Also if you are skinning all of them, if you leave the rinds in a jar with sugar you can make a very simple lemon syrup great for teas, matcha, and alcohols.
Keep the peels! You can make candy out of them. Basically, you carefully slice off the pith (the white stuff) so it's just the yellow part. Fill a pot with water and toss them in. Boil until the peels start to change colour. Dump them in ice water. Boil them again. They should start becoming translucent. Ice again. Lay them on a cutting board and slice them into whatever shape you want, I usually go for long and thin. Measure how much water you have left and add sugar (2:1). Put it on the stove at med high heat and stir to dissolve the crystals. Wait until it bubbles, drop the peels in, don't stir *then reduce the heat. You only want light bubbling not a rolling boil. Use a wet spatula to slide along the edges of the pot where sugar can build up. The peels will turn into a perfectly clear jelly consistency. Like they'll actually look exactly like gummy candy. You will know when you see it, people are always amazed at how they transform the first time they have them! Get two big plates and pour a pile of sugar on one. Pull out the pieces of peel with a slotted spoon and let the syrup drip off. Drop them individually onto the sugar pile and roll them around in it. Then transfer them to the other plate (you can use parchment paper or a bakers mat, just make sure they don't touch or they'll stick). Let them dry and cool and you've got delicious lemon candy! Take the syrup off the heat and let it cool a little bit, not all the way, and pour it into a glass vessel like a mason jar. You can use the lemon syrup on ice cream, in yogurt, pour it over anything you want. It's so good in drinks like cocktails and lemonades. You can use any citrus peel, my favourites are grapefruit and lemon, I'm not huge on the lime ones because I find it a bit too bitter. This also works with fresh ginger root, it will become translucent in the syrup as well, just make sure you slice it super thin or they'll be too overwhelming to eat! Pineapple can also be used but you need to dehydrate it first, trade the boiling stages for dehydrator ones. Experiment with it. Mango would be good! It's such an easy way to make candy.
Another good thing to do with lemons is to plant the seeds in a pot with soil, water the soil, and in less than a week you'll see the sprouts. Continue watering when soil dries, keep the pot on the window sill in a sunny spot in any room. Watch the seedlings grow to mini trees. When the leaves grow to the width of your thumb, gently snap the leaf off and press the leaf between you thumb and index finger and smell the leaf. It's a wonderful, fragrant citrucy aroma.
Except lemons don’t grow true to seed. So if you have a meyor lemon and you take that seed and plant it you won’t get a meyor lemon. They need to be grafted.

I worked in my parent's café, so I did a lot of smoothies. You need a REALLY powerful mixer for "lemon stone" like this. Because if you freeze such huge pieces, they become to hard " stones". We broke one or two mixers because of this mistake :( be careful!

Wash and rub lemon with salt to get rid of the pesticides. Slice it thinly, layer the slices in a jar and pour honey or any type of sweetener. Live out in room temperature overnight before keeping it in the fridge, best for fast lemon drink and tea. After a few days, I eat it just like that. Even the skin is not bitter anymore.
If u bit down on lemons after u drink vodka it’ll take away the after taste or something. Idk never did it cause never needed it but my brother does it.
If she took more of the white part off the lemon would be less sour but I was really excited to see what she was going to do and then I realize it was ice cream

I find much joy in eating them plain as well. I picked it up from my parents who did it a lot because they grew up in poverty in India and lemons were everywhere but candy wasn’t.

Looks good but honey or sugar instead of maple syrup- I seriously don’t get the vegan trend of adding maple syrup instead of sugar, it overpowers most flavors
Also, I don't get it, because the sugar and carbohydrate content is just the same. And most maple syrup that people think is maple syrup is refined anyway.
@@tofu1964 yeah. I think that they're using maple syrup to avoid honey but it's often cross referenced as being more healthfull than sugar, which isn't too accurate.
I tried this with the maple syrup and it was very sour. I also tried it with sugar replacements and zero calorie juice to try to cut the bitterness, I was unable to. I think this is a good idea for a smoothie (if you use one lemon) and protein powder but with the rind on it’s just too sour.

@@R4e0fsunshine It isn't' invalid if you are an experienced cook and understand flavor profiles. Maple syrup is not a good choice for sweetener in this application- it will clash with the other flavors. Plus it is no healthier than sugar because it is sugar. Tree sugar is still sugar. Also she didn't use enough to balance the sourness of the lemons. Also she took out the best part- the zest and left plenty of pith behind. Not only that those huge ass pieces of frozen lemon can wreck your expensive blender. She should have made them smaller. This wouldn't be as good as shaved ice and for that matter it wouldn't even be good.
In my village we make a special snack that from what I know(with my limited knowledge) is a snack mostly found in my village, it's not made in many places. Huge lemons, extremely huge lemons grow in my village and what do is take out the pulp, add curd and sugar to it and eat it, it's incredibly delicious.

For those that don't like coconut, use 1/2 Avocado for creaminess...or if you aren't healthy conscious, use French vanilla non-dairy creamer. You can use agave to avoid maple flavor. Add mint or ginger...yummm
Why do people use maple syrup for everything. Just use honey or some other sweetener that doesn't have a super distinct taste like maple does. Maple doesn't go with everything people
