I live i the USA. Hence me being broke made me really depressed and make thee dumb choice because I couldn't move to her sooner. Can anyone help me here please?!!!! Last Tuesday I sent him a break up message because I felt he has lost interest and friends zoned me. I told him I am walking away but It’s hard for me, I will miss him, I beg him not to contact me anymore, two days later, he texted me saying he was trying hard not to contact, and we’ve started talking again, and I regret the drama I made, I want to be with him so much, but I feel his attitude is take it or leave it he will not change. I want to try again, I thought he will asked me out yesterday, because we often met on Tuesday evening, but he didn’t even he has texted me, he asked how I feel mentally, I don’t know what to do to serve me the best, I am not even sure he wants me back or not, but he is still contacting me, what should I do? Should I apologize and just go back like usual? By the way, he said he cannot promise to get it all right but he can try. However I didn’t see any actions from him. After all I am the one always making drama trying to leave him but I just couldn’t, he shouldn’t have contacted me, and then without stepping up.

What if i need time for myself. I need time to think it all through befor contacting him. My ex and i broke up once befor abd got back together though nothing got worked out the first time and i felt completely insecure. I feel i got needy every month id tell him i felt he wasn't talking or seeing me at all. Three months he was working and staying 50 miles away but would contact me very little. I addressed it and he'd rush to fix it with a call then it'd go back to sparingly. I April he visited me for 30 mins... I got insecure and checked his public Facebook and saw he was missing his ex and i just lost it emotionally. I broke up with him viatext telling him i knew he didn't love me ave that i wished him the best... He repliedhe did love me and to quit overhauling and get sleep...i did not reply back to his texts. They were dismissing my attempt to break up with him. I don't want to be with someone that doesn't love me. I feel he loved his ex, he called her his soulmate. But there are times when i feel i wasnt understanding or a good enough girlfriend. I saw a future with him... I don't know what to do.

Tried to talk to him but he thinks I was trying to manipulate him by breaking up with him. I was so unhappy with the way he treated me angry and frustrated. I did everything to change myself because he found such fault and criticized me. I gave 100% went to counseling had TMS treatment for my depression and anxiety got a job when I am retired because he said I wasn't financially stable. He refused to go to counseling and correct his issues after a horrible 25 year marriage to a drug addict and gambler. He refused to commit to me. Long distance for 2 1/2 years. I just wanted to be with him have known him 37 years was always the love of my life. He won't speak to me now. I tried to get him to commit to me. He refused so I had to be willing to walk away. I regret it but I just don't think he is the right person for me period. Please help is it worth saving?

Hey guys,what do you think about this?My ex and I broke up around 2 months ago.She ended up blocking me on every social media and my number as well.I begged and pleaded for the first two weeks.I later found out she was having sex/dating one of her co workers so I was started doing NC.She ended up unblocking me and messaging me around day 35 of NC but for what seemed to be an excuse to talk.Later on though that same day she blocked me again and She hasnt messaged since.its now day 52 no contact.What do you think/any advice?

Hi Coaches. I accidentally text my ex by mistake yesterday. Even though he knows its a text sent by mistake he was immediately responsive & tried to continue he conversation with very quick response. He wasnt like this when we were together. As mentioned in my previous comments he had reached out a couple of times after dumping me but his manner of reaching out were rather casual without mention of apologies or past breakup. His intentions to stay friendly or slowly working towards getting back isnt clear. How do I decifer? What approach should I take when he reaches out again so that if he is keen to come back to me he can get his act together & go all in instead of lazy snippets here & there just to touch base?

I broke up with my ex in highschool over someone kissing her and she admitted to kissing him back.. I almost forgave her but G-code said dump her. I wimped out put it all over Myspace and for the past decade we've been in and out of contact on good and bad terms, acting nice or toxic towards each other. I know she tried multiple times to reconnect with me or make me jealous... I resented her for some some life choices she made and recently she started a family. I strategically waited until she had the baby to to tell her I regretted that I resented for so long and that I was kinda jealous that she made a family.. long story short I got deleted but not blocked off her social media.. I really don't want to get with her but I always wanted to try again when we were successful or after trying a new relationship. I haven't had that many girlfriends though and just dated around. Just sharing because I feel like telling her made her feel uncomfortable bringing up old stuff.

But I'm really handsome and she always said that made her uncomfortable. I'm not really caring at this point if we get together I just miss my friend

Hey Coach Adrian and Coach Alex, I broke up with my boyfriend with a letter and about a week later regretted it. I realized I was tripping over some emotional baggage and blamed it on him. I've watched several of your videos. I was in contact with him after breakup, but it seemed he started to ignore me so I've been in NC for over 30 days now. I want to send him an accountability letter now, but do you think in this case its a good idea for me to send accountability letter since I broke up with a letter?? About a week after my ex had broken up w/ me (occasionally still texting throughout) she messaged me on 2 instances saying she was thinking about me and hopes all is well. Didnt really message eachother afterwards. I've been in no contact now for about 2 weeks. Did I miss a chance to rekindle or was she trying to make sure I didn't complete leave as a backup. She had said she wanted to be friends only, but then later said maybe have hopes for a future together.

Hi. I was in long distance relationship. He was supposed to come and to spend more time together . He said he had circumstances that was not allowing him . Comunication was poor and he was saying it was pressure and circumstances against him. I couldnt handle it so i start to send angry messages to make him talk if theres somoeones in his life or to end this relationship. No response. I sent him wats upmessages asking to tell me if hes holding on or he wants to end and that im ready for any decision and i expressed my love and that the relationship means to me but i will respect and accept. For 3 weeks he never replied . So i sent him wats up message :" u can delete my number. i got ur response & the only thing i understood is that u don't know how to behave.sorry for having to block u to get u out of life. And block him right away. I unfriended him on facebook

Yeah I'm in the same situation. I think ny pride and ego was too big. I too dumped him on speculation of him cheating and rumors of him being abusive to his exes. I reached out 2 months ago and asked if he could write me but still no response. It's been a year almost since I dumped him and I still can't get over him 😭. Now he is gone and in a different country as well. I feel like it's all my fault and I ruined a good relationship that didn't have a chance to grow and I could have been married by now.
